I was surprised when my 91 year old father told me that a man from Jersey Tree Care showed up at his house and quoted him a price of just $600 for taking down a 50 foot Juniper. This was just one day after we had requested a quote. The tree was one of a pair. The other came crashing down in a storm a few years ago, narrowly missing the house, so we wanted to take this one out - it was old and decayed and at risk. My father is hard of hearing, and I thought that maybe he mis-heard the quoted price -- was it really not $600 but $1600? I called Kevin Doyle, the owner of the company, on a Saturday afternoon, and he said, that yes, it was just $600, and added that it was an easy tree - despite the fact that it was situated in a tight space between two houses. At the time I called, they were out on another job, but they showed up first thing on Monday morning. My own work allows me to have work-from-home days on Mondays and Fridays, and I normally spend those days at my father's house, so I was on hand when they arrived. His experienced crew attacked the tree with verve. They looped a rope over a limb on a nearby Oak tree and attached the rope to the upper part of the Juniper. I thought that they would have to bring in a cherry picker to do this job, but one of them climbed straight up the trunk - to a height of about 40 feet using a one-handed chain saw to lop off small branches as he ascended, and ropes and straps to stabilize himself. I expected the top of the tree to come crashing down, but no, they stabilized it with ropes and brought it down gently. While the one guy was up in the tree, the other two at the base were feeding the fallen branches into a wood-chipping machine as they came down. In the end, the entire tree was reduced to wood chips in the space of about an hour - exactly as Kevin Doyle had predicted. My father has long since retired, and Kevin Doyle explained that one reason for the low price is that he likes to give a break to seniors on limited incomes who might have a hard time affording this type of work. That was very nice of him and we very much appreciate it. Jersey Tree Care delivered good value. They were thoroughly professional, insured, very experienced with a strong work ethic, a rapid response time and the most modern equipment. If we ever need to take out another tree, we will definitely go with Jersey Tree Care. read more

Just had work done in Mahwah. I had 6 trees that were too close to the house or dead. I sent a request on their website and Marc reached out. I told him my needs and Marc was there the following day. He walked me to each tree. He was very knowledgeable and explained in detail of what would be included in the proposal. I received the proposal and was one of the cheapest among the local options. Considering the recent storms they were able to get me on schedule in a timely manner versus the other proposals were minimum 8 weeks out. Marc called me the night before the work was scheduled and confirmed the appointment. Work started on time and they moved very quick. Had all 6 trees down that day. He took away what I didn't want and left me wood that I could use for the fireplace. Kevin stopped by to introduce himself and check on his crews. While he was there he pointed out 3 stumps of small dead trees I cut down myself. He asked if wanted him to take care of them while he had his guys out doing the other stumps and he took care of them no charge. They came back the following business day and ground up all the stumps down to where I can plant grass, took away the remaining trunks and cleaned up the debris. I usually don't write reviews which is really bad since I like to look at other peoples reviews before selecting a company or service. However, I would like to review Jersey Tree Care & say how happy I was with Kevin's company. I had a big limb of a neighbors maple tree fall into my backyard & in addition to another mulberry tree which was another neighbors tree that I was concerned about & called Kevin to get an estimate. He came by the same day I called, several hours later, & saw that the neighbors tree was actually old and should really be taken down for the safety of both our houses. He wound up talking to the neighbor & negotiated the price so that the neighbor paid for the whole tree to be taken down. He then gave me a good price on taking 3 big, high limbs off the other neighbors mulberry tree which hung over my garage & I had been concerned about for awhile. The crew moved deck furniture, umbrella & plant stands off my deck while taking down the big maple tree & returned everything to deck in its place along with blowing all wood shavings away and left the area clean. Jersey Tree is one of the best companies I have ever done business with. Kevin is an extremely ambitious and conscientious worker. I truly believe he wants to make everybody happy, and has his crew do the same. He gives out his own phone number, so I was able to contact him at all hours of the day. He assured me that all my questions and concerns were important and well taken. His prices are great, and he came to my home 2 times before the scheduled work to make sure everything I wanted done was clear. He and is crew are all so polite and respectful. On the day of the scheduled work I was taken around the yard again to go over details one last time before they began their work. The crew worked so professionally and did a fabulous job. I was really impressed with their courtesy and respect for my property. After completion, I was taken around the yard one last time to make sure I was thoroughly happy with the job before they left. Their clean up job was awesome..they left my place immaculate...like they were never there. ...except for now my trees look great!!!! Update on Jersey Tree company cleanup after tree removal. The tree removal went well they were careful to put boards down when entering my driveway from the street to protect it.However when it was time to clean up things went south. The log removal truck did not use boards , I was standing on my porch and watched them pull out of my driveway on an angle cracking my driveway and smashing. part of the curb. Kevin was also very rude to my neighbors who allowed the crew to use their back yard for log removal and were very slow to clean it up. Kevin made a comment their yard was a piece of shit. We have requested multiple times since APRIL for the driveway to be fixed as Kevin himself after my repeat calls to him said it would be repaired. Here is is the end of July and the repair is not yet done. Kevin is nice when he he is doing the job but once it is done he is a different person. My next step is the BBB and small claims court. read more

