After enjoying a recent visit to another Olive Garden location, I was excited to come back, but this visit was just okay. Our server, Tami, was friendly, and the restaurant wasn't overly busy. However, service felt a little off throughout the meal. Everyone else's food arrived well before mine, and I had almost forgotten I'd ordered anything by the time my chicken fettuccine Alfredo finally came out. Since a to-go order of the same dish arrived before my meal, I suspect my order may have been overlooked. The salad also wasn't as good as I remembered. It seemed light on dressing, and unlike my previous visit, no one asked if I wanted any ingredients removed. I ended up picking out several large pieces of raw onion. The highlight of the meal was the new chicken bites appetizer, which was tender and flavorful with a sweet-spicy sauce. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was inconsistent. One child's pizza was noticeably overcooked, we had to ask multiple times for extra ketchup, and getting the traditional chocolate mints at the end turned into a scavenger hunt between the dining room, host stand, and bar. We went for the never ending pasta and it was good for the price $14.99 plus $4.99 for protein. My husband ordered the Tour of Italy. The chicken Parmesan wasn't salty and delicious. The lasagna and Alfredo were good. They added two new items to the never ending: spicy Alfredo and crispy shrimp frittata. Both delicious! Our server was nice but forgetful. We joined the waitlist online and were seated immediately upon arrival - impressive for such a busy holiday! Despite the packed restaurant, our food arrived quickly. The Tour of Italy offered a perfect sampling of their classics with well-executed chicken parmesan, lasagna, and fettuccine. The Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara featured perfectly cooked seafood in a creamy sauce with a nice smoky touch from the bacon. Their classic Fettuccine Alfredo was rich without being heavy, and the Calamari was surprisingly tender with a light, crispy coating. We have been coming to this location for years. It has never been worthy of a 5-star review, but it is always a solid 4. The ambience is nice and the service is always top notch with no issues. Being that there usually is a wait to get seated, you need to give a little extra leniency to the servers since they are really hustling. Always friendly and quick to take care of you. Many times, we get soup and salad. There have been a few times that I order Chicken & Gnocchi and there are one or two gnocchi in the soup. Sometimes I even need to send it back due to this as the soup is great when it is in it, but not so much when you are eating just a broth. The bread sticks are great, and the salad is awesome. Keep in mind, the salad is always overdressed but we prefer it that way instead of on the dry side. The food is very good, but you can tell it is a chain restaurant. We don't go in expecting a high-level Executive Chef from Italy is making our meal. Only once in 20 years or more that we have been eating here has a meal been sent back. Had a great meal here tonight celebrating a veteran in the family. We had delicious hot fresh food. The service was excellent (thank you Connor ). The staff were all so nice and polite. The hostess stand was very efficient. Restaurant was super clean and it wasn't too loud inside. You could still have a nice conversation without shouting even though the place was packed with a 45 minute wait. We joined the online wait list so our wait was not very long once we arrived. I visited for Saturday dinner. It was busy but I didn't have to wait for dine in. The server was friendly but we had to wait for a while to get the service and didn't come back often. But overall I like Olive Garden! If you order any entree, you can choose either soup or salad and it's unlimited refills. I always choose soup and my husband chooses salad so we can share both. Also you can change the soup when you asked for refills. I tried 3 soups total out of 4. Lol. I like all soups I got, and the salad is the best!! Garlic bread sticks are good too. Everything is over price and not season very well. Of course we had kids with us and they enjoyed their entrées but they also don't know what to look for. my husband's food arrived, and it looked like it was sitting in a plate of grease or oil he took two bites and was done. Having kids is the ever-changing roller coaster in life. I love it! My son recently turned 11 years old and wanted to go to the Olive garden. No one knows exactly why he wanted to go but he wanted to go so we went. I knew what to expect of the Olive garden, so I enjoyed my experience. Unfortunately, my son became ill and was not able to enjoy his meal but the rest of the family did. We had the unlimited breadsticks, the Brad is amazing! My wife and I shared a family style Caesar salad which was good. My daughter and son both had scratch made pasta. My wife had pasta I had salmon. Always decent. Not overwhelming, not underwhelming but just middle of the road. No reason to complain. Also, no reason to be overly excited. Our weight staff was great. The hostess was great. They gave my son a dessert for his birthday (again he became sick and had to take it to go) and the overall experience was with solid. I think the last time I ate at a OG was 4years ago after the same event- and really these should be pretty streamline. Our server was Jesse, and she was nice and polite- but forgot one of our drink orders and gave the ordered coffee drink to the wrong person. Doesn't really matter - wasn't wrong, or something that couldn't be switched back quickly. We ordered some apps - the lasagna fritta and the fried mozzarella, healthy options. The lasagna was good: lasagna noodle strips with ricotta on them friend and topped with red sauce. Wasn't too bad. The fried mozzarella was ok, I remember them being triangles back in the day and being a lot better. Of course salad breadsticks were next in which i was full, but we pressed on. Vog and I both ordered the giant chicken parm - part of their new menu with giant versions of Italian classics. Yikes. Was a massive chicken piece and portioned next to fettuccini Alfredo. The chicken was basically a large chicken nugget topped with red sauce and cheese. I guess having the real deal usually made this kind of underwhelming. If they had fried it a while longer and made it more taut, would have been a lot better. Got the black tie mousse cake for dessert - one my dad and i used to