Best kept secret in Madison. My grandma used to take me here when I was a kid, and it still brings up great feelings as an adult- very nostalgic. My husband is really into planes, and I took him here as a surprise. Needless to say he loved it! He sat and watched the planes fly in like a kid. The food is delicious as well! Pretty big let down on many fronts today. This has been one of our favorite spots to take the kids as a special treat. The food isn't anything special but the combination of getting to see the planes and a friendly staff always made it fun. The planes are still there but our waiter Jason seemed as though he'd rather be anywhere but there. After a 45min wait to be seated, we were given coloring kids menus but no crayons. When we asked if they had any crayons we were told "no". Nothing else, as if it were an odd request. When asked for our drinks, we asked if the kids meals included a drink, again a simple matter of fact "no". Kids tried to make small banter with the waiter and he continued to just act annoyed that we were there to begin with. My wife and I ordered the $15 steak and eggs (steak medium rare). When our plates were brought out, we were each given (2) small steak nuggets cooked well done. Outside of a friendly staff member doing coffee refills who spent 2min of just being friendly to both us and our kids, we were really let down. This place is dope! It's inside of an aviation building, and has these floor to ceiling window views of the planes at the airport. We got cheese curds for the table to start off with and they were delicious- so much cheese and the batter was very light and not oily. The crab cake Benedict was also delicious. The crab was not overpowering and there was the perfect amount of Hollandaise sauce. I was told to go around 9am to see the fighter jets from the Air Force take off. Wow! Where else can you get a breakfast with a view like small engine planes coming in and taking off? The menu is nothing short of a delicious surprised. I'm not sure if this was proper but I helped myself to coffee and cookies in the lounge waiting area as we waited for a window seat. The service was okay, could have been more attentive but still friendly enough. I ordered the crab cake Benedict's and eee disappointed that it was imitation crab. I guess what did I expect for $9? Too good to be true. However, the eggs were fluffy, cooked to perfection. It came with the option of hashbrowns or fruit. The sausage scrabble was very well received by both parties that ordered it. Generous beef of hashbrowns were topped with diced mixes of sausage, green peppers, onions, and fluffy eggs. Served with a side of toast. The special omelette of the day was a chili, also very well received with choice of hash browns or fruit. The total bill with tip was about $50. One of our weekend favorites. The food is always consistently good. A good array of items on the menu ranging from traditional favorites like like skillets, to the Wild Alaskan Salmon Benedict. We like sitting at the counter. There's often less of a wait for your seat, and by sitting there, you can see all of your food being prepared. I'm a little partial to the breakfast burrito and my wife really likes the veggie skillet. I just wish this place was a little bigger. The wait can be a little long, but one of the really neat things about this place is the view as you wait and as you eat. I'm a big fan of eating Midwest brunches and I can tell quality vs. quantity. My boyfriend took me here on a surprise date because he is a big fan of watching planes take off, so I thought it was novel to have brunch there. The quality of the food blew me away as well as the friendly service. We ordered crab cakes benedict with hollandaise sauce and the 2x2x2 (pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, and fruit cup OR hashbrowns). The other reviewers down below are correct that their pancakes are TDF light airy and buttery delicious. The crab cakes benedicts were perfect - not too rich, and not too heavy and very nicely presented. The waitress was a middle aged woman who was very attentive to us. The price is also very reasonable for brunches in Madison. I would highly recommend this place, and I believe it is one of Madison's best kept secret diners. It wasn't as cheap as the Come Back Inn located near the Essen Haus nor Plaka's Mediterranean meat intensive style brunches, however, the quality was far superior (and don't get me wrong, I adore the Come Back Inn!) This place is great. A lot of people don't know it exists, or think it's just for pilots. The Jet Room is a diner with a great view the Wisconsin Aviation Airport runway. The food was decent, but I don't think anyone comes here for the food. It's all about the view. I had the sausage scrambler which was pretty standard. Nothing to brag about, but it did the trick. My gf had the salmon benedict. It looked great and she was pretty happy with it. It's a busy place on the weekend but you'll be entertained while waiting for your table. Plenty to look at. read more

