I wanted to like 22 West Tap and Grill more than I actually did. Occupying the space previously known as The Office Bar & Tavern, 22 West is a nice, casual tavern setup right on Route 22 with a solid-looking menu featuring a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, and entrees. I recently met a friend at 22 West for a few drinks and dinner. We got there at the tail end of Happy Hour and enjoyed a couple of locally-produced draft beers. The food itself was perfectly okay -- nothing mind-blowing, but decent enough for a casual bite. We shared a dozen chicken wings and both thought they were pretty good. I had a turkey burger and french fries -- which was well-executed and filling. Looking at their website, it seems as if they've changed up their menu since my visit late last month.. but, I'm not sure I'm going back to try it again because the service really dragged our experience down. We sat at the bar and the staff behind the rail barely paid attention to us and seemed ambivalent about our presence at best. The biggest issue for me happened when I went to the men's restroom and found the soap dispenser completely empty. On the way back to my seat, I mentioned it to the hostess so it could be addressed by the staff and asked if she had any hand sanitizer. She just told me it was her first day on the job and she didn't know who to ask about either. Leaving a restroom without soap is bad enough, but a front-of-house staff member completely brushing off a basic hygiene issue because she didn't want to find a manager is just really bad customer service. It's a convenient spot with decent pub food, but they definitely need to tighten up their service and basic restroom maintenance. read more

Held a group happy hour here and they were fantastic - Nixie(?) and team were helpful, managed to keep us in-budget, gave us space to help us be a bit isolated away from the rest of the restaurant so that the forty or so of us that showed up didn't overwhelm the rest. Love the service and the help! Mac & cheese in the hot pan was a hit, as was the garbage pail nachos, they needed to have a few more plates, napkins, and forks around (the staffers had to go find more), but overall people were very happy with the event. 22 West Tap & Grill is a gastropub/bar nestled along Route 22 in Bridgewater, NJ. I've been there 3 times in the past few years as it's one of our go-to spots for meeting up with friends in this part of central NJ. They have live music and events like trivia certain nights of the week. Food quality has definitely varied over my 3 visits, but is overall above average in quality over the many run-of-the mill bars in the area. For appetizers, I'd recommend their wings (4/5) and fresh fried mozzarella. The first time I had the fried mozzarella, it was easily 5/5 in quality and one of the best recipes of it I've had; however, they had run out of them on my 2nd visit, and were of 4/5 quality in my last visit, as it seemed a bit dry, and not as flavorful as when I first had them, but still among the best I've had in taste overall. We had trash can nachos (2.5/5) on our last visit, but they were very underwhelming in chip/queso taste, and served with pretty dry and unappetizing chicken, so likely wouldn't order them again. On all our visits, the burgers (4/5) have been reliably solid, being cooked to order and fully customizable with buns/ingredients. The fries & onion tings (3.5/5) have been decent, but likely wouldn't pay the $4 upgrade charge again to switch to onion rings from fries as the quality wasn't worth the price differential. Service (3.5/5) has been generally friendly with each visit. I've noticed quite the drop in customers as the last time I visited on a Saturday evening, the place wasn't too busy, with plenty of empty tables, and there was no live music as advertised. Overall, I'd rate 22 West somewhere between a 3.5 and 4 out of 5 stars, as it's been a reliable option for food despite some inconsistencies from meal to meal, and definitely a step or two above the quality of bar/pub type chain restaurants. read more

22 west was a great place which was both entertaining and had some great food. The inside was very industrial looking which is my personal favorite design in restaurants. The live band was fantastic and brought a nice vibe to the restaurant. We went for a friends birthday and I did not drink but my friends said the drinks were very good and the girls loved the espresso martinis. The service was only ok but for as busy as it was I cannot complain. We got the fried pickles and the trashcan nachos. The nachos were average but the fried pickles were the best I've ever had. Me and my girlfriend ordered the Mac attack and the bacon bonanza burger and split them and they were both fantastic. Sorry to say but food quality has dropped recently. Went today and ordered from the Saint Patrick's week menu. Corned beef sandwich and a Reuben. Corned beef was fatty and so tough and chewy it was hard to eat. Others in our party had salads and burgers, which is their strong suit, but they need to keep their eye on the ball. Was lucky enough to attend a Yelp Elite event here which was amazing! We were welcomed with small bites which were great and also got a ticket for a drink. Have been here before and was disappointed yet this time food was taken up a notch . We sat in the back room which was quiet and very bright (may want to dim the lights a little ) Waiter was attentive and friendly . We got a variety of dishes from fish and chips to salmon to pork sandwich t hot pulled pork on brioche by very flavorful with seeet coleslaw on top and crunchy fries . All were neatly presented and hot with good flavors. Desserts are rich and yummy if you have room . Lots of varieties of drinks and pomegranate cider on tap is a must to try. Stopped by for lunch with a friend, and immediately we noticed the nice decor! We were greeted by our server (I think his name is Andre) and he was super cool! My friend and I ended up ordering two burgers from the "make your own" section, which were SO delicious. One of the best burgers I've had in a while! I was in town for the weekend and stumbled across this little gem! The vibe here is great, I wish there was more bars like this closer to me. It happened to be trivia night when we went, personally I love trivia nights at bars, and sometimes it is a little too loud but this was just the right volume! You could still hold a conversation without having to yell. They had many TVs going so you when YOUR sport is playing this is the place to go! Some TVs also had their own little bar trivia so you can just have a little personal table game going as well. The staff was extremely friendly, was very attentive. The food is really good, creative selections and all quite tasty. This visit was 4 adults and 4 kids. Pork belly grilled cheese was full of pork and rich / very filling. Even in this Covid world, we all found the service very lacking. Appetizer dishes weren't removed which caused a problem when the main courses arrived. Same issue with dessert. Even when we verbally asked to have the dishes removed, only 3-4 were and the other 4 were left on the table (it was more than the busboy could carry in one trip but he never returned to finish).
