Hill's Seafood was a great find! We started with Aunt Lisa's Crabby Crab Dip, and it was absolutely delicious--the perfect appetizer to kick off the meal. I ordered the Almighty Fisherman's Platter with fried scallops, haddock, whole belly clams, and shrimp. Everything was fresh, hot, and cooked just right. The Neil's Bourbon Salmon was also excellent and definitely worth ordering. You can't beat sitting overlooking Rockland Harbor while you eat. It's got that laid-back, authentic Maine waterfront feel that so many people come here looking for. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and I honestly don't have a single complaint. Hill's Seafood was just across the way from where our cruise ship was docked. I headed over here for an early lunch with the intention to beat the crowds. I asked to be seated outside, but away from the sun and scored a table near the center. I realized belatedly that if I had grabbed one of the extra seat cushions from the bench seating, that I would have been more comfortable. Service was friendly enough and my meal brought out at reasonable pace, but my water was not refilled and I had to ask for a straw. Also my original assigned server declined to be assigned me since I was a party of one, which wasn't the most welcoming feeling. Their haddock Reuben $20 was a grilled cheese on steroids, and was quite good, and came with fries. They did have honey mustard and provided it at no additional charge. When a table near me forgot their credit card, their waitress quickly hopped the fence to return it to them. read more

We ate there on Tuesday June 9, 2026. My wife had the half lobster sauteed in butter at $65.00 and I had the fried lobster at $42.00. We shared the $14.00 bang bang shrimp. Olivia was our waitress and although they were slammed, she did a great job. We spent a week in the Boothbay region and this was the best seafood meal we had all week. I think this place is very good, by Rockland standards. It's probably some of the best food you'll find in town. I had the 3 Crabcake dinner with coleslaw and baked potato. Everything tasted just fine. My husband had the fish and chips and he said they were good too. The patio was full so we ate inside. Service was good and friendly. read more

Was really excited for the menu as it's mostly seafood. However I just can't give it more than 2 stars. Was a little slow to get us seated (not busy), which was okay. It kind of went downhill from there. Food resembled pre-frozen fare with lots of salt. Way too much salt...on everything. Never offered to refill iced tea, forgot my salad and got a little angry at my husband when he asked for a cadillac margarita. Said they didn't make specialty drinks even though they have a full bar. Anyway, hope you have better luck if you still decide to give it a try. read more

My husband and I stopped here at 6 o'clock at night to eat dinner, of course it was very busy, but we were lucky enough to sit at the bar. "DD" their bartender did such an amazing job attending to us and helping out the waitresses as they were busy. The clam chowder was awesome! Food here was good. I ordered my first lobster roll. It was good, bread was cold. I hear they are all different so I can't say if it is the best. Fish and chips are really good. You can find Hill's Seafood at 266 Main St, Rockland, ME 04841. This is towards the southern end of Main St near the intersection where the streets change from one-way to two-way. There's parking along the sides of the restaurant and along the streets, also lots nearby (a block or so). We had gotten restaurant recommendations from a local friend and for some reason this wasn't one of them. We were looking for fried, non-lobster items (having sampled the local lobster - which is fantastic - we had gotten tired of eating it and wanted something more basic). The Hill's menu looked terrific online so we headed here. Parking was super easy (it's slightly past tourist season so busy but not impossible to get into the local places) - we ended up parking right by the main entrance. We were seated on the deck with no wait and a server came by immediately for drink orders. I had the excellent Main Brewing Co's "Lunch" IPA 7% ABV - 4.2/5 Great citrus notes, mild slightly sweet light bodied backbone, finishes with a touch of floral pine. My wife had The Shed Brewery's "Mountain Ale" brown ale 7.4% - 3.2/5 Fairly dry, similar to a brown but far less malty sweetness. Roasty body, fairly easy drinking for the ABV. We each tried a soup/stew: * New England Clam Chowder - this was super creamy with big chunks of clams and potato - good but a touch heavy on the cream for me * Lobster Stew - this was delicious with big chunks of tail and claw meat with butter floating to the top (not sure if it was breaking or whether it's designed to be like this) - thinner than a typical chowder. For dinner: * Haddock Dinner (covered in melted cheese) with a side of sauteed broccoli and baked potato * Sea Scallops Dinner with sauteed broccoli and baked potato Both of the entrees were good - I think the scallops stole the show. The cheese on the fish was a bit much - I liked it and it tasted good but I should have gone with it bare. The fish was cooked perfectly with moist innards and was very fresh (as you would expect). We finished up with the key lime pie - not bad but not the worst I've had (of course my standards are very high, as when I worked at Indigo we had one of the best I've ever had). Service was exceptional with friendly knowledgeable and attentive staff. In all a great experience - really something like a 4.3/5. read more

I live in Florida and we traveled to Maine for the leaves and lobster. We stopped at Hills just about 20 minutes before they closed for the day and a day before they closed for the season. We decided to share the big seafood platter. It's fried and I normally don't like fried because it's never done properly. Not here. The batter is thin and not over powering and the fish and scallops were perfection. I got the mug of lobster stew. Now I do cook and create a lot of dishes. I am guessing it's a New England thing that the stew was not inspiring. It needed some herbs, salt, pepper, maybe a dash of Louisiana hot sauce and maybe some carrots. But hey that's just me. Lots of lobster but the mug was $31!! We went on our way after lunch and enjoyed our full tummies rest of the day. read more

A home grown feel to this restaurant with red checkered table cloths and friendly very young family servers. We got in without a wait for happy hour and dinner. Drinks are a great value, and we ordered a seasonal ale from Shipyard, and a Trip to the Islands tropical drink. The cocktail was fairly light, with a little coconut and pineapple. Started with a crab dip appetizer , served with colorful tortilla chips. Well it was a very rich pile of oily cheese, far more than we could eat, and not truly that tasty. Both husband and I ordered the broiled scallops, he ordered a baked potato and garlic bread and I ordered veggies and a Caesar side salad, a $2 up charge. The broiled scallops are a generous portion, virtually unseasoned in their natural juices and butter. The broccoli was cooked properly, tender but not mushy and still bright green. The baked potato was a nice baked potato, and the garlic toast was lovely. The Caesar side salad was horrible, wilted and soggy. We didn't complain, just didn't finish it. My second drink was a huge improvement over the first. Warned it much be strong, imtge Wicked Pissah Punch was just exactly my kind of rum punch. In fact I made it my dessert. I also had leftover scallops for lunch the next day and they were still fresh and fabulous. So, dinner at Hills was a real mixed bag. Stick to the seafood and simple sides you'll love it. read more

Hill's has a great location with a pristine view of Rockland Harbor. They have a lobster stew that is absolutely LOADED with lobster meat, very yummy. The service can admittedly be a bit iffy, we have waited a while for food before. But the outdoor covered deck has a great view, they serve ice cold beer and mixed drinks and the food is routinely solid. Hill's is o.k. But there are many better places to go for seafood in Rockland. It is convenient, open on days that other places aren't for lunch. My go-to Fish is always haddock. I ordered it broiled with an extra up charge of three dollars for a crumb topping that seemed as though it ought to be free. It was just OK nothing special my friend's broiled scallops Were a bit overcooked and once again just OK. It was nice to have a choice of a baked potato over the ubiquitous fries that usually come with seafood, but they had an odd taste as though they had been pre-cooked several days prior, but who knows. Overall, it was a pleasant lunch out on the deck, despite the traffic and despite the grease smell inside that you have to walk through in order to get to the outdoor seating. read more