B.E.S.T. brunch in Madison. Brunch at airport - "huh" right? Right. The restaurant is located with in the Wisconsin Aviation building, which is across the field from where the commercial flights are housed. You can eat the fantastic food while plane watch for your pleasure. If you haven't been here already, you're missing out - A. Lot. The airy pancakes that I ordered were fluffy, and really the best I've had in Madison. It sounds like a "guilty pleasure," but the pancakes are truly airy that it doesn't feel heavy on the stomach after clearing the plate. The three eggs omelet was equally spectacular. Plus the solid cordial service seals the 5-stars deal. The scene is a clean diner, but as my friend put it, "it's an actual diner with good food, and not like the other wanna-bes." Absolutely correct. And there's no need to do too much flare on the decor when they got the fantastic view of the private planes against the blue sky. I will be back for more for sure! We were traveling up north from Madison on a recent weekday and wanted to grab breakfast first so we found this place on Yelp and were so glad we did! We were greeted with a smile by the owner Pat O'Malley himself who engaged our son (2) with a smile and a 'well hello there!' and handed him a little toy airplane - a good start! We were led to a 4 top right in front of the full length windows which face the tarmac. A huge hit with the little guy! Private planes taking off and landing the whole time while we waited for food and ate make for a relatively stress-free meal with a toddler! He was entranced with all the coming and going and we really enjoyed it as well. The food: Sean tried the apple fritter french toast which was clearly made from scratch and delicious. I even liked it and I don't normally go for sweeter breakfast items - this was just right - not too rich. Coffee was above-average quality for a diner. I opted for the special perch breakfast plate combo (from scratch potato pancake, two eggs, pan fried perch filet, toast). This proved an excellent breakfast which I highly recommend! The potato pancake was delicious and not too greasy, perch was delicate and also very good. I also ordered a side of bacon which was good quality if a bit expensive. Kids menu: Several breakfast options on the 'Lil Copilot Flight Plan' kids menu. Reid loves pancakes but there was only a Mickey Mouse pancake option which came with nothing else. We opted to go with the 1x1x1 (pancake, bacon/sausage, egg) off the regular menu which ended up being quite a bit cheaper than getting two of the kids options (one pancake and one kid combo plate). Overall though the kids menu is very adequate and all options below $5. Scenery: 5 stars (7 stars from toddler perspective :) Food: 4-5 stars. Service 4 stars - quick and efficient, coffee cups never empty Price: 3 stars - $40 is a bit of a stretch for breakfast for two adults and a toddler, but for a special treat it is ok. Over 4 dollars for a side of bacon is a bit much as well. Overall, very satisfied and we'll be back if we have the opportunity. Check it out for a special day with the kids or otherwise! read more

This place is the comfort breakfast food that I've been craving since I moved here. The steak and poached egg on a biscuit was beyond my expectation. And to sit next to a view of the planes coming and going from the landing strip is a great experience to take kids. This is definitely going to be a weekend tradition going here for breakfast. I took family from Hawaii here for breakfast this morning. I have been here 3 times over the past 2 years and was always happy with my meal. Today was a different story. I dont know if the restaraunt is under new management or what has changed, but it was very disappointing. Our portions were not at all worth what we paid, and my sons kid meal french toast sticks was over $4 for ONE piece of french toast. That's it!! There was no egg, meat, or any side, just a piece of bread. When the check came I asked the waiter if his milk was included in his meal and he said drinks are charged separately. So I paid just under $8 for my son to eat 1 piece of french toast and drink a glass of milk. The adult meals were nothing special, and nobody was impressed or even finished their food. It was disappointing for my guests because they were on their way to the airport and wanted a good meal before their flight. I don't plan on returning. read more

After reading an article online I was directed to the Jet Room's $100 burger promo. Included is a 30 minute plane ride, an appointment you make with Wisconsin Aviation afterward, which is connected to the Jet Room. Did so and made this appointment one week in advance at 9:00AM. Showed up early and they had not made the appointment for 9:00 but for 5:00. Huge letdown. This promo is seemingly an annoyance to Wisconsin Aviation, proof positive they just put down a time that worked for them and never told me about a change. I got my money back but stay away, this promo should be discontinued, Wisconsin Aviation clearly is not interested in honoring these appointments. read more

