I have been shopping at Jewel for over 50 years and always found them being a great store. However ever since they came up with digital for U sales which sometimes is so hard to do. also why do they make you buy 4 of something to get the sale price. Why do I need 4 gallons of ice cream or creamer and so many other items. Why not just give you the sale price with only buying 1. Baggers need to be TRAINED and SUPERVISED. Bags are overfilled, cans put on top of delicate items. Bags are too heavy for seniors to carry. This usually happens with the younger baggers. Examine your receipts when you get home, because you often do not get the advertised sale price. I have started taking pictures of the sale signs so I remember what things should have cost. I go back with my receipt for a refund. They often run out of advertised sale items. At least they will give you a rain check, but you have to remember to ask for it. Employees are pleasant, store is nice and clean. Bathrooms are clean, carts are brought inside regularly. read more

This review pertains solely to the floral department. I have to pass floral to get to the pharmacy and they were stocking their roses for sale today. They were so incredibly beautiful on display that I could not take my eyes off them! I had no intention of shopping at Jewel. I was there for the pharmacy. These flowers on the display were THAT beautiful I had to get some!!! Every floral experience I've had at Jewel has been positive. Love the Jewel store in Lemont. Great staff, clean store. As for the deli, it has big problems. More salads and prepared food items than actual deli meat and cheese. Deli meat section consists of three fourths of Boar's Head product. Boar's Head has had salmonella issues at the plants. One quarter consists of Land O' Lakes cheeses, Jewel brand Primo Taglio ham, turkey one salami and one Kretschmar ham. No Sara Lee product and no Butter Ball product. Since the deli meat I wanted was not available I opted for Land O' Lakes American cheese. Signage for every LOL cheese was $6.99lb. I asked for one pound yellow American. The deli employee hands it to me and I notice the price $8.34. I asked her why it's $8.34 and she tells me it's a couple of slices over. First of all I never mind it going over. The label read 1.04lb. as the weight, barely over. Actual price then would be little over $7. I notice it's weighed at $7.99lb. I told her it's $6.99, kept insisting it's a little over. Then tells me she can't put it in the system for $6.99lb. This employee needs to be re-trained. I gave it back and left my other groceries in the shopping cart and walked out. Drove to the other local store and had to start all over again. For a while I was going to Jewel in Downers Grove because Lemont Jewel's deli was closing at four. They carry all other brand deli meat but Lemont Jewel primarily just Boars Head. read more

While shopping I saw there was a sale on ice cream on an end cap. It was $3.99 with the U rewards. I tried to find the coupon in the app which is difficult to use. I couldn't find it but found another for buy 1 get 1 free. After I paid I checked my receipt and the coupon did not come off. I asked at the service desk and they said the coupon is only for online orders (WTH???). Which of course is in the fine print and I didn't have my glasses. So I mentioned the sign that is on the endcap for $3.99 and the guy at the service desk said "that he doubts that." I walked back and took a picture to show him. His response was that the sale ended. Then why is there an endcap full of the ice cream and the sale sign is still there. After arguing with him he agreed to give me the sale price but made me feel like I was trying to scam him. So unprofessional. The worst part is that this is the 5th time in my last 6 trips to this Jewel that I had pricing issues. With that amount of issues I really feel that they are committing fraud. There is no way you can have so many accidental pricing mistakes. The guy at the service desk even said he hears the same complaints all day. They should be investigated for fraud. The Just for U is very confusing to navigate. Went in the specials and they are out of stock on a lot of items. Some employees are not very pleasant. I think if you have an app that would allow you to Purchase sale items without navigating your system. read more

