I just had a very negative experience here with my friends that aligns with the other negative reviews. Their management is, at best, misleading and, at worst, scamming. I don't blame the waitstaff at all, as they are very kind, welcoming, and quick, in my experience. First, the food. The quality is fine, but I always find it a red flag when Asian restaurants are run by non-Asian people and there are no Asians in the crowd. "Authentic Korean" is just entirely not true, but I digress. The wings were quite good but expensive, and some of the menu items are absurd. Over $30 for a simple salmon was high to the point where I couldn't even try it to see if it was worth it. The drinks they have available are only high-end costs at mid end quality. I find a $26 New Jersey Riesling elsewhere more interesting than their $30-$56 selections. The soju and sake are insanely marked up and ridiculously priced. The food also takes quite a while to come out, even when they aren't busy at all. Plus, there's an automatic 20% gratuity charge. This didn't bother me, except for the fact that it is not only applied to food but to karaoke rooms. I found this very misleading. People do not expect to pay a 20% service charge on a room booking. This raised the $160/2 hrs to $192, and they refused to budge on this misleading application of the tip. Today, a group of my friends went to the karaoke room. Yesterday, Friday, May 8th, my friend called and they told him it was $55/hr. Today, it was $80/hr. The strange part is, when we said we weren't expecting the high cost, a man (I'm presuming the manager, but I'm not sure) claimed that no one would ever say that, even though a waitress said just minutes before that it was probably the new guy and she was sorry. Then, the man doubled down and said that yesterday, the charge would have been $55 but today (Saturday) it's $80. This makes even less sense to me because, upon checking afterward, the menu clearly says $55 Monday-Thursday, meaning that Friday would be the same cost as Saturday. So he clearly was lying to our faces that yesterday would have been the lower cost. I tried to verify this on the website, but it's so poorly built and disorganized that I can't even find the karaoke cost. I find this business model very confusing. I have no reason not to believe that lying on the phone + not including information on the website is so that people only choose to book the rooms when already inebriated. I would highly recommend avoiding this place. Support authentic (half the price!!) Korean restaurants instead. read more

My wife and I have dined at Roosterspin several times over the last 18 months and have enjoyed a fantastic dining experience each time. We've brought friends and dined solo. We've explored the menu and (I) explored the cocktail menu. The food has always been exceptionally tasty, service on point, atmosphere welcoming and fun (hip?!), and cocktails expertly crafted. We last ate here on Saturday, July 12th as part of a fun date evening. I thoroughly enjoyed a Paper Plane cocktail and my seafood fried rice entree and my wife was more than satisfied with her Bibimbap. My seafood fried rice was superb - light, refreshing, and clearly fresh ingredients - delicious! Honestly I was really pleasantly surprised as I decided to make an audible from the fried chicken sandwich, which I've had before and is soooo good. My wife loves the Bibimbap as it's delicious, filling, and a healthy option. Special shout-out to the staff - the service has always been exceptional including when we were with a table of 6 and the atmosphere in the restaurant is trendy and welcoming. They have karaoke rooms in the back, which you can't hear from the dining area. The great music playing in the restaurant always makes us talk about coming back for karaoke lol such a great music mix. The bartender Fabio is really passionate about his craft and brings an enthusiasm to mixology that feels rare these days. The menu is interesting and has inspired a few at home cocktails. I arrived straight from the hospital in my scrubs and stood at the host stand for over 15 minutes while employees looked right at me without saying a single word. Meanwhile, the bartender was vaping behind the bar inside the restaurant -- not exactly something you expect in a dining establishment. When someone finally decided to acknowledge me, the server was extremely unfriendly and acted as if I was inconveniencing her. She sat me just as my friend was arriving, but after another 10 minutes of sitting at the table with no service, we decided to leave. Roosterspin is a great twist on a Korean bar! I love the decor as they have vinyls all over the bar on the walls. The drinks are great especially during happy hour when it's slightly cheaper! The atmosphere is fun, sometimes they have a DJ, which really bumps up the mood. The food is good, not the best, I've had better Korean food in K-Town NYC and in Fort Lee, NJ but for the Central NJ area it's decent. Get the chicken wings and the kimchi fries! First review of the year goes to Roosterspin. I've been to the Westfield location several times but this was my first time dining at the NB location ( I did takeout once). Biggest bonus point for this location is that they have a full bar, unlike Westfield which is BYOB. I didn't get an entree but was also able to try two of their most popular drinks ( I got the tea one and my friend got the one with the bubble, forgot the name ). I like that the drinks are so whimsical and the presentation is so cute. I went tonight ( a Friday ) and there was a live DJ, which was really nice. All in all, I will be back. 3/5 stars full now because I want to try their entrees again since it's been a while. read more