share back when. Choked back some memories when I got to the chocolate chips on the back edge and laid the check. Overall - good service, prompt meals, but just ok in terms of quality. My wife and I had a really great early dinner on a Sunday at this restaurant. My wife had lasagna and i had the chicken margherita. They were both excellent. I liked the chicken because the lemon- herb sauce wasn't runny- it was more of a glaze. It was absolutely delicious. Our server, Alexa, was warm, engaging , attentive and she for everything right. The restaurant was clean- most of the tables were booths- it was very comfortable and it was definitely worth the drive from Germantown! Don't forget the $6 entree deals. Grinder in hand she made 16 turns for me (I like parmesan). We tried each of these soups and loved them all (but not equally): Chicken & Gnocchi - A creamy soup made with roasted chicken, traditional Italian dumplings and spinach. Pasta e Fagioli - White and red beans, ground beef, fresh tomatoes and tubetti pasta in a savory broth. Minestrone - Fresh vegetables, beans and pasta in a light tomato broth - a vegan classic. Let me first off say that is location is BUSY!! Especially on the weekends! Lol like the wait times can be 1hour and 10 mins. I went there at 6:00pm on a Saturday and the wait time was 1hour. We decided to go to Barnes and noble which killed the time. Parking is not an issue here either. Plenty of spaces The atmosphere is loud and that is because they are busy and people love this spot. Lol the food was good!!! I love how they let you sample a wine. Their bread was salty and kind of hard so we didn't care for it really. The house salad is bomb per usual! I think it's because of their Italian dressing. Ask for it on the side because it can taste too overwhelming. The kids meal portions are big for a 4 year old but perfect for a 10 year old child. Totally unprofessional from the ground up. From the time we arrived, (party of 11) we were told a 30 minute wait. I proceeded to the beverage area and ordered our favorite Moscato, Primo Amore with 2 glasses. I explained our party was around the corner and waiting for our table. After being served, a manager came and told me the drinks had to stay in the beverage area. I responded with, "no problem. The last time (1 month ago) I enjoyed my glass with my cigarette outside. She (Emma) responded with "ummm, no your not." Again, I explained this was the last trip and I'm not one to start a problem. I was not informed during the last trip and there is no signage stating the rules. Many rules have changed in our area post covid. After being seated and the order was placed, "Stephanie" one of our servers was asked to bring 2 more salad bowls. Stephanie asked how many people because the bowls are large. After my Aunt had counted 1,2,3... Stephanie replied with then "I'm only bringing 1." My aunt tried to explain 3 had salads and 4 more needed salads. She returned with 3 bowls and cheese was requested. The roll of her eyes was enough to make anyone disgusted. A quick 2 spins on the cheese grater and gone. As frequent guests, we are use to the server asking, "let me know when..." I left the table to see the manager (Emma) and ask that Stephanie not return to our table. She asked why. I explained that our family was not happy with her attitude. Emma replied, "yeah, I get that. But I want to know why. Like what happened. " After going in detail, she began to berate me by telling me I'm slurring and stumbling over my words. I assure you, that is a lie. I'm currently writing this from my car still at Olive Garden in Frederick, MD. This happened moments ago. Emma thought she had to remind me by saying, "Don't you remember, I'm the one who told you not to drink outside?" I replied, "I remember clearly. We haven't been to an Olive Garden in years because there isn't one close to our new house. Since we were in the Frederick area today, we were very excited to stop by for lunch. Yes it's a chain restaurant but I love the familiarity as soon as you walk in the door. The food was just as good as I remembered it. Our favs were the chicken Marsala and chicken parm. My kids kept eating the soup (Zuppa Toscana), salad, and breadsticks. The brownie lasagna and tiramisu were delicious too! The hostess wasn't the nicest but we got the sweetest waitress (I think her name was Erin.) She accommodated our big family and really made my 5 year old's birthday meal feel so special. I may get criticism for a 5-star review of OG. I've been to this location twice. Both times were for the "Never Ending Pasta Bowl", which is an annual event every October & November. My friend goes every year, and I have joined him a couple of times. Lucky him, his birthday is in November too! That is where he wanted his birthday celebration. We all fought traffic to get up to Frederick on that Wednesday since there are sadly NO Olive Garden in all of Montgomery County...Sad! The closest to me is Hyattsville, but for the birthday boy Frederick is the easiest to get to during evening rush hour. As for the food, the salad is great and the bread sticks are delicious. I asked for lots of olives in the salad, and they were generous with those olives. As for the pasta, there are like 30 combinations of pastas and sauces to choose from in the Never Ending Pasta Bowl deal. If you get a meat, there are like 180 different combinations of things you can get! I especially liked the Cavatappi with Five cheese marinara. But the angel hair was great as was the rigatoni with mushroom sauce. My birthday friend got a meat as did some in my party. I didn't want to pay any extra to fill up on meat; my main focus was on pasta. However, the birthday friend refused to eat any salad, soup, or bread as he was saving for pasta. But I couldn't pass up the free delicious bread sticks. I only had two, but my one friend was shocked I would dare eat two. Our server Antonio was very accommodating. I do go to the Frederick Olive Garden often I take my elderly mother. But I have a problem with the call ahead seating. Sometimes you cant always go online and do call ahead seating that way and you are unable to do it over the phone now at Olive Garden. I rather not do it online anyway unless I want them to now have my email. It is so nice that other places still do call ahead seating over the phone. The food is pretty good for lunch but the Minestrone has way to many noddles/shells in it but my mother just picks them out. Wish they would do call ahead seating over the phone. read more
