I really should've sued them, but I was younger, and fairly naive. I had a female dr. whose name started with a Z. I can't remember the name, but she had dark hair. Anyways. She had my knee immobilized three times longer than it should've been, according to the other ortho dr's and physical therapists I've seen. At one of my appointments, I had a $30 co-pay and wasn't even in the building for a full 15 minutes! She asked if I could bend my knee yet, I said no. She poked around, asking if it hurt, I said yes, and she said to go to physical therapy. The physical therapist I went to immediately after said I had more scar tissue built up in my knee from being immobilized so long than I would've had if I'd had surgery.

Had he not done that, I would've gotten my ROM back. Insurance dropped me because I "wasn't making progress". I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane.

Fortunately, they had an MRI available at another location. However, when I went to see the scheduler to schedule my mom's MRI, that was where we experienced the most disservice. The scheduler assisting us was Sara, and she was the most condescending, insulting, and arrogant person I have ever met. First, she called my mom's name, and I told my mom that I could speak on her behalf to get the appointment scheduled. Sara replied with an annoyed tone, "I need the patient. I have questions for her to answer." I explained that I handle all my mom's scheduling and that she gives me full consent to assist her. Sara responded, "Why do you know all her history?" So, I asked my mom to come up just to get it over with. Then, Sara asked if my mom spoke English, and my mom answered "Yes." Sara responded with an insulting look and said, "Do you speak English... WELL?" My mom pointed to me and said she would tell me if there was something she didn't understand. Then, Sara asked my mom what her primary language was, saying it was needed to arrange for a translator. She continued asking question after question, which both my mom and I answered. Afterward, Sara asked, in a condescending tone, "Are you going with her to the MRI appointment?" I said yes, and she replied, "Okay, because I don't know how good our translators are." Then, Sara said the earliest appointment she had available was on the 28th, which was a Friday. If that didn't work, she had Saturday available. I told her I would prefer Saturday, as I work Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. She responded in a condescending and insulting tone, "No, not Saturday. Erase that. She can only go Monday to Friday because she needs a translator." I explained that my mom understood the language, but Sara insisted, "No, she needs a translator. Forget I said Saturday. She cannot go on that day." I reminded her that I would be accompanying my mom, especially since she had asked if I was going, as she wasn't sure how good the translators were. Despite this, she insisted that my mom could not go on the Saturday appointment. I finally told her to forget it and that we would go with an outside provider who could accommodate us on a Saturday. I don't understand why my mom couldn't go on the Saturday appointment when I can translate for her. It wasn't my mom's first time having an MRI--she had previously had MRIs of her brain and neck. I don't understand why she was making such a big deal out of it. I thought Sara would help us make it work, but instead, we felt mistreated and insulted by her actions and words.

I went to Dr Mather years ago because I had 2 prior disc replacements for L4-L5 that didn't feel…read moreright. He did tests, and set me up for surgery. I had a third L4-L5 disc replacement, and then told me that he was leaving for 5 days with his family, and left a PA in charge. I told her every day for 5 days in the hospital that I had severe pain, different from prior surgeries, from my left hip to knee to the inside of my left lower leg. She rolled her eyes each time and told me to push the button (for pain meds.) When Dr Mather returned and saw I hadn't eaten or slept, and was in such severe pain, he did a CT scan and at the end of his day, at 10:30 pm, he took me back to surgery. After recovery, he said, "I removed a cherry pit sized piece of disc material that I inadvertently left behind." He said it could be 2-3 months before the very irritated L4 root nerve would calm down. He kept raising my dose of pain meds as I went to follow up appointments. After 4 months, he switched me to Oxycontin because he couldn't raise the Norco dose any higher due to too much acetaminophen. He said, "In some cases like yours, the root nerve never recovers, and I'm afraid that's what happened here." I became disabled for life, I lost my beloved nursing job, and could barely do anything that I previously loved to do. He referred me to a pain clinic. I went back periodically for Dr Mather to sign for a disabled car plaquard, and the last time, he yelled at me, "I will not sign this! I did no such thing! You are no longer my patient! SECURITY! Escort this person out of my office!!" Be very careful if anything goes wrong! The only reason I didn't bring suit is I lost my 22 year old son 2 months after surgery; 2 months before being told I was disabled for life. Otherwise, it would have been an easy win. People make mistakes, but when he kicked me out of his office, and denied it all happened, that made me sick. I continue to have complications now, years later. If I could give ZERO STARS, I would.

Then I saw him right after the MRI to diagnose the problem and he proceeded to order a cortisone shot and physical therapy. I got the shot before I left the office. Now on my way to feeling much better in a quality and highly effective visit today.

The nurse? who took me back was very kind and when she was finished, the wait for the doctor was not long at all. Dr. Andrew Kim was kind, patient, answered all my questions and could not have been more reassuring. He took as much time as necessary and at no time did I feel he was rushing to see his next patient. If you are in need of an orthopedic surgeon, this is the man. He specializes in joint replacement. I was able to get an appointment within a week, not bad for a new patient. Exam rooms were clean and spacious.

Seriously? My toe is sending shooting pain across my foot and up my ankle. Apparently speaking louder to me will make me believe the pain in the toe is not the issue. Very unproductive visit, so after 3 years of co-pays I am seeking a 2nd opinion elsewhere.
