They do now take reservations so the wait isn't so long. Service was good and it's always fun to be here with the planes just outside the window. There is no sign for the restaurant so just look for the General aviation sign on the building. My French toast was mediocre at best. Boring white bread with no taste and an equally bland syrup that came with it.The only good part of the meal was some great bacon! My friend had an omelet with hash browns which she liked but it came with a biscuit on a separate plate that looked as bad as it tasted. Sort of like a pile of mashed potatoes with a gummy interior.. There are lots of good looking things on the menu so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing this time but I was not impressed. Most any truck stop has far better French toast than what I got here and usually served with several flavors of syrup. Lots of other people love the food here so I guess I got the wrong day. If you like airplanes and food...this is your place. I stopped in for breakfast on a cold and icy December day. There wasn't much airplane activity, but several planes were moving around. The wall of windows provide ample viewing of any ground activity at Wisconsin Aviation. Now the food. I ordered the 2+2+2 which was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 pieces of sausage. The pancakes were huge and consumed the plate. The eggs and sausage came on another plate. The food was very good. My ticket was $12.24 before tip. read more

Solid choice. The reputation is deserved. Went on a weekday at 11:15 when our first choice was closed. I went with a straightforward French toast and bacon, no complaints, nothing remarkable and probably slightly overpriced in the grand scheme. Dining companion had the salmon bowl on the advise of the wait staff. Should have gone that direction--it was delicious. Hashbrown, salmon, fried egg. Didn't even get the toast side and it was still two meals worth. Service was good, food was likely cooked fresh to order so there is a little bit of a wait, but not unreasonable. Benny and the Jets came on the radio and I knew I had to get on this review. Hidden gem, try the Holy Grail. Clever categories and I got a classic Bennie's at the Jet. Poached eggs and hash browns aren't rocket science, ha ha. Apparently they are here. The shredded hash browns are brown throughout, not white, not burned. Eggs not over done and they expect you to pay for it. Everything is perfection. A bite into the ham was a wtf moment. Turns out they shave it off a whole ham. I had a bite of the sausage skillet. The aero omelet looked great, I may try one next time cause I want a biscuit. This put me in a good mood for my drive home to the TC immediately. And I was reeling from a lousy dinner the night before. I had a window seat yet still got to see the chef do his magic. Grace was my amazing, friendly server. I tipped $10 on a $14 bill. I felt bad for the employees of the Jet Room itself who were all masked but the customers of the Jet Room and the Airport as well as the Wisconsin aviation employees were not masked. The Jef Room seems to be losing its edge. Food was great. I loved the hash browns, which were nice and crispy, and I ask for poached eggs with runny yolks, and that's exactly how they came. It took too long for a server to come to the table after I was seated. The server was went through their script like an automated attendent. Siri has more personality. And I don't go to a sit down restaurant to be squeezing all of the condiments out of tiny little packages, including pepper, tarter sauce (for the perch), and Cholula, and ketchup, which came in a very tiny little plastic covered tub a little bigger than a thimble. If nothing else, come here for the experience! It's so cool to eat and sit alongside the small airport. We were staying just outside of downtown Madison since a lot of hotels were booked for CrossFit games but it worked out because Yelp led me to the Jet Room. It wasn't hard to get here but it took some time to find the entrance. Just enter the "Wisconsin Aviation" building and it'll be on your left. Long story short, it's like a diner that got placed right next to the plane parking. They have bar stool seating by the kitchen and tables by the windows for families/groups. Certainly roomy enough! They have everything you can think of for brunch; we ended up getting a veggie skillet and potato pancakes. Their portions are big; we had leftovers between the two of us! All in all, a great deal and a cool experience. The day we went, it was quite cloudy and ready to rain so wasn't great for a small aircraft but hopefully your experience will involve a small craft taking off or landing :D read more

Greetings from Illinois!! We came up for a week to visit friends and he the Dells. On our way back through we stopped in for brunch. Unfortunately, the smell was not good! Apparently the water treatment plant does something fence and a while that causes a sewer smell inside the airport area. The restaurant kept their doors closed so the smell wasn't really there while eating but it was still a bit off putting. The food was pretty good for a breakfast joint. My hubby really liked the blueberry French toast and their pancakes were on point being light and fluffy with a crispy edge. Otherwise I thought the menus really didn't have anything particularly original about it. I'm ok with that as long as my food is yummy! The reason I gave 3 stars reflects on the waitress Trisha that served us. Her demeanor was very lackluster with no smiles. I felt like she sort threw our drinks and food at us. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what but if this is typical for her, I wouldn't Keep her around. She didn't come back and check on us between having our coffee poured and our food coming out and we sat there waiting for coffee. When she dropped off our check she was like "here's your check" while we were finishing up our food. When it came time to pay, we just assumed then that we went up front (she could have said thanks and when you are ready, you can pay up front). I placed a catering order for 8 passengers and 3 flight crew members with Jet Room 10/15/19. Everything was so beautifully presented, well labeled and each item was delicious ! The Owners of our aircraft were extremely pleased with the lunch Jet Room provided us. Highlights were the tuna salad, kids chicken strips plates, fruit platters, crudités plates, chef salad and chicken noodle soup. The tuna salad was my personal favorite! Megan, one of the owners, was so gracious to meet with me beforehand for a sit down to chat about my catering needs and really took the time to understand exactly what we needed as far as packaging and the meal service. I have placed an order before with Air Culinaire out of Madison, on Easter Day and they never showed up. They left me standing on the ramp with no food. It was awful. I will only call Jet Room from now on. read more

