Have you ever been so pleasantly shocked but you just don't know what to do? That's what happened tonight. We had intended to eat at a different restaurant, however, said restaurant was full, and this was a back up. When we called they said we're empty so we said fine we are on our way. We arrived and the interior was interesting, not bad just interesting and we thought OK we'll just get a quick meal nothing right home about. It'll be fine. However. Fine is not enough to describe it. Don't walk, RUN to order the broiled haddock plaki. What an AMAZING surprise. Flavorful haddock with feta tomato and lemon on top, perfectly sautéed zucchini and yellow squash, and a rice and tomato combo that was absolutely shovel in mouth inducing. Other dishes that were described as out of this world included the atuffed haddock, fried clams, chicken tenders, and don't get me started on the FRITES!! Top notch food. The ahí tuna was cooked perfectly, good sear on the exterior, medium rare interior. Tender and full of flavor. The Greek gryo had a wonderful tzatziki sauce, fresh veggies, juicy chicken with a great sear. The haddock fish had a light, airy, and crispy batter. It was tender, and had a great flavor when paired with the tartar sauce. The kid's Mac and cheese was also fantastic. Most restaurants sell you kraft Mac and cheese, not here. The Mac and cheese was made with cork-screw pasta, a thick, creamy, cheese sauce, topped with a crust of additional cheese and bread crumbs. The food also had very nice plating considering the price point. Each meal was presented in a way that showed thought, and craftsmanship. Excellent service! Theresa was great! We changed tables because the window was open& we were chilly and she was super nice and told us to pick any table we liked as it's important to be comfortable. The drinks were good (should add price to menu). The calamari was amazing and cooked perfectly. The sweet chili aïoli sauce that came with the scallops goes better with the calamari than the marina. The bacon wrapped scallops were delicious and should be part of the permanent menu (if they aren't). There seem to be a lot of locals there, which is always a nice thing to see (& a good sign). Nice ambience and service. Food, portions, and prices are excellent. Where can you get a Sam Adams Winter Lager on-tap for $5, or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for $7? The High Tide during Happy Hour, even on Friday night. Ahi tuna, haddock chowder, steak quesadillas, and fish tacos were all generously portioned. I've never had more disgusting lobster stew... EVER. I'm a Maine native, sooooo... It tasted like someone dumped a bottle of sherry in and didn't let it cook off at all. The stuffed haddock was also awful. I got crab shell in my first bite of the stuffing. The taste was off too. I won't even mention the awful service, because it was lobster fest that day. My bad, I would have planned for a different day. But that's NO EXCUSE for literal trash seafood on the coast of Maine. I drove all the way from Kennebec county for some good stuffed haddock. Sitting outside at High Tide could not have been lovelier. Perfect late summer evening with view of the harbor and many sailboats. The menu was extensive and I appreciated that a salad could be added to the sandwiches for $5. And a lovely salad it was. The haddock taco special was very good and we saw other tables where some people couldn't finish. The 3 tacos were substantial. My lobster roll was a disappointment. Very small on a toasted hot dog roll. Not the freshest either. I so wanted to give 5 stars. I will add the salad I subbed for fries was lovely, fresh and delicious. The chef and our waiter could not have been nicer. Our waiter was a dream. Whatever I wanted, the answer was of course. Probably the most polite young man ever. Located in the old Time Out Pub, they have some really good work cleaning up the inside and outside. They have a large bar and tables inside. Martinis are dangerously delicious! I've been here twice and sat at the bar. Service was amazing and bartenders were excellent and very knowledgeable and friendly. The food tasted super fresh, temperature of everything was spot on, and tasted amazing. The ahi tuna is my favorite! We have been here several times and service has always been lacking but food has always been decent but last night was the absolute worst. From the moment we sat down the woman bartending had a horrible attitude and was complaining to customers how she was starving and the kitchen wouldn't make her any food. We ordered drinks and took menus as we were planning on eating which we told her. Well instead of telling us the kitchen was closing early for some undisclosed reason she came over and grabbed our menus and said Kitchen is closed and was laughing at us being annoyed . Sunday nights in Rockland are challenging enough with most restaurants closed so we never got dinner and will definitely not be back here any time soon. read more

Considering there was 2 huge conferences in town, I thought it would be very busy, but only a handful present. We came here with high expectations and two families. The hostess sat us right away and from there it was downhill. Our waitress was very nice but clearly understaffed and cost cutting with portions. The kids menu was subpar and left us ordering adults meals for all our children. The food took over an hour to come to the table, drinks weren't refilled and a pitcher of water came without any cups. The final straw was the lobster rolls were ridiculously small, so much so that the waitress apologized. When we inquired about it she went to tell the chef/manager and instead of a representative coming to talk to the table, we were simply offered a piece of cake. The bill came and the 3" lobster rolls were $34 dollars each. This is unacceptable when you can go to a restaurant in the same parking lot, spend less and get a better tasting roll that is twice the portion. It is unfortunate as the waitress was very kind but clearly the management is not doing their job. On the upside, the beer was cold. We will not be back. read more

The food was a 10 out of 10. You can see part of the kitchen from the bar and it looked really clean. The bathroom was the cleanest one I had seen in Rockland for the past couple of months I have been here. The only problem was the paper towel dispenser looked broken with the blue tape on top of it. I had a peach apple cider drink that was surprisingly really good. Neither the peach or cider over powered the other so I give my props to the bartender for that. The atmosphere was quite but I also arrived a hour after it first opened and there was only about 10 customers inside at that time. I had the steak quesadilla/French onion soup/ and the house salad. I 100% recommend the French onion soup. The quesadilla had peppers and onions which was new to me but still very good. I would recommend having a salsa instead of pico as a side so you have something to dip it in to cool it. read more

I just brought a group of 20 people to High Tide Restaurant for a special group dinner. Andreas made the most delicious, authentic Greek dinner for us, we were all blown away! We enjoyed his Moussaka, Spanakopita, Greek salad, and Baklava. Each dish was perfect, the service was wonderful, and we felt as if we were guests in Andreas' own home. I would highly recommend High Tide for any group gathering. They go out of their way to make everything special.
