Lately I've been obsessed with coffee ice cream with chocolate chips. I usually go for a mint chocolate chip or Cherry Garcia, but when I tried Talento's as well as Hagen Daz coffee ice cream with chocolate chips, I was hooked. Today I decided to try Nicholas creamery. I have been passing this establishment for at least a year. I had a craving for ice cream today and they had a coffee ice cream with specks of chocolate in it so I decided I decided to give it a try. I also had the kid throw some peanut butter chocolate topping that looked like crumbled brownie. Well, I was not disappointed because it was really good, really good and you could definitely taste the coffee in it. I have found a new ice cream place! I can just order a small cup and have it instead of buying a pint at a supermarket and eating the whole thing when I get home. They had a lot of different flavors and so I'm sure there's something for everyone there. I will stick to my coffee and I do plan to visit them again most likely very soon. read more

This has got to be the freshest, most delicious, and best ice cream in Monmouth county! I can't believe I just found out about this place!! Go here! I don't know what else to tell you. This has to be the richest and most most delicious ice cream I've ever had. And I've had a lot! The little shop is so cute also, beautifully decorated!! I also found out they have four or five locations sprinkled about Central Jersey. I think most of them are in Monmouth county. There is also a Nicholas restaurant in Redbank, which is excellent. It's the same owner. However, this ice cream chain could really become something big, I think! Every ice cream I tasted that night was incredible, incredibly rich, velvety, and delicious! None of them had even a hint of becoming style or old. It wouldn't surprise me if they threw ice cream away that wasn't fresh after a few days. I discovered Nicholas Creamery many years ago in Atlantic Highlands and was blown away by their exceptional quality and unique flavors (lemon blueberry remains my favorite). Once they opened up at Tinton Falls, I knew I'm going to be coming here a lot. This location can get very crowded (and not just on summers) but the line moves quickly. My kids love this place. We were out with friends and ate dinner across the street at Woodys and decided to go here for dessert. The line was huge, plenty of people were saying how great the ice cream was,etc... So, after waiting about 30 minutes, we got our ice cream. 3 people got ice cream. My wife loved her rainbow cookie ice cream - she though it was great. I got both peanut butter flavors (PB Palooza and PB Brownie) - one was PB base and one vanilla - yet you couldn't tell the difference because their is no flavor whatsoever. Not particularly creamy. The amount of 'stuff' in the ice cream was lacking. Plus the quality of the 'stuff' was poor. The PB cups were not reese's, but those little tiny ones you get in low rent ice cream. I ate about 1/2 and threw the rest in the garbage - not worth the calories. A friend of ours, who is not as critical as I am simply said it was 'just ok' and certainly not as good as the Haagan Daz he has in the house. I would give this 2 stars, but my wife liked it. read more

The chocolate was on top and I was so looking forward to getting to the peanut butter palooza. But the more I ate the more disappointed I was. The ice cream itself was delicious but... The description for peanutbutterpalooza states "Homemade Peanut Butter Ice Cream, tossed in a lotta Crushed Oreos and threw in handfuls of made from scratch Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for good measure." When I finally got to it, there was only one small piece of peanut butter cup and no oreos. Tossed in a lot of crushed oreos? No. Threw in handfuls of peanut butter cup? First time here! They had an array of flavors and I had trouble deciding. I went with the Bourbon Coffee and it was extremely smooth and the cone was nice and warm, which was a nice pairing with the cold ice cream! The venue is adorable and feels like you're in an old time creamery. It was towards the end of the night, but the servers weren't very personable. My friends and I visited Nicholas Creamery on a Saturday evening, and it was an excellent experience. Since we had a larger group, we got a couple of their 6-scoop flights to share, and those were perfect. If you're indecisive, the flights are the way to go so that you can basically try all of their flavors. It was fun being "food critics" as we tasted our way through the flavors. My group was impressed with their Mint, Chocolate Covered Banana, Brown Sugar Cookie Dough, and Malt Ball varieties, but my favorite was the Bourbon Coffee. The staff was very sweet and patient with us as we stared at all of the flavors for way too long. The pricing of the flight was very reasonable. Pricy but you get what you pay for! The ice cream is consistently fantastic. They have their OG flavors but then add in new small batch flavors on rotation. Sounds weird, but in August when they have their corn ice cream GET IT! You can sample anything you want before getting it but this ice cream is so good and they only have it in August. They are open late so it's a great pit stop after dinner to satiate the dessert craving.
