My experience here was quite memorable! I'm already thinking of coming here again when I return. Upon entering, menus were visible and there was plenty of space to stand in line comfortably! We were able to decide what to order before we made it to the counter. This is a popular place. What looked like a long line moved quickly. The cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a few breakfast sandwiches and a few beverages! Our directions were to stand aside for our beverages and then we could wait elsewhere, even outside on the patio for our food order. We were given a pager. The logistics of their system worked quite smoothly. Our chai tea latte and iced vanilla latte with cinnamon were on point! And our breakfast sandwiches (egg and cheese on sourdough & ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant) were freshly prepared and delicious! Yum! One of many coffee shops in Harper's Ferry. This one was one of my favorite. The parking was definitely not the highlight, it was crowded during the weekend. The price for their drinks and frozen custard were very reasonable. I enjoyed their latte. They offer different types of milk if you are lactose intolerant. For the frozen custard, they give a generous portion per scoop. They also have sandwiches and chips if your heart desires. The service was friendly and speedy. Their point of sales takes credit card and touchless card payment via phone. Its an easy 4.7 out of 5. A must visit cafe if you are visiting Harper's Ferry. read more

Highly recommend stopping here while on your journey to Harper's Ferry. I got the Iced Honey Bee Latte $4.75 which was amazing and the Mountain Top Sandwich $10.95. I really enjoyed the hearty sandwich and loved the ambiance of the inside. They had these super cute pumpkin spice earrings upfront and a few other adorable fall items for sale as you enter the shop. The ladies serving us were super sweet and kind. They were extremely busy and were handling orders and people extremely professionally. They should do a partnership with bolivar bakery and use their bread to make the sandwiches. I think that would elevate them even more! Will be going back when we return to Harper's Ferry! read more

I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The food was great, so I want to make sure I point that out first. But the owner... is not. Rant below. Only read if you want to know about why you shouldn't go here-- bc I only support businesses that are run by supportive owners. I called ahead to make sure placing an order for 8 people wouldn't be a problem and was told to email ahead of time. When I emailed, I was met with a brash response that emailing was only for groups of 25 and a new person answered the phone who shouldn't have given out the email address and to order 30 min ahead like the website says when we needed the food. (It was the company address- not a personal one). I apologized. The website wasn't working well, and I called a few times when trying to place the order and finally was able to place one through door dash. When my order finally was placed, after waiting for nearly an hour, door dash canceled the order. I called and the restaurant already had the order made. But no way to deliver it. The told me to find a way to get there to pick it up. But we had been drinking and our only sober driver then had to double back and spend an extra 45 minutes driving us around while the rest of our group waited over 2 hours for their lunch. I asked door dash for a refund and they gladly provided it. The restaurant said we could not have our food anymore- they held onto our sandwiches - literally "held our sandwiches as ransom" because we were refunded. The owner made her employee put her on the phone with us so she could yell at us and tell us that we had to pay again or not get our food "I'm not just going to give you this food." But also, didn't acknowledge that we just waited 1.5 hours, and drove to get cold sandwiches and coffee had just been sitting there for so long that the ice had melted. IMO don't use door dash/offer delivery or find a way to be nicer to your customers. Being rude is never the way to run a business. Everyone has bad days, but this is clearly a pattern. Editing to respond to owner's response bc I would never yell at an employee. I was telling them how upset I was and the employees kept apologizing for the owner's behavior. I told them it wasn't their fault but I was just disappointed and they were just staring at each other. I wasn't "drinking all day," I just didn't want to drive. We are in our 40s and extremely responsible adults. The coffee drinks (one of them) spilled bc they were left in the carrier and had melted and the cardboard was soaking wet and wouldn't hold them. I had to keep the rest of the drinks on the ground and a really nice woman offered to help me carry them to the car because the carrier was no longer functioning. We won't be back. Just be nicer. See my other reviews. I have plenty of great experiences. This wasn't one of them. read more

It says it has the best coffee in town on the walls and we certainly enjoyed it. We came twice in one day. Before and after our hike. Service was incredibly friendly and helpful. They also have a nice outdoor patio to sit at to the right and down the steps and free Wi-Fi too! I got the pumpkin spice latte in the morning and an iced Samoa in the afternoon. We also had the BLT special breakfast sandwich and an egg sausage and cheese sandwich. Along with our double chocolate chip muffin. For lunch, we got a chicken salad sandwich. Enjoyed everything but the BLT breakfast sandwich was way better the the egg sausage and cheese. Sausage was kind of strange and I be advised the bagels are not homemade. A good place for a cup of coffee in Harpers Ferry I recently visited Harpers Ferry with family. As with most trips we went in search of the history, the sights and a good cup of tea and coffee for the various members in the group. The town is part of the park service and most people park at the visitors center and take the shuttle bus into the town. There is a parking lot but quickly fills up because of the popularity. This shop is about a block and a half up high street from John Brown's fort. Battle Grounds Bakery and Coffee is like an old time shop with the hand-painted sign outside to wood floor, brick entryway, and swinging screen door. It seemed a welcoming and friendly spot from the moment you walk in. The staff was friendly and helpful, at teh counter located near the back of the space. Several in our party ordered coffee and a few ordered tea. There were plenty of choices for our different tastes. You can get a simple drip coffee, a cold brew, or an espresso drink like a cappuccino or latte. All the drinks were made fresh.They also offer fresh breads, muffins, croissants, and cookies that is baked daily. If you happen to be in the area and want to get a good cup of coffee, then I would recommend that this is a good place to stop and get a caffeinated beverage of your choice. Visited Battle Grounds Bakery recently. Walking by, the smells were amazing. On our way back from our walk through Harpers Ferry, we stopped in and looked at the menu. My wife and mom drink coffee, so I requested two large coffees to go. I also requested a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. It was busy, but the coffee was served quickly. The croissant took a few minutes. The coffee was piping hot. We took the food to go and walked back to our rental house. The sausage egg and cheese croissant was delicious. I wish I would've requested another one. My wife and mom loved the coffee. Next time we're in HF, we'll visit again. Great food. Great service. read more

