Another great meal at TJs. The chicken Caesar wrap was delicious. Their ice creams are legit and the service is always friendly.

What a perfect start to a summer day trip! Vintage ambiance, friendly servers, and home cooked breakfast flavors! I recommend as a delicious treat that is also budget friendly. I enjoyed the perfectly cooked egg-over-easy on top of the fluffiest of biscuits. I felt nourished by the breakfast and the interpersonal connections. I recommend!

Friendly staff, cute ambiance, and the burger was out of this world! We stopped on the side of the road spontaneously and had one of the best burgers in months!

Visited TJ's Pit Stop for lunch recently with 7 other people. Upon arrival, I didn't think they'd be able to seat us, but then they took us into another section of the restaurant, which was recently remodeled. There was plenty of seating back there. The service was fast and friendly. We were given menus and our drink requests were taken. As an appetizer, we requested buffalo chicken fries and fried pickles. Both were hot and delicious. For lunch, I requested meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans. A long while later, our food arrived. My meatloaf was very tasty, especially with gravy. The mashed potatoes were great, again with gravy, and the green beans were also very tasty. Great lunch and I would request it again. This is definitely a good restaurant.

We came to Charles Town for a show and decided to try this place out for breakfast rather than the free hotel breakfast. That was a good choice! I can't say anything bad about this place. A real comfort-food place. Your standard diner fare and that's what we like. Comfortable booths and a long counter with stools. The home fried potatoes were probably the best I've had in a long while. The scrambled eggs, bacon and scrapple on our breakfast platters were all cooked correctly. And OMG, the biscuit and sausage gravy plate we got on the side to share??? Don't forget to try it! The restroom was super clean! Labeled for both genders, there were two urinals and two stalls and four sinks and a latch on the door so as a couple we went in together and saved time!

This photo should say it all. Ugh I'm full

Small town dinner. We finally stopped in after passing this place for years! Interesting atmosphere. Lots of stickers to look at. The server was friendly and the food was prompt and hot! Prices are reasonable. Home cooking.

All I have to say is WOW! Food here is amazing! You can tell they put love into it. We're in town spending the night, went to the casino, came back hungry and found this little gem on yelp. It was 8:45pm and they close at 9...I called and asked if it was too late to put in an order to go, they were very accepting and just asked that we get there by 9. My bf went and picked it up. We ordered: 1) Cheeseburger- real beef patty not frozen, cooked to perfection. Toppings just as we ordered. 2) Fries with brown gravy- real potatoes with the skin, gravy was sooo good and not lumpy. 3) Chicken dumplings- woo! Dumplings were yummy and big ol chunks of white meat chicken in there. Flavor town! 4) Green beans- tasty and not mushy 5) Mac n cheese: whoa! This is like cheesey delicious baked Mac n cheese with real cheese. Holy food coma! It's literally home cooked food and it's sooo good! Brings me back to what my grandma used to make. If you're ever in CharlesTown DO NOT pass the opportunity to stop in at this place. Sorry I didn't get sexy food porn pix, we dove right in lol!

Took part of the tables order and never came back for the rest. She disappeared and we had to call over other staff to handle the problems. First off many items on the menu they did not have such as French onion soup. Mind you they only gave two soups to begin with. My wife and our friend ordered loaded baked potato but we only received one of them until we asked for the manager. The manager saud the kitchen was backed up because they had a party of 20 who ordered different items on the menu. Isn't that a possibility if you let them orderI from the menu? I did not get the chipotle aioli with my fried green tomato blt and had to wait till we got another wait staff to get it. Service was horrible. The food subpar. The whole experience was hideous. As a chef of 45 years I had to wonder why a party of 20 people would throw the service off in the restaurant??? Made no sense at all. The place also needs some upgrades like tables that don't tilt and backs of seats that don't move. Just was not very clean or well maintained. My silverware looked as though it was already used. Needless to say we will never be back! Horrible experience on all levels!

What a cute little place... and LOVE the owners!…read more We were recently in the area for a drive to look at the fall foliage and discovered this little spot, which we heard was pretty popular with the locals. We definitely understand the appeal, as the food was good, the drinks were good, and the staff were great. We likely ordered too much fried food while there (and it all tasted great), but next time I might substitute some of the fried fare with a salad. But our eyes were drawn to the other tables around us where patrons were chomping on fried pickles (yum), French fries (tasty enough), and onion rings (outstanding). My only recommendations to the owners would be to stick a few more healthy items. Before I close out, I must send another shout out to the owners (a husband and wife team who were staffing the place the day we visited). They are awesome!! I loved the conversations with them and would return to Horseshoe just for drinks and a chuckle... and the onion rings! Final thoughts = check this place out if nearby, but be sure to balance the fried food with a salad.

Great music! Excellent whiskies and beers. Ambiance like a really nice barn :-)…read more We wanted a Memorial Day (2025) daytrip from greater-Baltimore. Harper's Ferry is very close! Like an hour (ish) drive. So what's happening in HP? The Barn out Washington St. had a MemorialDay weekend all-day mostly-country music event 2pm to 10:30pm! Very nice. They have a great little bar inside, and sometimes have food from one of the restaurants across the parking lot, or just walk over for takeout, or i think i read that they deliver here. By the way, parking can get a little tight for a bigger event like this one, but we were early enough, maybe 1pm, and we scored a space when someone left. I might as well add that there's several clean restrooms sort of across from the bar. We settled into a huge comfy couch near the back of the hall, behind the seating for roughly 30 at tables and picnic tables. There was also seating for roughly 20 at tables out on a deck. The first solo singer-guitarist, D.C.'s Kate Smiles, had a lovely voice and sweetly original interpretations of rock and pop and country songs that i knew, and a presence that made me say, Hey, Wow, I can relax in this mellow mood with a really nice whiskey from a list that my local bar would envy. By the way, they were out of the local whiskey, Devil's Due, so i had a warming fiery oaky slightly-sweet Elijah Craig bourbon, neat, with a water back. Mmmmm. The second musician, W.V.'s Andrew Copenhaver, moved among soulful blues and country, some classics, some modern. He could put an edge on his voice, and he could hit some deep bass notes, so it was a real pleasure when he gave us Folsom Prison Blues. When you can hit that low note, you have a right to do some Johnny Cash. By now i was into some crisp local beers. That little bar really has everything, including a versatile bartender who made every drink we knew, and we sampled his skills as the third musician, NoVA's Mark Cullinane, took the stage. He had a wide range of country songs, including a moving original that made us feel we were driving in our pickup behind his dad's. He had a great rich tone and great range. Like the second musician, he used some kind of looper to create full layers of harmony. What with all the beverages, we started to fade a little as the music moved into the set by NoVA's seriously-country Rowdy Ace Band around 8pm. They really lit up the hall and the patio and probably a good piece of nearby Harpers Ferry. We eventually moved on to our reservations for dinner across the parking lot at Snallygaster's restaurant. But that's another story. We had a terrific afternoon and evening. The Barn will definitely be one of our go-to spots in this town, and we'll be looking to hear these musicians again!
