My co workers and I were out at Solano avenue stroll all day. We had walked about 5 miles and it was really hot. I was very tired and extremely famished. The only thing on my mind was "I need some food that will lift up my spirits". We happened to stumble upon Jerusalem because it was at the end of Solano Avenue and we did not have the strength to go anywhere else for food. I can say with full confidence that that was the best decision we made! The food was 10/10 experience. Maybe my hunger made it taste better but you really can't say their food is not good. I got their combination platter with chicken and lamb. Perfect seasoning that went well with the saffron rice, hummus and pita. It was so refreshing!! Additionally, the portions are so big! I could hardly fit everything on my plate. I was so so happy about that. The restaurant itself is easy to miss in my opinion and seems a bit old but that gives it a nice aesthetic. The service was good but they were quiet busy with other customers so they could not really focus on us. I didn't care though, I was just so focused on finishing up the delicious meal. The falafel plate I would eat every day their house made red chili sauce. There's more on the sweet side, but it hits perfectly mixing with the Tajín. I'm a big Guy and I like to eat, this plate hit the spot. I'm full. The flavor was amazing. When those falafel balls broke up the aroma that taste perfectly, nice and crispy and soft inside. Been here twice now to try the wrap and the plate. I much preferred the plate however it's quite expensive for what it is and they charge you extra if you want both hummus and rice. I was really excited for the wrap because it was nicely toasted on the outside and pretty big but it was pretty much all salad greens with a few pieces of chicken that you could barely taste. I asked to add rice to both my wrap and my husband's but neither of us got rice so that was disappointing as rice probably would have made it much better. First time here, we actually were planning on having Thai across the street. But seen this spot and walked over. Small cafe type place, owners very friendly and greet you upon arrival. No sit-down menus so you have to order at the counter. But since there was only 1 person in the place it was fine. Ordering is quick and easy. Good amount of food for your buck.. soup could have had more flavor but we will order a different one next time. Falafels are excellent and chicken wrap was good. My platter had kebabs and all were flavorful. Definitely a place to come to lots of foot traffic, people ordering and picking up, seems like phone orders. We came here for lunch and ordered the Middle Eastern platter and the cashier automatically updated us to the Falafel platter for an extra two dollars. It was strange he didn't ask us and when I asked about the higher price, he said the Flalafel platter is better so he ordered it for us and it includes falafels. The Falafel platter was good but I have never been upgraded to a different dish without being asked first so that's a bit presumptuous. We also ordered a chicken wrap and that price was also higher than on the menu attached to their ordering table. It was about a dollar higher. I wonder if they didn't update their menu prices. We enjoyed our food and overall experience so much we returned on a separate occasion, possibly to celebrate my 27th birthday, with me, her and my dad. He enjoyed dining here as well. Both times I was living off of Solano Avenue, so the restaurant was not too far from the house. We chose to eat a little staggered from meal rush times and were happy to find available seating and a relatively quiet interior. NOT ORGANIC. Nothing in this place is organic, I say that's false advertising. First time I asked they must've lied and told me it was. Second time I went and asked just to be sure the lady said no and that if it was she'd have to charge me 3x as much. She said it in a snotty tone like I was being difficult. It's pricey enough as it is that's why I assumed it was and to say it in your name is misleading! Thought I was eating clean glyphosate and pesticide free food all this time. Such a bummer. The inside of Jerusalem Organic Kitchen looks quite rustic and dated, but this restaurant turns out seriously delicious and high-quality Israeli dishes! The Falafel Platter came with a colorful assortment of mezzes including four crispy, herbaceous chickpea fritters; hummus; baba ghanoush; Jerusalem salad (lettuce, tomato, and cucumber topped with za'atar); tabbouleh (parsley, bulgur, tomato salad topped with sesame seeds); feta cheese; olives; whole wheat pita bread; tahini; and a tomato-based hot sauce on the side. My favorite components were the falafel and hummus, which were both fresh and flavorful! The Combination Skewers Patter came with three freshly-grilled skewers: chicken, beef, and lamb kofta, and my favorite was the kofta, which was perfectly spiced and grilled to juicy perfection. This is a small, inviting, and cute place on the corner of The Alameda and Solano Ave. They have several tables inside and some outside, and it seems they do a lot of takeout. It's not fancy, but places like this are usually my favorite because, even if the atmosphere is casual, the taste of the food more than makes up for it. I noticed another review mentioning that customers were served in takeout containers with plasticware, but that wasn't the case with our meal. I wonder if there was something off that day--perhaps they were low on staff or a dishwasher wasn't working, or maybe they took the reviewers' comments into consideration. My husband and I had the morning off to run errands and decided to grab a bite to eat. He suggested Jerusalem Organic, as we'd seen it many times but had never tried it. Since we weren't super hungry, we decided to share a plate. We opted for the chicken shawarma plate, which was gluten-free. I got the pita on the side for my husband. The food was soooo delicious. The staff were so kind, and the restaurant accommodated all 8 of us for my foodie mother in laws birthday. Her request she loves the food at Jerusalem and now the whole family loves this restaurant and esp the owner and service. The food! EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. We loved the lamb and chicken kebabs. Nothing was dry, everything so tasty. The place is clean, complete with tables to accommodate people who are there for a a quick bite or to go. Located on the top of Solano Ave, parking is easy to find. Depending on if you want to pay you have street parking, but also if you go on side streets you don't have to pay. When you enter, the interior seems a bit run down and the tables were a bit dirty. They seemed to have a variety of food options on their menu from wraps to hot platters to seafood. We ended up ordering the lamb Jerusalem burger and the shawarma wrap with hummus and fries. Presentation wise, it was a bit disappointing. The fries and hummus were served in a to go container even though we were sitting in the restaurant. Our food was served on a paper plate with plastic forks. We were excited to try their pita bread thinking maybe it was homemade; however we saw it was coming straight out of a plastic bag that one could get out of safeway. After driving by many times my Israeli friend and I decided to try out this restaurant. We both got their house made lemonade (delicious) and the falafel wrap. Delicious! The last place I had falafels they tasted like sawdust. But these were crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside with lots of flavor. One of the best chicken shawarmas I've had in the Bay Area. The meat is thinly sliced and very well spiced. The spicy sauce is incredible. The rice is pretty unique and has some veggies in it. I love that the meat is very tastefully done and not brute force like a lot of other places. They have cute outdoor seating as well and staff is super nice. One of my clients recommended this place a while back, raved about the salmon. I didn't feel like cooking tonight so I placed my order via grubhub. The salmon was delicious and a generous portion! It comes with a sweet/spicy sauce. The falafel were tasty, a little crunch on the outside and not dry when you bite into them. Everything else was meh- nothing to rave about. I got the salmon plate with a side of falafel. The rice was bland and the "pita pocket" tasted store-bought. Salad was average. I won't be rushing back. The interior didn't look like a dine-in place. In an age when most of the "fast food" I buy demonstrates little if any pride, I'm especially happy when I can find a restaurant that consistently provides high quality takeout food. I've purchased many falafel wraps from Jerusalem Kitchen and today a chicken shawarma wrap. As usual: it's great. The primary filling, in this case chicken, is moist and tasty. The vegetables are substantial, fresh and varied in the best way. Same for the falafel wraps I've had in the past - great veggies and moist, freshly made falafel balls. This place is a gem!! I have never actually been to the restaurant. But, one evening I was craving salmon, and it's so hard to find restaurants that serve wild salmon as opposed to farmed. So, I did a Google search and this is literally the only place that came up that had wild salmon. So, I took a chance and ordered. Super yummy spot with outdoor seating. I had just finished a hike in Tilden Park and this spot showed up on my Yelp radar. As of this writing (August 2021) there isn't any indoor seating. Outdoor seating surrounds the perimeter. I got the Middle Eastern plate ($8.25) with Humos, Jerusalem Salad, Tabbouleh, Babaganoush, Feta Cheese, Olives and Pita Bread. It absolutely hit the spot after a rigorous hike. The tabbouleh was very fresh as was the babaganoush. The Jerasalem salad was a bit soggy for my taste, but still tasty nonetheless. Daughter got the mini plate and lemme tell you, the falafel is amazing - tender, flavorful and addictive. It came with four small falafels. one Dolma, Humos, Jerusalem Salad, Pita Bread, and Tahini and Hot Sauce. They prefer cash as payment but also accept credit cards. I think I must have Middle Eastern DNA I have been enjoying it for many years and actually like to cook some of my own at home. I couldn't wait to try this place not only does it say it's organic, its traditional dishes that I'm used to enjoying. When you arrive you're welcomed and the interior is very nice although you can't eat there right now you have to eat outside. So Customer Service and interior gets 2 stars. The food actually looked beautiful and was gigantic por portions, there's nothing to complain about except as soon as I saw the pita bread I was so sad. My food was accompanied by a cheap store quality that you can get at any store. But if I'm going to be fair it's only fair I take the blame because I saw the cheaply pita on the counter but there was a better brand underneath. I should have asked for the better quality I assumed! If you're going to be serving organic food why not go the extra distance and order better quality store pita bread or even better yet, order from a Halal bakery that's local. It's a game changer, this pita was so thin it broke and wasn't ideal. The hummus and baba ganoush were ok and good the falafel could be better and the salad seemed a bit rushed. I prefer my tabuleh much finer.... Nothing like huge chunks of parsley. I was thrown off by the Greek olives and feta cheese but maybe some regions include it? Felt too Mediterranean for my taste. I also didn't get but more than a tablespoon of that of tzaziki. I was hungry and it served it's purpose but I was expecting much more. The baklava was also not fresh. It was dry and fell apart. I hope this review inspires this place to step it up, they can fool some but not those of us who know this food. I can't go back, and I hope your experience there is better than mine. read more

We love food! Even if we don't like a dish, we'll probably finish it. We did NOT finish this food. We ordered the falafel platter ($13.25) and the chicken shawarma wrap ($11.25) We got the items to eat outside, so there was little to no time passed before we dug in. The platter was flavorless and the wrap was full of soggy lettuce. We decided to try and salvage the wrap by taking out the chicken. We only had to dig 2/3 down the shawarma core before that well was tapped.
