This mikes USE TO be great and had great customer service but my last couple experiences make me want to avoid this place. If not for the subpar sandwich making or the teenanger tude every time lately. Someone needs to inform the string bean brunette teen boy that it cost zero$$ to be kind.-opinion not based on just one encounter. My first time to any of chain, the guys were great ! Friendly, Helpful and kind and very respectful!!! I am not easy to please ... and I have craved a rare roast beef sub, I called and asked... they said medium rare, I stopped in and they were kind enough to allow me taste a sample !!! Where else does that ? I ordered a Giant sub !!!! It was perfect, considering I have tried others since moving back from Florida, missing my Publix subs greatly and not able to find anything close, this surpassed any of my expectations. I usually don't like sandwich shop chains stores but this one isn't bad. The only reason I went here today was my granddaughter likes it. The food is decent and bit pricey though. The staff were friendly and professional. The biggest negative I have is how messy they kept the cutting board. I hate mayonnaise and lettuce and the staff making the sandwiches never clear the cutting board or wiped off the knife so a little of the mixture from other sandwiches was mixed into my sandwich. Made me sick to the point I couldn't eat it. All they need to do to get a five star is clean the knife and cutting board between sandwiches. I'm too picky I know. read more

UPDATE: Still enjoy this place but definitely don't recommend the Chicken Parm--had this afternoon for lunch and was very disappointed. It tasted like a luke-warm frozen chicken cutlet microwaved, and then had marina sauce dumped on it with cheese. Will still come here given there other hot subs are delicious, just staying clear of the Chicken Parm. Good sandwich and great location. I got it to go I only live less than 5 minutes from there. I always get my subs to go. I was disappointed when I got home and opened. It up and the bottom part of the several was soggy. Their subs are some of the best that I've had in a long time and I can't wait for the Frederick location to open up. There are two things that I think sets them apart from other sub places: 1. the meat is fresh sliced when you order and there's a lot of it and 2. the bread is fresh baked and actually tastes like it; you can smell how fresh the bread is before you even get it up to your mouth. The only thing that would make this one of the best subs that I've ever eaten would be if the bread was toasted or, better yet, grilled. Picture half a small supermarket freshly-baked italian loaf, topped with meats and cheese from the deli, throw on some lettuce and tomato, then sprinkle with vinegar & oil. No option to toast, which increases flavors of some meat 100%. Add a fountain soda. Comes to $9. Gas "super" station has about the same for $6. You decide. Very sterile, "cold" feeling environment. It is the greatest Jersey Mike's I've been to, which is only a few total, but this one has not degraded over time like one specific newer one in my area. I have to agree with Tony B on this one for the most part. Its subs are definitely the best in town. The staff is very friendly, helpful and patient (for new customers, the decision process may take awhile given so many great options). They are large subs, a regular will fill you up. Giant size will last two meals for most people! My only disagreement with Tony is on price. I think Jersey Mike's is an expensive place to eat especially for a family. If you're going to pick up just 4 regular subs, then you're talking around $25, which isn't too bad. Add drinks, chips if you want, and maybe someone goes giant size instead of regular and you're getting close to what you might pay for a meal at Applebees perhaps. Great place and great food. Very Very Poor Customer Service!! This is not the only restaurant in Charles Town, WV that shows poor customer service. I called in an order to be picked up but had to call 2 minutes later to ask to hold off on it because it was going to be awhile before it could be picked up. The girl on the other end says well " We just started it". It could have been stopped at that point and I asked her to wait but she didn't offer to and thought I was going buy cold food. I hung up disappointed that I would have to eat cold food. So the more I thought about it the more upset I became and I ended up calling and cancelling. She had the nerve to say next time tell us so we can stop the order and wait until your ready. Hello............isn't that what I tried to do and you didn't comply with my request. A good restaurant would have said sure no problem. If you had just put the steak on you could have taken it off and waited until I called. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me. The girl sounded very young and inexperienced and tried to present herself as a manager. I will be contacting the real manager. I work in a customer service role and I would not treat the customers like that because many will not come back. For the food industry out there-the person on the phone is the first point of contact and it should be pleasant for the customer. I didn't even make it to the food part to write about that. read more