This was the spot we chose to meet up for our last Jersey outing, for good:-((( Letting go is never easy but so necessary... I digress! The sauce was sweet and sticky, and the shrimp perfectly fried. The cheese curds were okay, not sure I'd get them again. The fries were more like potato wedges, but delicious nonetheless. They were super crispy, with a soft pillowy interior. The fried chicken left a bit to be desired. The texture was spot on, but it was lacking a bit of flavor (maybe more sauce)? The sandwich was our favorite. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and the honey butter chips were addicting. Ambiance: this is a pretty cool spot that offers a karaoke room in the back and has a huge shelf wall of vinyls. It's a really neat place with more modern decor. Service: service was a bit slow. Not much ambience and very low key on a Sunday, but a solid neighborhood joint in New Brunswick. Across the street from the train station, Roosterspin is a convenient spot for a quick bite. The steamed buns with bulgogi were meh - they definitely needed some sauce. The fried chicken sandwich with spicy soy garlic glaze and cilantro-jalapeño slaw was a MUST GET. Sloppy and saucy, just the way it should be. On the sushi roll side, I was surprisingly impressed with the spicy tuna roll. But don't be fooled, this isn't your typical STR. Rather than go out to eat for Valentine's day, I decided to get wings from here to take home for dinner. They were delicious! Double fried ultra crispy Korean wings and drumsticks. The pricing was reasonable compared to other wing spots in these inflationary times. $29 for a large order consists of 13 large pieces. $24 for a normal order consisted of 10 regular size pieces. Some of the drumsticks were huge. I wonder if I can request only wings next time. Visited this location for some Korean wings and I'm still trying to figure out why we were eating our meals off a coffee saucer and served water in tasting glasses. The gmo induced drumsticks were massive, like Turkey wings massive. Thankfully the crunchy winglets made up for the rest of the meal so we didn't leave hungry. On to the Cheese curds that were barely battered in tempera and very greasy. Ordered the garlic fried rice and the sesame oil overpowered the rice to the point it made it inedible. Came here an hour or two after it opened and had the whole place to myself! The bartender, John, who was also new, was awesome. Very hospitable and kind and came in clutch with the recommendations. One of the drinks I ordered was some purple mezcal or tequila drink where the lemon was on fire. 10/10 for presentation... and surprising cause it's a college bar but has handcrafted cocktails. So cool. I remember ordering wings, stonebowl bibimbap, kimchi fries and more I can't think of. Wings were good but comparing it to bonchon, and in that case it wasn't great. I've come to roosters spending a number of times at various times. I've come here late night when friends were doing karaoke and I've come to dinner here with my wife and other friends. I like the industrial design of the interior and think it is pretty chic. The staff here has always been helpful and friendly and I have never had bad service coming here where they're having a drink or sitting down for dinner. As far as the food goes, the last time I came My wife wanted the deviled eggs which we got and shared, I wasn't super hungry otherwise I would have ordered my own appetizer, and if I was hungry I think I would have wanted my own appetizer. Ford the dinner. I got the double fried chicken and that was very good. I love crispy chicken and this did not disappoint at all. The worst part about this place is shared amongst many downtown New Brunswick locations. Is that you're stuck with street parking? However, there is a garage very close to here so that is always an option. All in all, I think You can't go wrong with stopping here and if you do, definitely try the double fried chicken. read more

We are still dreaming about this place. Me and my 2 friends were in Edison for a convention visiting from Vegas. It happened to be one of my friends birthday so we decided to go out for some drinks and food. They are vegetarian and I am not. There was options for both of us. Or waitress was Luna and we instantly fell in love with her. Her birthday was the next day (only 30 minutes till midnight when we were there) so we all got to celebrate. There was no wait for a table for 2 but it was after 9:00pm. Our server greeted us and took our drink order and then for apps we had the Kimchi deviled eggs, and the Kimchi fries. I've had the fries before and they're pretty tasty seasoned fries fried crispy with a side of kimchi cheese sauce. The deviled eggs were good as well. I was having trouble deciding on my main course so I asked the server for some suggestions and after hearing his recommendations I went with the Stone Bowl bibimbap which is soy ginger brisket over rice with truffle butter, oyster mushrooms, piquillo pepper, and an egg. This is