This is a classic ice cream place. They've got a bunch of different hard ice creams and they make milkshakes and sodas and root beer floats. The line is long, but it goes pretty fast. Inside of the store there are a few places to eat and then there's several places to eat outside. Inside you can also purchase drinks and a bunch of old school candy! This was a happy find! We went on a Wednesday early evening and was surprised to see a line there. It seemed like many families had the same idea - it was cute to see families and some pets there outside waiting in line. I got the Raspberry Lavender and it was pretty good! I'd come back here again. The ice cream was pretty flavorful, though I wish I could have tasted the lavender a little more. I think I appreciated that the flavors didn't taste too artificial. And it wasn't too sweet as well, which is my preference. I got a single scoop, but you have many options in how you'd like your ice cream presented. Many Yelpers have listed the options, so I won't list them all here! But basically, if you decide to get a scoop with a cone, you can get a single, Jersey (which is 1.5 scoops), or a double scoop. I did like the idea of the Jersey scoop, since you could have one big scoop of one flavor, and add half scoop of another to lightly compliment your initial pick. We sat outside (there are benches) and just people/dog watched, but there is an indoor that looked pretty cute where you can have your ice cream as well. There is street parking. I had an errand in East Grand Rapids recently and Nate and I decided to grab some ice cream at Jersey Junction before heading home. The history of this cozy ice cream shop is interesting, and it's fun to see the historical photos inside. We made it in right before a big rush - it's not uncommon to see a line out the door in the summer. You can get your ice cream in a flat cake cone, a pointed cake cone, sugar cone, waffle cone, or a cup, and you can get a single scoop, Jersey scoop, or a double scoop. The Jersey scoop is one and a half scoops. I asked how many different flavors I could get with a Jersey scoop, and they said "technically three" but really it's one single scoop of one flavor and a half scoop of another. (Or you can get all one flavor.) They serve Hudsonville ice cream, and had a couple dairy-free options when we were there. They also have a bit of a candy shop, but I was only interested in the ice cream. I got a full scoop of the blackberry chip and half scoop of the strawberry. There is a 10% discount if you pay with cash. There are a couple tables inside, but we took our ice cream out onto the small patio in front. Super disappointed after our one and only experience here. We had asked before ordering if it would be a Cherry sauce or actual cherries used for a flurry, which he answered sauce. After scooping the ice cream for a flurry, he then said they were out of cherries, which would have affected my order if I had known beforehand. I then said I would switch it to peanut butter cups and received a milkshake instead of a flurry. My husband ordered a peanut butter cup flurry as well and received a flurry made with reeces pieces. Jersey Junction is a staple of Gas Light Village. It is always such a nice time going there. I am usually pretty happy with my experience. Yesterday when I went my friend ordered a junior scoop of a chocolate peanut butter and they said it was a "double" and it ended up being just chocolate with no peanut butter. Michiganders (I will never get used to saying that) really like their Ice Cream - and this is a great example of one of the many Summer only spots for Ice Cream in West Michigan. Just off Wealthy in Gas Light village, this is the place to get Ice Cream if you're in EGR during the summer - just be careful, the line is often out the door and lined up to the street during high traffic times. A little on the pricey side (based on comparison to other local Ice Cream places), but they make up for it serving gigantic scoops of Hudsonville ice cream when you order. They have at least 20 flavors on hand, plus waffle cones made in store (and if you come early in the day you can see one of the employees making the cones in the back of the store in the seating area). They sell more than Ice Cream, but honestly that's the only thing I've ever gotten there. Try the Dirt Sundae with Mint Chocolate Chip - it's a nice departure if you're not interested in another scoop in a sugar cone. They've also god a cool Lego miniature of their store, and a train track hanging from the ceiling that (very rarely) has a model train running on it. read more

We stopped in with out of town guests to procure something cold and sweet for the littleuns. I had an Orange Blossom (orange sherbet blended with lime soda and whipped cream) that was cool and refreshing. Everyone else had more run of the mill ice cream shop offerings (rainbow sherbet, chocolate shake, Superman), but I saw a few interesting flavors in the dipping case that were out of the ordinary. Jersey Junction has a nice selection of penny candy and other childhood faves. The teenage summer staff members were polite but seemed a little overwhelmed when the place was busy. I love ice cream but I have high standards. Jersey Junction is without a doubt the best I've had in Michigan in the year I've lived here. We lived near a creamery in Maryland before living here and I have forever compared ice cream to "Kilby Cream". Jersey Junction did not disappoint. I had the toasted coconut and super hero double. I was introduced to super hero when I moved to Michigan and I like it but next time I will just get two scoops of toasted coconut. This flavor is my new favorite but I have a feeling I won't be able to get it anywhere else and Grand Rapids is on the opposite side of the state from where we are living. The shop is very quaint, like something I might expect from a Norman Rockwell painting, very inviting and nostalgic. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They were anxious to make sure we enjoyed the ice cream and we let them know it was two thumbs up once we'd enjoyed iI do need to give a shout out to Alena, at The Amway Grand Plaza, for recommending it.
