I'm originally from the Philly area and have eaten my share of hoagies. These are pretty good for south of the Mason Dixon line. The snake line and decor smacks of a chain. And the employees, while nice, aren't experts on hoagies. If you ask for "sweets" for instance, you are likely to get an answer like, "you mean the stuff we put on the cheese steaks?" But the overall quality is pretty good. A little too much vinegar and oil, but otherwise not bad. The only really good hoagie I've had south of Philly is Primo's in OC. There was a place on N. Market that wasn't bad, but they closed. And Vignola's on Church St. is okay, but they changed their name and I haven't been there since then. All in all, Jersey Mike's isn't bad. If you are looking for a hoagie in Frederick, it's probably the best. read more

I recently tried to eat at this establishment but was not able to. My sister and I were ignored by the staff. We stood waiting to to place our order and no one would even look at us. We stood for some time before giving up and left. Needless to say we were pretty disgruntled by this time and let them know it on our way out. This place is dirty and run by high school kids. Stopped by on Saturday evening and witnessed one girl sneezing, without covering her mouth, all over the toppings. Mold growing on the ice dispenser. The place is filthy and the staff is really poorly trained. read more

I love Jersey Mike's but this location has slowly gone downhill. They use to have some good friendly employees but seems the kids working in there now can care less. The tables and floors are always dirty, even when it's slow. I think I'll just get my subs to go in the future. read more

I loved this place when it opened. Fun, entertaining, full of customers and the subs were stacked. I had dinner there yesterday. One customer other than myself who ordered several subs "Mikes way" so they were drowned in vinegar and oil. It splashed so much it went into the open bins of sub ingredients. I ordered a simple ham and cheeses sub. The meat was cut so thin you could read through it. And there was only one layer of it which at the most was 4 slices. When the sub was assembled you couldn't even see it. There was a full inch of lettuce. So I ended up with a vegi sub for the most part. Then after assembling the sub they put it down in a pool of vinegar and oil from the previous sub. I was on a time table so I didn't complain. So while I was quickly eating vinegar and lettuce sub because the staff had nothing else to do they started Horse playing behind the counter. These subs are enormous. So if you get the large you might have some leftovers. They have hot and cold subs, although the cold cuts seem to definitely be a little more hearty in regards to the portions compared to the hot subs like the cheesesteaks. The only gripe would be sometimes the subs can become soggy if you take out, but not usually the case. The staff is also very polite. read more

The staff is continuously engaged in personal conversation or watching TV or on the phone. They totally ignore the customers. They are very rude and treat the customers like an after thought. ALWAYS! The manager could not care less about the customers and tries to be the employees pal. I have heard employees making disparaging comments about him behind his back. I have been in many times when 5 people plus the manager were working and the service was crazy slow. 3 employees talking and one making sandwiches and a cashier who was clueless. The place is always a mess. The only reason this restaurant is busy is it is in a good location. It has nothing to do with the manager who has created a really bad culture. Would love to see new management and staff. There have been so many time where a group of us from the office did not go there because of the staff, manager and filth. We live in Hagerstown. We started going to JM's about a month ago and became addicted. We really did love it here. Until yesterday. The place wasn't busy yet. It was a 1/2 hour before lunch. I'm standing in line and I begin to make my order when I noticed the topping girl scrape everything left on her cutting board from the previous order back into the unused clean lettuce. Yes, all the bread crumbs, oil, vinegar, and everything else that was on there. I told her that was disgusting and I didn't want oil and vineage on my sandwich. She says "I wasn't going to put that lettuce on your sandwich" Um...how are you going to avoid that along with the bread crumbs. The girl cutting the cheese and meat says to me "geez you need to calm down'. I thought really...I'm hear to spend over $30.00 and you're telling me to calm down. I asked for the manager. I told her I was told to calm down by the meat and cheese girl. The manager told me "Maybe you should" So now this whole disgusting scrape your crap back into the clean lettuce is my fault. Finally, the owner comes out. He explains that the girl is to scrape it into the corner of the clean lettuce bin. Is this something new? Everytime I've been there before they scrape towards them into whatever or on the floor. I don't know because I can't see. He offers us free food, but we delcine. We also told him he may want to hire some workers who don't talk back to paying customers. I work in retail and I don't always believe in the customer is always right theory, but even if one of my customers were wrong I would never say anything like they did or with their tone. Later that day we are in Frederick for our daughter's soccer game. Still craving my JM I decide to check out their location. It is much busier and I had to wait in line. No problem. In fact it was perfect. I got to obverse the exact same procedure there. No scene. Just walked out and I won't be back. Totally bummed. I loved this place. My significant other and I recently got take out at this restaurant. Disappointed that their selection of vegetables for a salad is limited. On our last visit the staff wasn't very friendly, this was on a Saturday evening and they were not very busy and there were at least three people behind the counter. My husband loves subs, so we thought we would try this place. We had never been to a Jersey Mike's before, so it was a new experience for us. My husband ordered the Italian and loved it. He felt that it was one of the best Italian subs he has eaten at a fast food type sub place. The bread, meat and veggies were all fresh. The subs are a good size as well. I ordered the mini turkey and really enjoyed it. The staff was polite and the line moved fairly quickly. We will definitely return! read more

OK, I do love JM but I am unimpressed with this home location. Too many young kids running the place and generally a team that doesn't work, communicate or care about anything. My worst experience was ordering a large club deluxe, Mike's Way -- having three people work the sub (one hand-off to someone else to build) and getting no RB, my bacon broken to bits and then the cashier trying to charge me for another sandwich that's almost $2 more. I caught the RB missing and the over-charge I corrected but why can't they do a good job? Have had a few other issues but lived with them. Whoever owns or runs this place, you will lose in the long-run with these staff picks. The food is good but service really blows. Too many other places to eat. I hate Subway and Quizno's -- but JJ and Firehouse is always the alternative. read more

First and last time for this establishment. Went in for a carryout sub and the food and service was deplorable. They took my order and my money fast and then treated me like I wasn't there. My sub is finished and sitting on the counter for 5 minutes while they finish 4 more subs after mine, incorrectly I might add to make matters worse. All they had to do was wrap it and hand it to me but that was apparently too much to ask. After I got home and opened it, the bread was stale. No not crusty, stale. Crumbled in your mouth when you tried to eat it. For nearly $9 for a small sub, they will not be getting any more of my business. read more

I have been going to this establishment since they first opened up, based on my dad's recommendation. From the first time up until today, I have not been disappointed. The people that make your subs actually talk to you and make you feel like you are at home. Everything is sliced right before your eyes and the ingredients are piled high and it all looks superb. A regular cold sub will cost you about $8 with the combo meal about $3 more ( chips and drink). The deli meat is taken right out of the cooler as if your in a grocery store. The lettuce, tomato and much more is sliced fresh on a daily basis. I know I am making the same comments as everyone else, but it's nice to go and spend your hard earned money on food that is made fresh and you don't have to worry about the cook sneezing on your food. Jersey Mikes is a very good place for subs. They have salads, cold subs, hot subs ( cheesesteaks ) and if you don't want your sub on bread, you can ask to have it without and they won't make a negative comment to you. Lastly, you can change up what you want your sub and the lady I had was happy to comply. With the good, the only thing I would do differently is get another slicer for slicing meats and cheeses, instead of just using one slicer for both, however the entire establishment is kept very clean. I would highly recommend Jersey Mikes to anybody looking for a great FRESH sub! read more