Stopped in with a friend for breakfast. We were first timers, so it was a bit confusing getting to the restaurant. We sat at the counter and got to watch the cooks at work, while staring at the huge plates of food in the warming area, salivating. I ordered the chili cheese omelette with hash and a biscuit. OM NOM NOM!!! I would've loved a little bit more chili, but I'm certainly not complaining about anything else. The portions were very generous for the prices, and everything was absolutely delicious. Although we were facing away from the runway, the view was still pretty amazing. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive, without being overly attentive and annoying. Don't get me wrong. The food here is the perfect greasy spoon. And the views are great and the setting is so unique. But the system for seating guests is abysmal and has no logic whatsoever. We were told the wait would be 15-55 minutes, which feels like a pretty arbitrary range. Then, after 15 minutes of waiting no one had been seated and there were open seats both at the counter and an open 4-top. The management is rude to guests and seems completely put out by having to do their job. You're in a service industry, suck it up. read more

I'm not from Wisconsin but my partner is and her family lives near Madison. We stopped by here for lunch on the way home from the airport. This is definitely a spot that, to me, is more about the ambiance / experience than the food. The atmosphere is a unique one, located literally on the tarmac of a small airport with a view of planes and the tarmac while you're eating. The restaurant is nestled in a corner of the lobby / information center of the airport. You could read some literature about the history and significance of the airport while you wait. We came around 11 AM and there was a bit of a miscommunication between the time we were told and how long we actually waited. It almost seemed as though they forgot about us, which is easy to believe since the waiting area is basically the lobby and out of the direct line of sight of the host's stand. I think we sat around for about 45 minutes before our table was available, which was kind of surprising since we were on the earlier side of the lunch crowd and on the later side of the breakfast crowd. The food is your typical diner food. We had salads and sandwiches, all of which were average but not bad. For the price, it's kind of what I expected and I'd probably go again if I'm looking for typical diner food and there isn't a long wait. The staff were okay, the host was a little abrasive about how long it took to seat us versus what we were initially told, but the server was nice enough, although he did seemed a little overwhelmed for how busy it was. It's at least worth a visit if you're in the area for the experience. read more

Having moved to Madison just this past year, we have been crossing the local foodie staples off our list one by one. We have been wanting to check out the eggs benedict at the Jet Room for awhile now, and it did not disappoint!! We ordered the crab cake benedict - unbeknownst to us, this is their most popular menu item - and the apple fritter French toast. The benedict was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the Hollandaise sauce was superb - not too rich, not too tangy. The crab cake was meaty and its flavor lended well to the dish. I only missed the traditional ham a teeny bit. The English Muffin was tender and I appreciated its larger-than-average size. I would have loved for the open face of the muffin to have been toasted on the grill. This would have added a needed crunch that would've put the dish over the edge, but I'm being very nitpicky. It was one of the best benedicts I've ever had, and I will DEFINITELY be back to try the classic eggs benedict very soon. The apple fritter French toast was moist and tender, cooked perfectly, with big chunks of juicy apple inside. A little butter, a splash of syrup, and one shake of salt and I was in heaven! Our side of hashbrowns was nice and hot, with a decent mix of crispy pieces. Typical hashbrowns, cooked well, served hot, and not at all greasy. They paired well with the egg yolk and Hollandaise sauce leftover on our plate. Our server, Krista, was genuinely sweet, and she complimented my choice of benedict. Her service was simply lovely. The best part was when she offered us tobasco sauce, siracha, and cholula. We went with siracha today, and it was the perfect addition to the benedict. The ambiance (cute, clean, and modern diner) and the view (planes taking off on the runway) are hard to beat. However, I will agree with some other reviewers that the building that houses the restaurant smells of sewage, although the restaurant itself does not. Seating assigments have been discussed by others, and while we did ask for a low table with a runway view, we were told we would be offered the next available table, and we could decide to wait longer if it was not to our liking. When our name was called after about 15 mintues, we were offered the counter or a high top table. We were not offered a low table, even with an additional wait. It seemed awkward to ask for permission to wait longer for the table we wanted, so we ended up sitting at the counter. This was fine, but next time I will DEFINITELY be asking to wait for a low top with the view. In addition, there is complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby of the building, which I thoroughly enjoyed sipping while we watched the planes taxi and waited for a table. Before we were seated, the host instructed me to set my unfinished coffee down on a nearby table. I understand that it's not the restaurant's product, but this interaction seemed uncomfortable, like I was breaking some sort of rule by bringing my coffee with me instead of dumping out the few remaining sips. I think I would have preferred if he simply would've said something along the lines of, "Might I offer you a really good cup of coffee?" as he was seating us. Overall, this was a delicious and enjoyable breakfast. Definitely one of the best brunches we've had in Madison so far. We will be back very soon! read more

We wished we could have seen some take offs and landings at the airport but we didn't see any. The runways are farther from the restaurant than I thought it would be.
