I've lived in Raleigh for 14 years, and while I've enjoyed a few things from The Fresh Market before, I had never tried their bakery items. When I saw them on the Too Good To Go app, I decided it was the perfect excuse to run out and try it. My first two interactions were fantastic--the lovely elderly woman in the bakery and the sweet cashier checking me out were absolutely amazing and treated me with genuine kindness. However, the front-end manager (I believe her name was Tip or Tiff) completely ruined the experience. Her demeanor was an absolute deterrent. In an interaction that lasted less than three minutes, she hounded the cashier, repeating four or five times: *"Make sure you watch her scan it on the app."* The first time she said it, I thought nothing of it--just standard store process. But repeating it aggressively that many times while I, a Black customer, am just standing there rubbed me entirely the wrong way. To make matters worse, I had also picked up a granola bar to purchase. The manager came over *again*, hounding the girl: *"What are you doing? I have to make sure. Did you actually see her scan it?"* I felt incredibly sorry for the poor cashier, and frankly, I felt targeted. It is deeply frustrating to still deal with people acting like I don't belong in spaces where I absolutely do--and it's even more disheartening when that energy comes from another minority. If I had known I'd be treated with that level of baseline suspicion, I wouldn't have even spent money on the granola bar. That manager's behavior completely turned me away from ever spending my money at this store again. I truly hope this is a lesson for her in how she treats people. To the sweet cashier and the wonderful woman in the bakery, thank you for being decent human beings--I hope you both have an amazing day.

I got I got a $20 regular New York strip. It's beautiful and the guy that worked the meat department. I could tell he was tired like they've been hit hard. They were out of like so much stuff because I didn't go in there late in the evening, but he was very nice and very professional and checkout was fast and easy.

We would never have known about it on our own. We saw the bread immediately, and it was the same price as at the Baghdad--($3/4 loaves). The rest of the shop was pretty much the same as most Mediterranean markets. They had lots of spices, a small meat counter, some nuts, cheeses and some frozen items. I was hoping to see a fresh olive bar (they are the "Olive Tree," after all!), but they didn't have one. Prices were reasonable, but the frozen foods prices seemed a bit on the high side.

The decor and ambiance seem a little crowded lately. With my schedule I only have time to shop at night and they are usually in clean up / time to go home mode. There best crew work mornings. The last couple of times I've shopped there the food didn't seem as Fresh, I normally get Maryland Cakes, Shrimp and Turkey Burgers. The turkey burgers I purchased last time didn't look the best, they looked as if they'd been sitting in the case for a while. Not sure if I would purchase food from Fresh Market anymore but I'll still shop for wine and champagne there. If you decide to shop at The Fresh Market go early morning or mid afternoon.