Marc at Jersey Tree Care was fantastic. I had one pine that was just stripped down and ugly, left that way by the previous owners, and one gorgeous tree by my deck that had unfortunately developed a crack along a core limb that made it a danger to the house. Marc seemed to genuinely care that there wasn't a safe way to preserve the tree. He looked over the tree in detail and explained to me the risks of cutting trying to cable the limb, and of removing only the limb. His estimate was among the lowest I'd received, and he took the time to really review the trees rather than just providing a cost to remove them sight unseen. He was extremely responsive getting back to me with details and a quote. I can't say enough great things about Kevin and Jersey Tree Care. Two large trees crashed into my house. I called him right away. Unfortunately, since the trees were on power lines there was nothing he could do except wait until the power company first removed the tree portion from the power lines. Kevin was back at my house the minute the tree had been removed (before I even called him!!!). His crew worked for hours removing the tree, being mindful of not causing more damage to my house. Kevin came back to my house two more times to grind up the stump. Once because the shed above the stump couldn't be remove without partially grinding up the stump and then a second time for what was left. Jersey Tree Care is awesome and I recommend them highly. I was looking for a good company to cut three big trees which didn't allow the sunlight to come into my house. I asked my neighbor who had cut the huge tree she used to have on her yard. She told me it had been Jersey Tree Care. Furthermore, she highly recommended them as offering excellent prices and doing quality work. She wasn't wrong. I had a wonderful experience with Jersey Tree Care. They came the next day after my request for an estimate. The price was fair and did an excellent job cutting the trees and grinding the stumps, leaving a clean, beautiful yard behind. They come with a large well coordinated team who work fast and proficiently. I highly recommend this company and will hire them again to cut a couple of trees in the back yard next year. Our experience with Jersey Tree Care was very positive. We were scheduled for the tree work to be done and there was an unforeseen storm that occurred the Saturday before our Monday morning appointment. When I spoke with Kevin Monday morning he stated they had an emergency job to take care of in a neighboring town and then they would be over. They showed up later in the afternoon, crane, crew and chipper ready to go. Job done well and the crew was very professional, knowledgeable and extremely neat especially given the size of the trees being worked on. Jersey Tree Care did a great job in removing a tree from my front yard. A huge branch had fallen from the tree and I could see that high up another branch was dangling. I called Kevin while I was at work and he said he would go to my house and check out the tree. He told me the price to prune the tree. When I asked him about the split trunk he told me the tree had probably been hit by lightening a while ago and now had an infestation of carpenter ants. I asked for the price to remove the tree and he provided it. I opted for this choice and the next had a team of people who professionally removed the tree in about 1 1/2 hrs. Everything was cleaned-up and mulched as they worked. Similar to another reviewer, pieces of the trunk were left curbside to be picked up within a few days. I am a 73 year old attorney who hired Jersey Tree Care to cut down and remove two trees, grind several stumps and, most importantly, immediately and safely trim dangerously-overhanging limbs from a neighbor's huge dead tree, one of which limbs already had broken off and partially fallen and simply was 'hanging' precariously over my back yard endangering my family and grandchild. These guys did a great job on a fairly difficult project. Removed a bunch of trees including one that was leaning mightily into my neighbors yard. They were careful not to disturb my neighbor's property and my neighbor, who was watching, even asked them for a quote on trees in their yard. Marc was easy to work with on the initial quote. We agreed on a fair price (had 3 other quotes and theirs was the best) and settled on a date. Unfortunately, it poured on the schedule day but they were there first thing the next morning to start the job. Kevin was on site to inspect the project and did offer some advice on a few things they came across while removing some of the trees. They came back a few days later to grind the agreed upon stumps. Kevin, Allyssa and the crew at Jersey Tree Care are simply the best tree service we've been able to find in Bergen County. We have a neighbor whose high trees were overhanging our property and home. Since he refused to trim them, we had to take care of that. We'd been through two other tree services and spent way too much money with them, only to find that they couldn't complete our job properly. They simply didn't have the right equipment to work in our narrow side yard. Kevin has a spider rig that lets his crew operate in a very narrow space and work higher in a tree than a boom truck could ever do. That's what we needed. HIs crew was nice to have around. Great Service by Kevin. I came across his Yelp review while searching for a local tree service. He answers phone or calls back right away. I had to cut 4 big trees - one urgently as it was leaning towards the house. Kevin came next day and provided estimate (even offered deferred payment based on need). He cleared schedule and came the following day as the leaning tree was a risk to house. Highly recommend - reasonable price (in my case it was half the highest quote), very knowledgeable in trees, has gadgets to check for hollow bark, above all nice person and great service.