Everything about this place is amazing! They have a large menu for both food and drinks and so many flavor syrups to choose from for coffee. They even sell ice cream which is always a plus. I went with an iced blackberry latte and a chickpea salad sandwich on sourdough bread. The sourdough bread itself was amazing and the chickpea salad was great. They bake their own bread for the lunch sandwiches, which is nice, but the bread doesn't really stand out for anything other than being sliced super thick. I stopped here for lunch while hiking a section of the AT with my brother and our dogs. First, let me say the service was fantastic and the staff, super friendly. It was raining and we were soaked and they didn't give us a hard time about being wet and having bulky bags, and they even gave us a rag so we could clean ourselves up a bit before eating. (Also gave treats for the dogs) Don't think that this review is just about service though. The food was killer!! We got sandwiches and cookies. The sandwhich were so so tasty, and very big. Bread is made fresh in-house and everything we got was just so tasty. I got the John Brown which was warm and satisfying. The cookies were also very good. I don't find myself in harpers ferry often, but next time I'm there I will 100% be back. On top of everything, even in a place with a captive audience, prices were super reasonable! read more

I had outstanding peach tea, a great breakfast sandwich on a bagel, an awesome chocolate muffin, and a Confluence sandwich. The Confluence is roast beef, swiss, horseradish, red onion, lettuce, and tomato on sourdough bread - absolutely outstanding! My companions loved the coffee, salads, and bagels as well. Battle Grounds, despite being a small shop, offers a lot of options for drinks and food, including milkshakes! I arrived on a Friday morning, dodging the large group of teens that were roving the streets on a field trip. The line was fairly long but not out the door. I ordered a simple breakfast sandwich of egg and cheese on a bagel. They didn't have a place to fill up my water bottle so I had to buy a disposable one (at least it was only $1, but there wasn't a recycling spot so I had to carry it around with me). They were very busy, my sandwich took a long time to be ready, at least 15 minutes if not more. I had approached the counter as I was convinced that I had missed my order as I had headphones on. Perhaps it's because they have a small kitchen that things took a while? The tricky thing is that there isn't a good place to wait for your food/drinks without getting in people's way. There is a ledge with high top stools along one of the walls, but it can feel squished when there's a lot of people in line. There are tables next door on the hill but they fill up fast. When I got my sandwich, the cheese was both super melty and not melty at all. The bagel was fine, and the eggs were well made. It checked the box for breakfast, but after the long wait it was sort of a let down. read more

I initially ordered a Pumpkin latte with almond milk and it was fixed wonderfully, I just didn't like the taste, the staff was so kind, she simply made me a new one and the second go round I ordered a Cinderella latte and my goodness, it was perfect. Stopped in today while visiting Harpers Ferry with my girlfriend and 8-year-old son. It was a dreary, cold and rainy November morning so this place was absolutely perfect. There was a big group ahead of us who ordered just about everything on the menu but the staff were still super quick and patient with getting our drinks ready. My son had the hot chocolate and we each had the pumpkin chai latte and all were perfect. Cozy bakery/cafe with delicious breakfast and lunch options! My husband and I stopped by here before hiking the Maryland Heights trail. The line was pretty long on a Saturday around 11 am. We ordered their special (bacon, cheese, chopped jalapeño, and a sweet jam on sourdough bread) and a red velvet cheesecake muffin/cupcake. The sandwich was very good and satisfying. Loved the combo of sweet and spicy. I appreciated how they asked if I wanted my muffin warmed up. Also, they give you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. I loved this place so much! I went for breakfast and had a breakfast sandwich and an iced latte. The sandwich was amazing and a reasonable price. It was very large and filling. I would highly recommend the sourdough for bread, as it is very delicious. They are very accommodating for gluten free orders. We ordered a gluten free sandwich and they made it separately so that there was no cross-contamination. It did take a couple extra minutes but they were very willing to do so. When we returned for lunch, the cashier had remembered us and informed us that they had just finished their batch of gluten free cookies. We had some, and they were amazing!
