Wanted to get some coffee and sweets with two other people and came across this pastry shop. There were a few seating which was available by what looked like a "hallway"(?) but we didnt really mind as there was no heavy foot traffic. their chocolate (opera) cake was really good and their lemon Madeleine too! brought more for home along with their canneles. The raspberry pistachio croissant was pretty but im just not a raspberry fan in general and found the filling to be quite tarty. for drinks, I got their Mocha latte and enjoyed that as well. If I ever stop by again im definitely getting those madeleines one more time! read more

Nice quaint place, I heard great things but I had gotten the mini salted caramel chocolate cake, and I was hoping to enjoy it make, especially after paying $8 for it. The cocoa nibs was very unpleasant, and the salted caramel, I just couldn't taste it. read more

The perfect spot for a fancy dessert!! I stopped by for dessert after dinner and was so excited. The desserts all looked heavenly it was hard to decide! I went with the giant macaroon with fresh raspberries which was delicious! My husband had the raspberry sorbet which was tart and refreshing. I thought the desserts were reasonably priced around $7.50 for most personal size desserts but they could also easily be shared if you want! There were 3-4 tables where we enjoyed our desserts. Where do I begin? I've been frequenting this place since it first opened. Stepping into Jayce Baudry French Pastry is like being instantly transported to a quiet side street in Paris. The aroma of butter, sugar, and rich chocolate welcomes you, and the sight of the dessert case will make you gasp. Each pastry is a masterpiece. Then of course there are sandwiches and salads to eat as well. This is my go-to for a perfect treat. The desserts are almost too beautiful to eat--true works of edible art. Uber Eats order *** I ordered a large hot chocolate with oat milk. The hot chocolate is made in-house. I also ordered 2 fruit cups. The mixed berry cup has blueberries, sliced strawberries, raspberries, & blackberries. The melon cup has cubed honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon. The fruit was very fresh. We always stop by this jewel box patisserie when in Montclair. Partial to their croissants, plain, chocolate, and chocolate almond. On the last visit snacked on the velvety Parisian flan cake, seated in the small inside area to the right of the restaurant. The server made a decent espresso to accompany it. read more