served piping hot and they pour the sauce over it tableside which then crisps up the rice as it continues to cook in the stone bowl... Great recommendation, I loved it! My fiancé had the Seafood yaki udon which has stir fried udon noodles, shrimp, calamari, scallops, vegetables and a hot pepper sauce. He really loved it and would definitely order it again. This restaurant was actually better than I had expected. My brother wanted me to try this place and I was a bit unsure of it at the time. The staff: The guy seemed very friendly and was very patient when we were placing our order. Kimchi Fries: This had a different taste to it than I had expected and the flavor was very unique in taste. This was actually better than I had expected. Spin Pajeon: I believe this dish could have used a little more effort in making it taste crispier and better. The one in New York tastes fantastic compared to here. Sizzle Galbi: The beef short rib could have tasted a bit better. The potato tasted delicious and the tteok was very different. We thought the tteok was the potato until we tasted it. Fried Chicken: The fried chicken here tasted delicious and had that crunch taste to it. Overall: As I stated earlier, this place tasted a lot better than I had expected from it. Always Double Fried Too! As is the case at the Westfield Roosterspin, the Double Fried Fried Chicken is very good here. Being able to mix the flavor options on a large order between the spicy and sweet is an excellent option. Both flavors are tasty, with the spicy version definitely more spicy here than in Westfield. The minimum 25 minute wait time for this great chicken was consistent with the other location, however the portion size seemed less than in Westfield. At $25 for a large order, this would be a big reason why this review isn't 4 or 5 stars. As for the other items on the menu, the Fried Mandoos here are recommended also. These dumplings had a crisp exterior and a great veggie noodle filling. The interior is seasoned perfectly for a veggie dumpling without being overly salty. I'd surely recommend this appetizer for sure. The decor was just a tad more fancy than Westfield as well, no doubt to attract the younger crowd In this New Brunswick neighborhood. I love the soy garlic.. not as hot. The fried oyster and cuttlefish was a little skimpy which was disappointing, but the tartar sauce was the bomb! I'm a very saucy girl, so that is important to me. Kimchi fries were delicious.. perfectly hot, seasoned, and crispy with a wonderful cheese dipping sauce. They don't have a kids menu, but I like that the server suggested the sliders with fries for my LO.. They were DELICIOUS! I wanted to eat her food as well! My Stone Bowl Bibimbap was wonderful! I decided to host my birthday dinner at Roosterspin. I've been in before for some food and awesome cocktails. My friend and I always have a good time but the real test was bringing in a larger group of people. Here's how the night went. First, let me start off by saying I know the staff was working their hardest to accommodate me and my friends. From a customer stand point, I feel they're understaffed for a Saturday. They bar was staffed with two bartenders which had to serve a full bar plus the entire restaurant. At some point they were bombarded with orders from all directions. This hurts the level of service once the entire party arrived. At one point, we had to flag down our waiter to start our order. Our waiter, also happened to be multi tasking as the host. He was a nice person, but you can tell he was overwhelmed as well. Some of us were getting drinks while others had to wait an unusual amount of time. At one point some of us went over to the bar to order drinks that never came and other times the same drink was coming out after they had already received it. There was a breakdown in communication somewhere. The food started rolling out a little at a time. The walking back and forth to the kitchen with only one appetizer in your hand is not as affective as possibly staging your appetizers, and bringing out a few in one shot. This slows everything down for a bit. I do acknowledge, sometimes they had two appetizers, but on multiple occasions, only one at a time was coming out of the kitchen. On to the food, their chicken is pretty delicious. Wasn't a huge fan of their Kimchi fries. The cauliflower wings are one of my favorites. Hard pass on the shrimp toast as it was too greasy. To be fair, I have never had shrimp toast anywhere that was good. The drinks were spot on. After dinner we moved into the karaoke room in the back. This was the perfect finish to our night. I feel a little overpriced per hour but it was worth it. My friends enjoyed themselves. Eventually, things must have settled down in the dining area, since the staff kept checking in on us which was great. Song selection was decent but some songs couldn't be found. Overall, I think Roosterspin has great potential. Our bartender had a wonderful personality and she didn't let the craziness ruin her mood. Just a little shy of being spot on. read more

We also ordered the Roosterspin fries, which were mediocre. The restaurant had great ambience with live music, but at an appropriate volume so that we could still have a conversation. At some other unnamed restaurants in the area, the music is so loud that I cannot hear myself think, so this was the perfect level.
