I had a very disappointing experience with EF Educational Tours customer service…read more I contacted the company two months before the deadline they imposed to request flexibility regarding my situation. Reaching out well in advance, I expected at least a conversation or some level of understanding. Instead, the response I received was rigid and dismissive. There was no empathy, no attempt to offer alternatives, and no outreach to help resolve the issue. I was simply told that I could reach out again after the tour if I still needed assistance -- which defeats the entire purpose of contacting them proactively. For a company that works with families and students on expensive international travel experiences, I expected a much higher level of customer care. If flexibility and responsive customer service are important to you, you may want to think carefully before booking with EF. Based on my experience, their policies appear to take priority over people, even when customers reach out well in advance to try to resolve an issue.

Not worth it. - Hotels; inconsistent wifi, no heat, electricity went out the last day while trying to get ready for our flight - Seats not together on trains, planes or even w/ our personal group - Sitting us in the airport for 2hrs after a 10hr flight, waiting for another group to arrive but took the first group to the hotel right when they landed - Forcing us to the airport early to sit us there for 6hrs bc the other group is leaving much earlier, then expecting us to land after a 6hr airport wait to a 10hr flight & now stay waiting in that airport for our next flight for another 6hrs, THIS IS SOME SORT OF SCAM. Oh here is 30 soles. Wow. - Paid for a 9 day trip & received basically a 6.5 day trip, we were just thrown on someone else's trip to give extra money to their agent. That is criminal. - Only the largest group of travel being considered for all requests/ decisions - Maybe if you are only going to consider one group dont take the money of others just for yr own profit

They were the only company that had a bus available on the day of our trip. Between the time I…read morebooked and the day of our trip, I was called a couple of times with an offer of a discount should I pay the balance in full on Zell or Venmo, which felt fishy to me. I would only pay the balance when due on my credit card; in case something happened, I would be covered. Less than a week before our trip, I got an email saying the bus would not be available because they were waiting for a part to be repaired. I told them that since I had paid in full, it was their responsibility to find another bus. After many phone calls and emails to them, they assured me we would have a bus. The person I spoke to told me to "take a tablet", I guess he meant take a chill pill. I had 38 people who had paid for a lovely day trip on a dinner train, and I was nervous they would not come through with the bus. Thankfully, they sent a bus with a great bus driver. I told him we were already charged a driver gratuity, $216, because I wanted to make sure he was aware and to ask for it. He said the company never gives them the tips. I hope he did get his tip. I will never use this company again. They were too difficult to work with leading up to the trip. Also, my seat was broken, when the bus stopped short my seat went flying forward and I ended up on the floor. I was glad none of our seniors was sitting in the seat.

You will realize something is fishy when the charge goes through an entirely different company called "Shofur." You will search for reviews of Shofur and realize they are a scam company using shell companies, like "Boston Charter Bus Company," in different localities in order to seem legitimate and hide the fact that they have tons of awful reviews. You will read horror stories of ruined events and weddings where they tried to get even more money out of helpless people by calling them the day of the event to say they haven't been able to find a bus, but perhaps they can work something out if you pay them even more. Or you will read horror stories where the buses actually did show up (often extremely late), only to be operated by hostile, dangerous drivers. You will be so concerned about this company ruining your wedding that you will request to cancel your booking (within the cancellation window). They will wait until you are outside of the window to respond. When you ask for your money back they will claim they need to review your request for 60 days. You will, of course, never hear from them again. If you try to get a charge back through your credit card company, it is possible your request will be rejected for unknown reasons, at which point you will be out the equivalent of a month's rent despite receiving absolutely no form of service from this sham of a company. So please, search Shofur. Read the numerous awful reviews and ignore the clearly fake 5-star ones they probably make their employees write for them. If you need buses for an event, contract an actually-local company that owns its own fleet of vehicles. I promise it will be cheaper and far less frustrating.

When visiting Aran Islands (off coast), local guide walked and talked right through down pour, while most in tour group hurried to find shelter at our restaurant ahead! So be prepared! Highlights of trip: visiting sheep farm (although I wished I had been given opportunity to hold a lamb!); Giant Causeway (basalt natural "sculptures"), Titanic museum in Belfast. On the trip I could feel and hear the tension that persists between the Republican of Ireland and Northern Ireland people (from the "Troubles"). This sensitive situation requires diplomacy and absence of political bias from a tour guide, which I did not always feel, unfortunately. Ireland is a beautiful country and seems to be best known for its golf history, courses and pubs.

I always take both the pre and post trip extensions in order to get as much out of the journey while I am there as possible. OAT "personnel" told me that the pre-trip for this journey had been cancelled; yet when I arrived for the main trip the trip leader said that we were all present except for the individuals that took the pre-trip?! Although it didn't cost me anything it cheated me out of an experience that I had asked to book. When I called to make my reservations, I asked about the availability of single accommodations without a single supplement since I travel solo. Single accommodations without an additional supplement is one of my favorite perks with OAT. I was told that it was not a problem for the land portion of the journey; however, due to the very small size of the ship for the cruise portion there were only 2 cabins available for solo travelers and both had already been booked. Perfectly understandable. But when I boarded the ship and began talking amongst the other guests, I found out that there were not just 2 solo cabins, there were 4 and the additional 2 had been booked after I was told that there were no additional solo cabins available! AND the ship was not full; meaning that there were vacant cabins and those could have been used for solo travelers such as myself. INSTEAD of extending me the opportunity as a repeat passenger, I was charged the single supplement of $1,479. A quick recap is that there were 4 (not 2) solo traveler cabins (2 booked AFTER I was told there were none available) as well as vacant/empty cabins without anyone/any money coming in and yet I was penalized by being charged the single supplement The little OAT minions can take there handbook and stick it where the sun doesn't shine and not try to convince me that there was no other option. I am 72 years old and well educated and do not take well to being cheated out of my money and then treated like I am stupid and do not understand how travel works. They are very welcome to my little cheap past traveler pin back. I will not be traveling with OAT ever again nor will I recommend them as I have always done in the past. Nice travel staff/tour guides, but the corporate folks will steal your money before you know it!!!!
