Reasons to fire jewel. I threw this out because it was disgusting Today they said, "sorry, no item, no help

10 years gone. I shop here 5 Days a week. Today I showed the service child this pic. This is a pic of mashed potatoes that I bought a few days ago, here, and these mashed potatoes expire today May 22. He said do you have it. I said no! I threw it out yesterday. He said, then I can't help you. Egads! My mash potato Scam has been found out. Pete's. Mariano's. Here I come

I like this jewel. HOWEVER! No squishmallows since Christmas. Only ugly Valentine's Day random stuffed animals. Please bring back squishmallows. Squishmallows are amazing! Aside from stuffed animals, I like the selection of produce and snacks. It's a really nice grocery store in the west loop. It's got a great large parking lot too. It's across the road from good dog park too. Spacious grocery store, and pretty upscale. I'm a fan. Prices may vary though. You have to look for good deals. Sometimes certain items can be oddly pricey. But yeah, overall a good grocery store. It even has a real person bar. Decent bakery, but mocchi deff has freezer burn.

Nice Jewel. First time here. Very clean, organized and large. Parking lot was clean and easy to navigate. No carts left out considering it was a windy chilly day. Cashier was nice I asked for a card in which she said it is now an app. Which I was in the process downloading with only one person behind me. I didn't get a discount I was hoping for as she was rather rushing. So,I have to say I think this is probably the best Jewel Osco around this area. They typically have what I need and produce is definitely the best one for the Jewel Osco in this area as well. The meat selection has decreased and they always have a abundance of chicken. They do have a great bakery, but I wish they would incorporate more sugar free bakery items. They are very limited there. The staff is helpful and always a clean store.

Went to what used to be my favorite Jewel-Osco on Des Plaines this morning at 6:00 a.m. to get the crab legs that were on sale for $7.99 a pound. NOBODY was at the seafood counter. I asked a nice gentleman if he could get someone to wait on me. He called from the phone. Still no service. After about 10 minutes I asked him to call for a manager. A RUDE WOMAN came not even letting me know she was there. No May I Help You Nothing. I was standing at the Coronavirus 6 ft. space mark. Rude lady was the person who was supposed to be at the counter but was LATE and she had an attitude cause I wanted service. When she took the paper off the seafood THE CRAB LEGS WERE A DISGRACE. Take a look at the picture and form your own opinion. Left that horrible Jewel-Osco located at 370 N. Des Plaines and went to a much better Jewel-Osco on 13th and Canal. They had bags and bags of crab legs. This is a large, neat, Jewel-Osco with polite, helpful employees. Sharon the checkout lady was so kind she made up for my horrible trip to the River North Jewel-Osco at 370 N. Desplaines.

Its a nice convenient grocery store. One day on one of my shopping trips at Jewel, I came upon a fabulous cooking demonstration by the funny Emily Ellyn, the Retro Rad Chef from the Food Network. A large party of friends and family was invited to celebrate an impending wedding by cooking, drinking, and being entertained with Emily. Each guest had a small cooking station with supplies, cooking along as Emily instructs. She is a good instructor and very funny. Her friendly banter kept the cooking class going. On the delicious menu included cauliflower and cream soup, parmesan pork chops, carbernet, and Eli's cheesecake. A simply fun and delicious idea, right near the bar inside Jewel.

My coworker LOVES burgers and it was his last day at work. I totally forgot and frantically called the bakery at this jewel sweating. They have the BEST burger shaped cake. I got the last one and they put it aside for me to pick up The bakers are so nice. BTW the Burger cake is perfect for people who do not like a lot of icing. It's mostly the cake! Everyone at work loved it. WOOHOOO thanks! Buy the burger cake

This was my first time visiting a Jewel Osco in Chicago. Upon arrival I assumed that the store would be tiny and congested, but it was very spacious. The parking lot had ample parking. The floral department had a very nice selection of plants and flowers. There were free samples of food and liquor throughout the store. The store looks newly remodeled and upscaled like Marianos. Also, there's a bar located on the inside which was great!

I can't truly speak on this Jewels because I came here for a Svedka Rose Launch Party and had a blast. It was right in their Bar Area and I didn't know what to expect but I'm so glad I went because the food from Boar's Head was very tasty I have always been a fan of their products. I won a basket and got to meet some new people. There is so much to do around Chicago and some of it is free. If you want to explore the city and you are low on cash checkout Eventbrite/Facebook and you might be able to find some great and unusually venues like I did and be surprised at how much fun you really can have. I never knew about this Jewels but because of that event when I am in the area I know where to go if I need to get some great Boar's Head Deli products. As always folks... Enjoy!!!

Those males they have over there in the deli have ruined the quality of the hot or cooked items over there. I've heard a customer request the $1 item and they said there wasn't any more they'd have to cook them, THEN turned and said they wouldn't have time. They stand back there moving so slow it's unbelievable. The one guy with the real thick glasses has a real nasty attitude. Every time a woman asks for something he's speaking under his breath about them. I hear because I stand a wait for another guy to come available because I never want to deal with him and he speaks negatively of the customers because they have request. Personally, I decided to just go to other locations or other stores, if I want something from the deli. The store is clean, but it be so crowded.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. Darius wasn't lying, the spicy wings were next level. The best grocery store chicken I've ever had. Boomin the Publix fried chicken. Shoutout to the Darius' and Damariea's of the world. Good people. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
