The neighborhood in the past has suffered from a dearth of coffee and snack shops aside from the typical bodega. Once Jessi's came along, the daily lines almost spilling into the street is indicative of their instant success. Unfortunately, others have caught on to this and a few other coffee shops have recently or are in the process of opening up nearby. I just hope that they can keep up with the competition. read more

I went because it was 6:15am and couldn't find anything else open. They don't take credit cards so I had to go to an ATM for cash. Burrito was $4 and although mostly potato, it was very decent. Coffee was a little meh. The people were very friendly and the place seemed very clean. Prices were good ($15 for 2 burritos and 2 vanilla lattes) but the coffee part seems like it is missing something. read more

This is my favorite place next to Cafe Nijasol in this area. They have great breakfast burritos, and donuts.Be wary, the lines can be out the door and the service is quite slow (an average of 15-20 when you order) but its like Trader Joes -- its worth it because of the cheap prices! I love this place. It's terrific. Cheap as hell, and much better than a few other cafes in the vicinity that charge twice as much. I can get a double espresso and a bacon, egg, and cheese in five minutes for $5. That sounds like a Burger King commercial, but it's true. The quality of the food is what makes this place a bargain. The bacon is actually pretty thick, and their bagels have just the right amount of crisp to them. You can also get fresh fruit smoothies and juices, which are thick and, well, juicy. If this place had the sit-down space that Cafe Nijasol has, they'd make a killing. They could even charge a bit more, and I'd still be happy. I ordered a toasted butterd bagel and tea for breakfast. When I got to my office to eat the bagel it looked liked someone had picked all the bread out of the bagel. I called the shop and informed them of the situation. They first told me they would get someone to come and bring me a new bagel, but then they called back to say they had no one to bring the bagel. I returned the bagel and they confirmed they gave me the wrong bagel. I requested my money back nicely and left. A few weeks later I returned to order the same thing and was told by the owner I can no longer order food at her shop because I returned the bagel a few weeks before. This is dscriminatory and digusting way to do business. I guess after the Trayvon Martin murder African Americans are a mark for such practices as these. Good Riddens Crappy Shop!!!! read more

I love this place so much! The staff is always nice and I love, love, love their Iced coffee. Its one of the few places where I can enjoy it black and a large (Really large, not "large") is only $2.00. You seriously cannot beat that considering Boulevard and cup are completely over priced. They also have extremely cheap food and fresh juices made to order. I have lived in Bushwick for two years and have come to Jessie's every day since I moved here. This place was the first cafe in the neighborhood, and they still do some things the best. I find myself there all the time. This cute, family-owned business is a the perfect quick stop in the morning. It still makes the best neighborhood iced coffee, smoothies, juices, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos, as well as the most delicious yogurt cups with fruit. Although the new bagel place across the street duplicates a lot of these items, these are best at Jessie's. Jessie's has been doing smoothies and juices the longest, for example, and have perfected their menu offerings. I also really recommend the Chipotle chicken wrap, if you haven't tried it yet. For espresso drinks, venture elsewhere to one of the neighborhoods other new offerings, but what Jessie's does they do the best. read more

Don't waste your money here. Poor quality food and it taste horrible. The service sucks! They have no people skills and don't communicate well with their customers. When you ask for something and if they don't have it, they are rude with their responses. There are other coffee shops in the area that are much better. I personally now go to Bread Brothers Bagel Café which is right across the street from Jessi's. You will see the difference in both how you're treated and the quality of food you're getting. Delicious smoothies and juices made to order, the Banana Nut smoothie is a personal preference. Great breakfast burritos and awesome tortas (gotta try the bistec or the al pastor torta) Jessie's is definitely no frills, but really what would one expect from a hole in the wall. Any seating that there is really just for waiting for your order, you get your order in a brown paper bag and off you go. The girls who work there are nice though and, like I said, the food is great. This is the perfect place for a quick and cheap hunger fix, particularly if you live in the area. read more
