I'd go back here, but it's not 5-star dining. It's a diner, but a step (or two) above the usual diner fried frozen-food-from-ConAgra trash. The menu is more interesting and the service is good, down to earth, no fake smiles or discomfort-inducing enthusiasm. I had the biscuits with sausage gravy, and they were ok. I probably wouldn't order them again, but I would try other things. The handcut fries seem very popular. I didn't love them, but they were real potatoes and I would likely order them again. I got the country fried steak which was the best of the dishes. Gravy is pretty obviously from a packet, which I'm fine with. Visited TJ's Pit Stop for lunch recently with 7 other people. Upon arrival, I didn't think they'd be able to seat us, but then they took us into another section of the restaurant, which was recently remodeled. There was plenty of seating back there. The service was fast and friendly. We were given menus and our drink requests were taken. As an appetizer, we requested buffalo chicken fries and fried pickles. Both were hot and delicious. For lunch, I requested meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans. A long while later, our food arrived. My meatloaf was very tasty, especially with gravy. The mashed potatoes were great, again with gravy, and the green beans were also very tasty. Great lunch and I would request it again. This is definitely a good restaurant. read more

We came to Charles Town for a show and decided to try this place out for breakfast rather than the free hotel breakfast. That was a good choice! I can't say anything bad about this place. A real comfort-food place. Your standard diner fare and that's what we like. Comfortable booths and a long counter with stools. The home fried potatoes were probably the best I've had in a long while. The scrambled eggs, bacon and scrapple on our breakfast platters were all cooked correctly. And OMG, the biscuit and sausage gravy plate we got on the side to share??? Don't forget to try it! The restroom was super clean! Labeled for both genders, there were two urinals and two stalls and four sinks and a latch on the door so as a couple we went in together and saved time! read more

All I have to say is WOW! Food here is amazing! You can tell they put love into it. We're in town spending the night, went to the casino, came back hungry and found this little gem on yelp. It was 8:45pm and they close at 9...I called and asked if it was too late to put in an order to go, they were very accepting and just asked that we get there by 9. My bf went and picked it up. We ordered: 1) Cheeseburger- real beef patty not frozen, cooked to perfection. Toppings just as we ordered. 2) Fries with brown gravy- real potatoes with the skin, gravy was sooo good and not lumpy. 3) Chicken dumplings- woo! Dumplings were yummy and big ol chunks of white meat chicken in there. Flavor town! 4) Green beans- tasty and not mushy 5) Mac n cheese: whoa! This is like cheesey delicious baked Mac n cheese with real cheese. Holy food coma! It's literally home cooked food and it's sooo good! Brings me back to what my grandma used to make. We ordered a wings platter for the Super Bowl last weekend and I just wanna say those wings were awesome. I called at about lunchtime on Super Bowl Sunday and pick them up at about 2 PM. I got the honey barbecue, mild buffalo, mango habanero, and honey old bay wings and all of them were great. The platter came with carrots, celery, and ranch dressing and was just as fresh as it could be. read more

A really nice evening out! I've read the tremendous reviews about this place, and the five-stars were not kidding. First off, the best way to find out what the overall cleanliness of any place of business is, is to check out the bathrooms. The cleaning was as near to pristine as a restaurant bathroom can get. Ordering our food was a great experience, with our very friendly waitress, who made sure our sandwiches were presented exactly as we wanted. Then came the food. OK... the mozzarella sticks might be frozen, but they are the higher scale battered brand (versus cheaper breaded type) -- Yum! I had the crab cake sandwich and my husband had the steak and cheese. Both served with home-cut fresh fries. The meal was delicious! We have a new favorite place in Charles Town and will be back often for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. read more

Gore's sausage in Winchester is extremely delicious and much better than this. No comparison . The coffee was lukewarm & not good at all. The server was very friendly. The table in the back was sticky. The atmosphere, particularly in the back is drab. Seeing clutter in the adjoining room was a turnoff. Vibe lol They will serve the regulars 3 times before you even get your drink.. we've been here twice, once with a party of four, and once with a party of five.. took over an hour to get our food both times. The water tastes like a lemon cleaning agent.. Watched them bus a table, they call out unused items, like forks for example... and then re-use them on future tables... I could go on but one of the worst restaurants we have all ever been to. Oh and when you do finally get your food, it's good, not great, but you'll be starving so you'll enjoy it. read more

I haven't been disappointed with any of my orders, from their hamburger steak to their hand cut NY strip steaks. They have a nice dessert selection of fresh pies to hand scooped ice cream. Excellent service. Not great food. The burgers are big but dont taste good. They put no herbs or spices in the beef. The fries were not fried, they were baked, and not good fries to begin with. There was a very strong taste of soap in my cola, which made it taste awful and of course ruined the flavor of the meal as well. Seats wobble so much I couldnt get comfortable. Lady serving me was nice and kept on top of the orders. Good parking. Easy to get in and out of the joint as close as it is to the highway. read more

This place is exactly what you'd expect...a cute, roadside diner with great home cooking. The inside looks like something out of the Andy Griffith show. It's a small place but they seem to do a decent job with required distancing and all staff were wearing masks. The women's bathroom was out of service so everyone was using the same multi stall men's room - which was clean but it was a little uncomfortable for me. Thankfully, no men came in while I was in there but it certainly would have been awkward to walk out and see a man standing at the urinal. There was only one waitress serving the entire place so the service was a LITTLE BIT slow but she was really doing a great job keeping up with everyone's requests as well as the phone/carry out orders. We weren't in a rush so we weren't bothered with the speed of service at all. My husband had the breakfast special with biscuits and gravy. It was a large plate of food. I had a breakfast sandwich with sausage and it was really good. Everything was fresh and seemed homemade. We don't go out for breakfast often but we would definitely come back. read more