This has been the location of death for many well respected establishments but not only has Jayce Baudry survived, it's downright thriving. Take a peek in their small Church Street window, soak in all the hand crafted pastries and throw open the doors and damn those New Year resolutions! Always a bit of a crowd but shove your way in, especially on those occasions when every obnoxious Montclairian decides they want a latte and a sweet thing to go with it. My favorite find of 2024. Was walking one night after dinner and saw the beautiful pastries from the window and of course I had to go in and check them out. Picked up a few pastries for my family and a chai tea and was so impressed by the freshness and delicacy of the pastries. I cannot remember the names of the ones I purchased but everyone was so impressed. My favorite was the passion fruit cheesecake. Honestly better than some pasties I had in France. The majority of items I've tried from the bakery have been delicious! Specifically the opera cake and the plain and raspberry croissants. However, I ordered their tropical fruits log cake and the icing and cake was extremely dry and hard. This was the same day I picked up the cake too so I was disappointed especially with the cake's $50 price tag. Update: I left the cake out at room temp for 4 hours since that was recommended by the owner. This softened the buttercream frosting however I still don't think the log cake is as good as their other pastries. You can tell that they put a lot of care and effort into crafting each of their pastries, which all looked gorgeous. Try to take cash if you'd like to avoid a service charge on credit cards! I ended up picking out a hazelnut and chocolate rocher, which I was excited about as hazelnut and chocolate is my favorite combination! The pastry was just as decadent as it looked, and was a little overwhelming in its richness for me to fully enjoy the whole thing. However, it was delicious and clearly made with quality ingredients. An afternoon trip to explore around downtown Montclair. Jayce Baudry was definitely the highlight of the trip. We had a Croissant, a Leek Parmesan Puff, and a Blueberry Muffin while sitting at the outdoor cafe table with umbrella. It was a perfect fall afternoon combination. We also took home a slice of Flan and a Fig & Plum Tart. The tart was unbelievable! The picture probably can do a much better job than my words!!! We can't wait to try the Flan tomorrow! The staff and the owner were very warm and welcoming. We love all the details in the products, the store, and even the receipt. This place is good. I stopped in for a pistachio raspberry tart and the raspberry flavor was great but the pistachio flavor tasted artificial and overly sweet. It's in a great location and it's fun to stop in but I'm not sure I can justify the price of $7 for the specific pastry I chose. When I visited I was on a health kick, so I ordered the parfait and a guava meringue cookie; I loved that there were some options for those looking to keep it light. Really a great pastry shop in Montclair. It feels nice not having to travel into NYC for tasty dessert as we have an awesome choice here in NJ. There are lists of options for dessert. I've previously ordered cakes for holidays and often stop by for their chocolate chip flourless cookies and a coffee. The cookies are soft and tasty. Maybe I'm spoiled but this just didn't hit the spot for me. After spending months in France I was craving a little of it back here. I bought my birthday cake - a cherry black Forrest cake they had in stock- and a few smaller cakes (chocolate, lemon... all different kinds). I also got their flavored meringues. I didn't like any of it. I couldn't even finish the meringues. My boyfriend got the tart and did not finish it either. Consultation is that everyone is SO nice and all the cakes and pastries are definitely Instagram worthy. My dad kind of liked the cake, as well but he is a sweets guy. He'll eat pretty much anything with icing. There is another French bakery within driving distance that we compared to this, was cheaper, and was tastier. I REALLY wanted to love Jayce Baudry because all the pastries are SO GORGEOUS, but for me the flavor is either lacking or too much so (not sweet enough or too sour etc). A cute little patisserie in Montclair. Everything looks delicious. I got an assortment of pastries for my birthday: a Mont Blanc (with pistachio), an eclair, a Parisian flan, and a fruit tart. Out of all the desserts, my favorite was the eclair. It was perfectly crispy and filled with a delicious, lightly sweetened pastry crème. The Parisian flan was also pretty good, which was a much denser version of regular flan, with a puff pastry crust. The tart got soggy (I bought the pastries early in the afternoon and did not eat until later that night) which was totally disappointing. I also found the Mont Blanc to be pretty bland. I couldn't really taste anything. However, I really want to return to try more eclairs! The customer area of the shop is quite small but the staff handles the crowd well. My partner got a croissant in the moment and really enjoyed it. Hot tip: ask them to heat it up for you. read more

New French bakery in the Clairidge building. I have been dying to try this so I stopped in one pre-Christmas afternoon to pick up some baked goods and macaroons to share with co-workers. The bakery is bright with all the baked goods displayed perfectly. Seating is outside the bakery (though inside) in the open area near the entrance to the Clairidge. First off, the house drip coffee was a really good coffee. Highly recommend. I tried the chocolate mousse cake, the fruit cake, and macaroon sampler. The cakes were each $7 and the macaroon sampler of 4 was $12 so this is not cheap. The macaroons were DELICIOUS- soft and flavorful. Perfect macaroon. The cakes were BEAUTIFUL and had good flavor but the chocolate one especially was a bit too rich for me personally... good, not great for me personally. Wish I had tried the eclair as that looked amazing. All in all - a great addition to Church Street. read more

We lucked out and got here just in time the other night. 2 minutes before closing and we were not rushed at all and even asked if we wanted our pumpkin cheesecake slice to honor to dine in. This bakery is sooo cute and affordable. We ordered the chocolate chocolate chip cookie, pecan cookie, and the pumpkin cheesecake slice. We are the cookies in the car on the way home. They were only $3 and definitely worth it. There was weight to them and size and they were quite yummy. I only had a bite of the cheesecake when we got home and it was very good. A few weeks ago we stopped by again and I got to try the Paris Montclair which is my new favorite and the lemon pound cake, which my boyfriend and I gobbled up in a couple days together.
