My youngest was home from college for the weekend and she introduced me to Cookout. The Mocksville location is take-out only. Some Cookouts offer dine-in as well. My daughter has been to Cookouts many times so she is a veteran of how to navigate the menu. My suggestion to you is to go online and study their menu and different options how to order. You'll thank me later. Anyway, I ordered a tray, it comes with a main dish and two sides. I got the big double burger with Cajun fries and cheese bites and a Diet Coke. My daughter ordered the same with a sweet tea. I chose lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup and mayo as toppings. I have to say, the burger, which came with two patties was very good. Nice chargrill flavor and the toppings were fresh and crisp. The fries appear to be fresh-cut and were, well, fries. The cheese bites were very crisp and tasty. The drive thru process was very quick. Our order was taken and filled in a timely manner. The staff was friendly and efficient. All in all it was a positive experience. And the best part? My daughter and I had a good lunch all for $18 for both is us. The burger is the best fast food burger in Davie County. It's not even close. It is right off the I40 main Mocksville exit (exit 170 I believe). Large packing lot. Drive thru is efficient. Food is standard Cookout items. Great shakes. Decent burgers and dogs. Right now this Cookout isn't as crowded as most but I expect that to change in the future.

I got the pimento cheeseburger all the way with fries. Our server Pam was as sweet as could be helping score the biscuits and gravy. Wife's food was plentiful and delicious. Biscuits were tender and the gravy creamy and delicious. My burger, although a bit messy as you'd expect was delicious as well with all the toppings maintaining their taste and not getting muddled with their brethren. With tip I think the total was around $17. That was a touch more expensive than I was expecting especially with just a bag of chips on the side. The sandwich was good. Between the blue cheese and the ranch it was really creamy and most of the toppings slide off with the second bite. I don't mind a mess though! The ciabatta bread was the perfect compliment for the sandwich. It was a cute spot and I especially liked the creative sandwich names. I'd go back and try the chicken ceasar wrap next time.

Why does a deli not have sliced onion for its sandwiches? On the positive side, my father-in-law really liked his chili. I always order the fluffy on GF with no cheese, and he always orders the Italian on GF with no cheese. There is cross contamination, so if you are celiac, you can ask them to change gloves, use a clean knife, and keep your sandwich away from the others. We have almost never received the correct order without cheese the first time, but they don't make a fuss when asked to remake the sandwiches, and they are very apologetic. These sandwiches are generous with the meat and other fillings, and the pizza-crust-as-bread works so well. We also get their delicious potato salad with our sandwiches. The seating area is not huge, maybe ten tables, but we've never had to wait for one, and we often take our order to go. The restaurant is clean, and parking is fairly convenient. Even with the issue of having to remake sandwiches, I still rate Blake's a solid five star. It's consistently delicious, and I like supporting a small business in my home community.
