Travel agent aka Salesperson promised me everything would be exactly as I requested. Then handed it off to another person and then somebody else in Thailand. Tours didn't happen, lots went wrong. When my credit card company questioned them, they said it was due to weather. A complete lie. It was very upsetting from the beginning to the end.

Cutting to the chase, I would never use them again. Everything was fine with Ecuador and the Galapagos. However, the trip to Bolivia was a certified nightmare. The travel agent had us getting into the hotel after midnight and leaving for the excursion early the next morning. We only had two or three hours to sleep and we are all completely sleep deprived. It was insanity. The tour guide was more interested in stopping to eat then showing us the sites that we had traveled to see. At lunch, he casually said that the sites might be closed now. Then, at Easter Island they assign you a national Park guide who is obviously in a rush to show you the sites as quickly as possible, and take the rest of the day off. We let AUDLEY know and they did absolutely nothing. So yes, the sites were fine, but we constantly had to battle a poorly planned itinerary and lazy guides where we received no support from the travel agent. We are traveling again to Egypt in May and I will avoid AUDLEY at all costs. They are unstable, unresponsive, and sloppy.

At first everything seemed great and they were very helpful but once everything was paid for we were just a number. The day of travel our flight was delayed due to "maintenance issues " and Delta said they weren't able to contact us because our information wasn't provided by the agency needless to say it became a blaming game between the two. On the day of our return once again the flight was delayed and we were NOT notified. I once again give the agency the benefit of the doubt and it was the same situation all over again. They didn't follow up with us to make sure everything was fine and I am still waiting for a call back from the Agency to help me figure things out. Other than payment arrangements we had absolutely no benefit in booking with them. Save yourself some time. If you want things done right do them yourself.

Luckily, i found a round trip ticket for just under three weeks to Tokyo from SF for under a grand. Still, I wanted to backpack through Japan, visit at least 4-5 cities, and fit everything into a modest budget. After some research online (and Japanese tourism has awesome research available), I stumbled upon IACE travel. The staff is SO nice. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing, and the girl that helped me out Ritsuko, sat with me for about 40 mins going through various sample trips and agendas, despite the fact that I had not bought a single thing! She walked me through where to eat, where to stay, how long to be there....just awesome. I walked in needing a JR Rail Pass, and when I got down to it, she was so efficient and helpful in getting me one. And I walked out with it. Even after, I emailed her my ideas and she helped me plan my trip around them. After the trip, my 17 days visiting Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Sendai, Yokohama, Nara, and Mt. Fuji were amazing. And even though I could have gotten the JR pass somewhere else, I don't think I could have gotten better advice and trip planning help than here.

Who knew (well, perhaps baby Jesus knew?) that on Dec. 25th bored at my families gathering- I would click the link to find "round trip airfare to Tokyo Jan 3rd to Feb (something or other) $500*plus fuel!" This was cheaper than the $860-$1200 tickets I stalked all year round. The total came to $740 for a Jan. 17Th-Jan 27Th (Thurs- Sun) visit. I wish they had told me why! Are the destinations more expensive than my budget? Are the dates unavailable? I referenced "my partner" - do they not work with same-sex couples? I also said I was open to other destinations - did they not care to look into other destinations for the dates I provided? I would have been happy to increase our budget or look into other destinations - but I guess they didn't care about offering me other options. It just seems so weird that they wouldn't want to work with me. For a company with such good reviews I'm disappointed that they don't want my business. I hope others have a better experience!