Earlier this month, on a Monday, I went to this Jewel to use their Coinstar machine. I had called around 8PM the night before and the woman who answered told me that it was working. However, when I arrived that morning, just after 7AM, the machine's screen was covered by an 8x11 piece of paper with "Out of Order" written on it in black marker. I was a bit irked and somewhat suspicious, as I wondered how many people would have used the machine after I had called the night before, Superbowl Sunday? As I had other things to do that morning, I left. Later, I called at 11AM, and the young woman who answered told me that the machine was working. Although I was somewhat doubtful, I was also nearby, and so I went back to the store, less than ten minutes after I called, only to find the same sign on the screen. I was about to go to the customer service desk to complain, when I saw one of the store managers (who I used to think of as a halfway-decent chap). When I told him of the situation, he actually looked and sounded angry--at me! But then he sighed an annoyed sigh and then said he'd look into it. I followed him to the customer service desk, where he queried the two women who were there. One in particular, tallish, thin, with excessively dyed black hair, went to the machine, with the manager and myself following her. She determined the machine was working, yanked the sign from the screen, and then turned on her heel and walked away, the manager in tow. Over her shoulder she said, "You're welcome," in a voice tinged with sarcasm. (I guess I should have thanked her, or perhaps genuflected in her presence?) So, the machine was working, it was incorrectly marked, I was given erroneous information that caused me to make an extra trip to that store, and I was subjected to the negative attitudes of two employees. I'm 67, and I don't appreciate being talked to like that, especially when I didn't do anything wrong except what, point out a problem in the store? But then again, it's the Jewel in Lemont, where courtesy towards customers is not always on the shelves. And that Monday happened to be my birthday. read more

I made an appointment for my flu shoot at 12 pm and when I got there already were waiting 4 people , when the pharmacist Joseph Sheen come outside to take the next door I ask him my appointment was at 12 and he responded mad and rude " well people are waiting for one hour , you have to wait for your turn" so I will take you on 45 minutes , I told him , why they let us make appointments then if you are not taking people at the time of the appointment? he continue to raise his voice so rude and he said well you have to wait . I appreciate this Jewel Store. After moving out here from the City and experiencing many local Jewel stores there this is really a jewel of... well Jewels. The staff are mostly very friendly. The store shelves are well stocked. The dates on the produts are cycled properly. Some of the better produce you will come across I feel bad for the deli department sometimes because they are often slammed but they do a good jobs. So for everyone dissatisfied with this store I'll take you on a field trip into the City, and you might appreciate what you have. read more

Where do I start? When you enter you clean your own cart which is fine, but the wipes are dried out and contain little or no disinfectant. The deli woman was wearing her mask below her nose while slicing my chicken. The manager had to come to ring my wine. I told him I didn't want the chicken and explained why. He merely took my chicken, walked over and put it on the deli counter and walked away. I wonder what happened to it and if he ever addressed the mask issue. I shop at Jewel-Osco in New Lenox most time. Yesterday I went into the Lemont Jewel-Osco and the store was so clean. It was well stocked and every associate I passed in the aisles had on a mask and they all asked me if I was finding everything I needed. The Pharmacy Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. At checkout the cashier and the person bagging my groceries were friendly and took the time to explain the new service they now have available. 5-STARS hands down!! read more

I bought lunch meats today. The sale price advertised is not the price your getting. They don't change the price in the scale system. This is the second time it's happen. This is false advertising and ripping the public off. I told the manager the only reason I got the sale price was I saw the price on the scale wasn't right. Just think everyone buying meats and cheese in the deli are paying full price. Very disappointed in doing business this way. Make sure you look closer to any sale items in the future. Yesterday I had a very unpleasant experience with one of the cashiers in Jewel Osco by the name of Donna. Right when I walked up to the cashier she did not bother to say hello and had an attitude, me and my friend were purchasing a wine bottle, when she asked for an ID my friend provided her an ID that was valid, but Donna said she could not take it and immediately put the wine bottle aside and said she can't sell it. She never had a problem with her ID before and was always accepted , even in this same Jewel Osco just at a different cashier. When we asked to speak to the manager she did not even bother to call them over and continued having an attitude. I am very disappointed as this isn't the first time I've encountered this problem with the same cashier, this has happened before with my mother who as well provided a valid ID but was unable to purchase alcohol. read more

