OMG! The hype is real!! My cousin who lives in Freehold has told me about this iconic Freehold establishment for years!! On the way back from NYC we stopped for a visit and went here for a late dinner. Staff was so cute and friendly, menu board was awesome and so many options. Jersey freeze has the best ice cream cakes around. I just don't understand why you have to wait on a long line just to pick up one. They should let you go on the food side , where the line is much shorter, to pick one up. I tried and they told me no. Had to wait on a long line. That's ridiculous. They served the American classics as well as a bunch of different ice cream combinations such as milkshakes, soft served ice cream, sundaes, etc. The service was appreciated and the line moved quickly. I just had regular cup of banana ice cream (Around $4?). It was very refreshing. The ice cream was extremely creamy and there was a good banana flavor, not too powerful. I love when businesses listen to the customer. I had an issue with celiac here a few weeks ago and reached out to the owner. I explained my concerns with gluten free safety and we finally had an opportunity to go back . Not only did the owner make sure to take care of us, he also made sure to scoop my ice cream with a clean spoon from a new container, told me which toppings were safe, and offered to take care of everything. Going a step further, he showed me how he had everything labeled to help the staff know which flavors were safe. This was so appreciated. Bonus- I didn't get sick this time! We have always been fans of Jersey freeze but knowing they took customer concerns seriously and want to be allergy friendly makes this a must go! This place with the name Jersey Freeze was exactly what I was seeking on this night where I was lost in memories of yesterday, remembering chances seized chances lost, good times with good friends and realizing some of those friends are no longer here. There is nothing super fancy about this place, but man, does it look like the ice cream places of countless trips down the Shore. The ice cream is that wonderful soft serve and it was great. I guess that I should have expected it, it does have Jersey in the name, so I anticipated a great visit. Jersey Freeze has been around for decades for good reason. Don't let your first glimpse fool you. There is much more to Jersey Freeze than just the ice cream that you see when you drive up. In the rear there is an entrance for food. Walk in and order at the counter. Take your number to your table and someone will bring you your food. They have something for just about everyone (burgers, wraps, salads) and prices are very reasonable. Make sure to save room for dessert and head to the front of the building. In the front is where the ice cream is sold. They always have special milkshakes and ice creams. You can also buy ice cream cakes and ice cream sandwiches at the case in front. There are two doors, one to the left and one to the right. In the summer when lines get longer it can get a little confusing as to where to go in. Parking is never an issue here. They also have plenty of seating in the front and rear (picnic tables up the stairs). Service is always very friendly. read more

We walked in and no one greeted us, they all ran out from behind the black curtain. You should be happy to see customers! As we're Placing our order we are told that they close at 9, ok and I guess we need to take our food to go and sit outside in the rain? The credit card machine didn't work lucky me my crew had cash on them. You had the whole staff at the register and even a manager came over to figure it out. Please remember whatever was going on behind the curtain didn't go away, the fact that we could not eat inside was another flag. The welcoming part is key to all business. As a manager please remember that you're a leader and coaching your staff is important. To have all those kids around the manager and just say you can't handle this and just want to run onto the street is not Proffesional. I used to always come here when I was younger and in the area so today my girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch. We just ordered mozzarella sticks and the chicken finger basket w/fries. Nothing special but very solid fried food which we enjoyed. The staff here is all very young, but friendly, you just may have to repeat yourself or double check things are right. Afterwards we walked over to the ice cream area and my girlfriend got a cup of vanilla with peanut butter sauce, which she loved. have been wanting to try here forever for their ice cream but the long line at seemingly all times and days was a bit deterrent. finally decided to wait it out. it took about 20 minutes. also, the only real way to see the menu is when you're inside, the one online is not comprehensive. toppings, shakes and specials are listed indoors. soft serve options were vanilla orange pistachio peanut butter banana and strawberry. I got pistachio with sprinkles, my partner got the s'mores shake and we got a small banana with graham cracker to try. honestly- the flavors were very light. imagine the "smell" of almond extract for the pistachio, and the smell of a banana laffy taffy for banana. I say smell bc it was more of an essence than a taste. the amount of sprinkles on mine also actually ruined it. I rarely complain there's too many sprinkles, but this actually made it feel like I was just chomping on them. the graham cracker also is not finely pressed and had large chunks. the shake was a special, but had way too many chocolate chips in our opinion. for the quality of the soft serve- this may be too detailed but it felt very heavy, def custardy, but that it like coated your mouth so heavily it was unpleasant. if you're familiar with food additives guar and xanthan gum it really felt loaded with that. these typically leave a pretty distinct after coat. anyway they seem to be outrageously popular so it's likely we are just an outlier opinion. the hard scoop also may be formulated different. i'm still glad we went since I had wanted to for some time. read more

It's not like they're the only ones. They offer a nice selection of hard flavors and of course soft ice cream. They also offer a small, vegan selection. They have outside seating. They were so rude to my elderly mother. They wouldn't even let her use a tray just to quickly take her food out to the picnic table outside when she has a bad hip, and the experience was terrible.
