    lobsters in crates

While staying in Rockland Maine, several people told us that Jess's Market was the best place to get live lobster. It was a great little shop with so much to offer...wine, beer, snacks, seasoning, and of course so much amazing and fresh seafood. The folks there were super helpful and pointed us towards some great suggestions. We found two great lobsters and took them back to our Airbnb. My husband stuffed them and they were fabulous. We love lobster and get it from time to time in Texas, but now we know what super-fresh off-the-boat lobster tastes like. In other words, we are ruined.

We rented an Airbnb in the area and found Jess's as a place to get lobster steamed so we could bring it back and eat at the house. We really liked the market. Lots of good wines and interesting products. Friendly staff. Loved watching the interactions with locals. If I lived nearby I'd be there all the time. We only had a chance to have lobsters, clams and oysters. Would have loved to try more, we just didn't have time.

Got two 1-1/4lbs lobsters, 2 different types of clams and mussels.

Friendly and helpful staff walked me through differences between soft and hard shell lobsters by seasons to help me pick the right one. We bought lobsters, clams and mussels. Followed the direction for steaming lobster and it was super tasty!

Jess's Market carries The Oyster, an award-winning, sustainably-grown Sauvignon Blanc that helps fund the restoration of our oyster reefs!

Jess's was recommended to me by a friend and I could not be more grateful! Not only did they have my favorite wine that I'd been searching for called The Oyster but the food is absolutely delicious! The service is great and all the employees are very knowledgable, which comes in handy because I don't always know what I'm looking to get haha. However, I must say that the lobsters never disappoint! I highly recommend this local gem!

Always the freshest fish off the docks on Rockland. Lobsters, scallops, and fresh tuna. Fast service and fair market prices.

Friendly. Low prices. Clean. Fresh seafood. Lots of extras to go with your meal. I'll be back when next in Camden, Maine.

To start with, this is the same Dry Dock restaurant I reviewed in 2023 - sort of! It is actually…read morethe same owners but in a larger space. We learned of it from locals and decided to give it a try. It was a bit rocky of a start, someone didn't really know that we were there, but when we asked we had service recovery that was off the charts. We had a very nice Chardonnay. and because of our initial wait we received the cajun shrimp appetizer that was absolutely incredible and served with homemade chipotle cocktail sauce - so good and perfect with the wine. I then followed that with an order of chicken wings that came with buffalo sauce and blue cheese, Wayne had the fettuccine Alfredo that was also excellent. Although no longer within the blues festival grounds, we will totally add it to next year's plan!

Unfortunately this place was average (or below average) for the cost…read more Came here to get lobster bisque due to a glowing review from another Yelper. I asked for it extra hot. Ordered the fried haddock sandwich too. Soup arrived with steam (before the spoons to eat it came) but the soup was actually not that hot when we tasted it. We had to wait for spoons. The bowl of lobster bisque was $34, which was a conscious decision for us to order - because that's expensive. (A cup is$20.) The lobster bisque had no flavor. The salt, pepper and lemon we added ourselves helped but for $34, it should be amazing. It cooled off super quickly and was room temperature within 3 minutes and in 8 minutes or so, cold. Which means it wasn't truly heated through and through to start. We regret ordering it. The fried haddock sandwich had zero flavor. None. Not salt, not pepper. The fries and Heinz ketchup had the most flavor of anything on our table. When the sandwich came we asked for another plate (we were sharing it), which never came. At one point, the waitress came over and asked how everything was. I replied, "Eh, alright." She said "Okay!" and walked away. Disappointing since, budget-wise, we are eating out one meal a day of this trip and that was the experience (and lack of flavor) we had. $66 including tip. Such a waste. Sorry to say....but skip this place.