The food here is good but the place could use a face lift. Standard "greasy spoon" fare with an upscale twist. But they are only open for breakfast and lunch which is a shame. Their view is spectacular and would be even better at night. The tables and decor are dated. I think they are going for shabby-chic but it's more shabby-run down. If they cleaned and updated it. Then stayed open with some nice dinner options I would easily go to 4/5 stars! read more

Another place that's been on my list for years, and I'm glad we finally made it! The wait was about 45 minutes when we got there at 12:15 pm on a Saturday, but I knew ahead of time that there'd be a wait, and the waiting area inside Wisconsin Aviation is spacious, so that was a non-issue. The food was delicious -- I don't know what it was, but these were the best hash browns I have ever had. Extra butter? Fresh, not frozen? I'm not sure, but I was surprised by how much my wife and I enjoyed "just" hash browns. I got the crab cake benedict, which was also quite good, with the most perfectly cooked poached egg I have ever cut into. And the fruit side! Fruits you don't normally get in fruit cups, like raspberries, and freshly cut oranges, rather than ones obviously prepackaged. If I had to criticize anything, it'd be that said fruit cup is not worth $5 as a standalone side -- very expensive for what is otherwise a reasonably priced establishment. On that note, prices on their online menu are outdated, and some items differ between the online menu and the one you are provided in restaurant, so just be prepared for that discrepancy (roughly 25% depending on the item) and don't get your heart set on potato pancakes, for example. :-) read more

Ruined Mother's Day breakfast. We've been coming here for 3 years. It's always been our favorite breakfast spot. Mother's Day 2021 was different. Before choosing this spot for Mother's Day breakfast, I went to their website to see if I could make a reservation. Very clearly on the landing page is says that due to COVID, there are capacity limits and NO RESERVATIONS. When I showed up, they told me it was reservation only, but they had a high-top table we could take. I was grateful but also confused. I went to the waiting area and looked at the website to see how I could miss something like this. When I saw the same line "NO RESERVATIONS", I went back to talk to the gentleman and show him what I was looking at. That's when he started pouring on the attitude and told me we didn't have to stay to eat. We ended up staying because we had a toddler in tow, but the entire meal he was giving me dirty looks. To top it off, while I was away entertaining the kid, my wife was settling the bill and told me the same guy didn't bother to say thank you and was a complete jerk to her. He ruined our Mother's Day breakfast and sadly, after three years of patronage, we won't be back. read more

First time in Madison, just visiting. Family decided we wanted brunch. Pull up the Apple Maps and type in looking breakfast and this place pops up, with all your other 'chain' places. So we picked it for something different. Oh boy were we pleased. Except for the wait to get a table, because it is a smaller establishment, it was amazing. The waiter we had, Anthony, was timely and lively, made us feel welcome instantly, continually 'ducking' over to make sure we were ok without asking or interrupting. The food was delicious, and plentiful. Pleased the whole crowd, from a very picky 8 year old to the 60+ crowd. Will always recommend this place. Period. read more

I have only visited for breakfast, so the five stars are just for those visits. Fresh...sometimes it is an overused word. Freshly cooked...never frozen...fresh off the farm...etc. When I use fresh, I am referring to "just cooked". I am thinking "not reheated" in a microwave or under a heating lamp or cooked several hours ago. The Jetroom breakfast is fresh. Partially because of their volume, you can see each element of your meal, whether it be the bacon, the eggs, the pancakes, the hash browns, cooked right there in front of you. And you can taste that difference. Now I have had the eggs cooked several ways and all worked well. A friend who prides herself on trying every Eggs Benedict in the area claims their sauce and eggs are among the best. The bacon is cooked as I requested each time. The pancake was yummy (official gourmet term). The coffee was hot and plentiful. So basically the food is great. I need to expand my menu next time I am there. The service is pretty darn good too! Coffee refreshes. The one downside...it is very busy for weekend breakfast, so be prepared to wait. But the waiting area is nice and has coffee. read more
