I'm a vegetarian who tries to avoid sugar and likes to shop cheaply. This place, in comparison to…read moreother grocery stores, is adequate. There is a small section of "health(ier) food" and contrary to what you'll hear the produce is fine - it's like other places. Yes, sometimes the avocados and bananas are like rocks (we are in Illinois after all) and sometimes the peppers are kinda wilted, but mostly it's fine. People complain that things are overpriced here, which seems dumb to me. The sales are good and sometimes things are overpriced, just like they can be at Walmart and Target. Just be a careful shopper and a creative/versatile cook and you'll be fine. Booze section is huge in comparison to the size of the store. What's up Coal City? Do we need to talk? What I will critique is that they have a bakery in house and yet all of their breads are the same and boring. Rolls are essentially odd-shaped hamburger buns and the baguettes are very long hamburger buns. I assume the hamburger buns are spot on, but it would be fitting if they weren't.

Now Berkots requires you to "clip" a coupon. Fine for those who love in the area. For those of us traveling in the area or visiting family, not such a great deal. My product was $1.00 higher than the sign. Why. Because I did not "clip" a coupon. Berkots made an extra $1.00 today. But in the future, any money I may have spent at Berkots, will now be spent at Jewel-Osco. I recommend anyone, but most especially those from our of town, to only buy at Jewel-Osco. They give you the lower price at all times. Good luck Berkots. I always liked shopping at your stores. But no longer.

When we walked in, the bakery was completely empty, yet staff helped customers who came in after us while we stood at the register waiting for several minutes before finally speaking up. Once we mentioned we were there for AmazeCo, the employee helping us initially tried to hand us someone else's order even after we gave our name. After finally locating our box, we discovered it only contained croissants with bacon and ham. We explained that one person in our group cannot eat pork and asked if there was any possibility of exchanging an item, especially since every other stop on the AmazeCo experience was accommodating of dietary restrictions. The response we received was simply, "That sucks," with no attempt to help or offer an alternative. The lack of customer service and professionalism really left a bad impression, especially considering the positive experiences we had everywhere else that day.

Probably the best Boston cream donut I've ever had!…read more DeEtta's bakery offers pies, cookies, cakes, muffins and donuts (donuts offered Friday - Sunday). They also have coffees as well. This small shop does not have any seating. It is a grab n go place that way you're able to devour their sweets in peace haha. The donuts aren't labeled which made it hard for me to decide what I wanted. I did ask the staff member what some of them were which took a few extra minutes. I also did not see a sign for how much their donuts are. I stopped in on a Saturday around 830am and it was BUSY. A couple came in to pick up their custom made wedding cake while others were there for a Saturday sweet treat. Staff members were friendly and on top of their game. I got 2 donuts, Boston cream and maple pecan. Both were delicious and fresh. The Boston cream donut is a show stopper. It was thicccck and filled with a generous amount of custard. The dough was fluffy and the chocolate on top was not overly sweet.

I followed up three separate times after the event to share my concerns and received no response at all--which really shows how little they value customer service. * I didn't receive the full list of cake flavor options until four days before pickup, and when I asked to switch flavors, I was told it was already too late because the cakes had been baked without confirming my choice. * I had a confirmed pickup time of 10:30 a.m., but when I arrived, I was told the designer went home sick and the cakes weren't finished. I ended up waiting until 11:45 a.m. for them to be decorated, which explains the rushed design. * The cake pops weren't ready, so I had to cancel them and run to another store last-minute to find replacements. * I specifically requested pastel colors, but the cakes were decorated in bright colors that didn't match anything we discussed. * The design and quality were extremely disappointing--the decorations looked rushed, the frosting was hard, and the smash cake wasn't even edible for its intended use. Overall, this was an unprofessional and frustrating experience from start to finish. Between the poor communication, lack of accountability, low-quality product, and complete disregard for customer concerns, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. They clearly do not prioritize quality or customer service.

They have mini pies for $5 and while it was hard to decide (assorted cheesecakes, key lime pie, sweet potato pie, etc.); I bought a mini peach cobbler for hubby.