I bought a birthday cake for my son, his girlfriend has a severe peanut allergy. The ingredients were not listed so I called. He couldnt find or print out any ingredients as he suggested. I asked well dont you bake the cakes there he said well the only way I can check is if I look at the ingredients on each ingredient that the cake was made with would you like me to do that for you? I said yes and he didnt seem confident in his answer of "it doesn't look like anything with peanut or tree nuts are in the cake"...so if he wasnt sure and there was she would have ended up in the hospital. For a big store like Jewel to be located in a small town directly across the street from an ALDI you'd think the Manager would stress customer service. I dread going to the deli there. The people are so slow and RUDE! This past Sunday I was getting chicken and the guy gave me this very deformed unidentifiable piece, I asked him to change it and he got mad, was talking behind the glass and when I said "sorry I didn't hear you" he said "I'll change it". I know that's not what he was saying. I went to the customer service desk to inform them, no one was there. I waited a few minutes and no one came, so I left and this is why I'm on Yelp now. In addition I don't think the store sees enough business, the produce is never great and you have to constantly check expiration dates on other foods. I'll continue to do my shopping at ALDI and for my deli I'll go to Celinas. Can't wait for something to open up in the old Chipains store! read more

I don't often leave reviews, but this Jewel is beyond frustrating. They are not cleanly and are often out of basic things like rotisserie chickens and red onions! Pretty basic grocery store items. Often the produce is rotting and looks terrible, think soft avocados and strawberries with mold. I only go here when in a pinch and I don't think that rearranging the store to add international foods is going to save this from some of the better, newer, more accommodating grocery store chains. read more

The bakery dept is normally very good. We bought bagged cookies recently that are supposed to be baked . They were barely baked and as a result, they were sticking together. I finished baking them at home. I called and spoke to the bakery mgr and she wanted me to bring them back for her to see . I told her I finished baking them. I told her to check the other bags of cookies as I sure the one I bought was not the only bag with a problem as they don't bake one bag at a time! read more

Got chicken salad the other day and it had 2 large bones in it. Luckily I didn't cut my mouth or break a tooth. There is a new deli guy there who whenever you ask for a salad from the deli, he asks you how many salads you will be wanting "so he doesn't have to go back and get more containers". I am not sure yet how many I want! He wont move until you decide your total number of salads and when he finally does move, he is like an injured snail. It is not like he has to walk any distance to get another container. All he has to do is turn around and pick one up. Please train or get rid of this guy!! read more

What struck me about this location is how spacious it was! My local jewel feels like a constant traffic jam whether in an aisle or trying to check out, but this site had extra wide aisles for everything, and an easy to follow layout! So nice. Just came for ice, which was easily found and was able to self check out (yay! still have those!) and be on my way in less than 5 minutes. read more

I don't shop at jewel very often but I needed to pick up a few items I can't get elsewhere in town. While there I noticed a display "buy one get one free". I decided to pick up-beef fajita. It was the worst when I opened the package the meat was full of fat and gristle after trimming I cooked the meat and peppers - tough as hell we couldn't even eat it. I bought beef tenderloin at berkots for $7.99 a pound. This was $8.99 a pound. Never again! Jewel should be ashamed to sell such inferior meat read more

Horrible store! Ordered chicken for pickup. The deli was loaded with people and only one worker, a smart aleck named Gordy. Supposed to pick up 10 pieces of chicken and fries at 5:15. Finally got it at 6:00. One poor guy working on the chicken all alone just couldn't handle it. NEVER going back. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews for this location before spending nearly $20 on King crab legs. I purchased them from the seafood cooler with plans on eating them when I got home. Once I unwrapped them they smelled horrible, not wanting to waste the money I tried to cook them any way. They smelled even worse cooked, kind of spoiled and the knuckle meat was slimy and brown. Disgusting. I would have returned them if I still had my receipt. read more
