I'm so disappointed with the O.P. Caputo store. I keep asking the service desk when I return items if Carol Stream corp sends all the seconds of perishables to the O.P. store. This week again cheese green in 2 days in fridge. Asparagus moldy in 2 days. Husband and wife managers work their asses off and corporate people visit and complain and move lemons around because they are not pristine. Go help out the poor workers in Deli where they need it. I've cut back and have limited my visit's and have abandoned my cart with only 1 cashier on a few occasions. My only hope is they get some support from corp and the store doesn't go away. read more

Had a conversation with one of the managers at Caputos today. Had gone in to pick up "breakfast stuff" from their little "cafe" area. That is ALWAYS an "iffy" proposition, as 50% of the time it just isn't there, even though I've had several "management types" there tell me it is SUPPOSED to be. ANYWAY, this woman (behind the customer service desk) told me that they HAVE had lots of complaints about this "chef", who is apparently not HALF as good as their "old chef". Today (Sunday, November 30th) he had apparently "come in late", and that was the official excuse. I'm no kid (I'm 67), but (to me) that is a very simple reason to get a new/better chef (maybe one that doesn't require quotation marks?). I've only rarely tried their lunch/dinner entrees, but (when I did) they they were consistently over-salted and under-seasoned.... I'll bet there's a housewife out there who would be thrilled to show up on time, crank out a few trays of bacon and eggs, and call it a day. 90% of Caputos negative reviews are related to this one department, cannot imagine why they hesitate to make a much-needed change! read more

This was a very nice grocery store just opened on the west end of Orland Park. This is probably the third grocery store to try this location, as Berkot's and Bobak's were located here before. But that said, Caputos' should do just fine. This is their eighth location in the Chicago-area suburbs. Caputo's offers a wonderful selection of the usual grocery items. This store location has many of the same layout particulars that the older store had, but that is because they took over an existing store. But their take on a grocery store is fresh and clean. They have an extensive produce section, and an exceptional deli. Their meat section is about half what the previous owner had. For the rest, it is pretty much the usual ... for example, you can buy your Wheaties pretty much anywhere and this is another place to do that. I think their main draw is going to be the people on the west side of Orland. In the middle of Orland you have Jewel, Whole Foods, and a Pete's Fresh coming soon; on the southern end you have the Mariano's ... so Orland offers a lot of choices. To expand their draw Caputo's might consider having something special twice a year - such as a truckload meat sale. This will differentiate them from all the others ... just a thought. When we went today it was Caputo's soft opening. They will have a grand opening in the coming weeks ... this opening was just to shake the bugs out. I like Angelo's a lot for everything but produce, they sell bad produce. I have gotten DoorDash deliveries roughly about 6 times now and everytime my produce is bad, like rotten! It's wild they are still selling bad fruits and vegetables. Like no one is combing through it at all. It's suppose to be a "fresh market", but every single time I try and buy fruit it's rotten, moldy, spoiled to the point it has holes, leakage, and visible mold on it. Produce 0/10 everything else solid 7/10. read more

E X P E N S I V E ! .... You'd need a second job just to shop here on a regular basis or risk going broke at the check out counter. They do carry many specialty items from a global assortment of nations that you could not find in your local suburban grocery store. But try shopping around, especially if you're in an ethnic neighborhood that has more little ethnic grocers that are NOT as pricey as you would believe. Caputo's has the specialty market cornered in this area or one would believe but shop around. I bought the cherry pie marked down from $8.99 down to $3.99. It wasn't worth $3.99 ! It had like a skimpy handful of cherries in it, the rest was a weak cherry gel encased in a cardboard tasting crust. Yuk! But I'm still giving Caputo's 4 stars based on presentation, selection and the quality of the other items. Watch your wallets and purses here, thieves may not swipe your cash but this store will. Caputo's is my local choice for grocery shopping. Mariano's is closer, but I prefer Caputo's because they carry a lot of stuff Mariano's does not. During the holiday season they had a variety of torrone and other Italian desserts. Most of the time I can't find any torrone anywhere. My favorite item they carry is premade pizza dough in the refrigerator case alongside the deli soups. It's a really nice quality that rolls out perfectly to the size of my Lodge cast iron pizza pan and turns out with the consistency I like. They also have pizza sauce, marinara and other fixings there but I haven't tried those yet. Meat counter is good. They also have a large selection of international packaged stuff, like Indian spice mixes, dal, Middle Eastern ingredients and whatnot. I buy a fair amount of this stuff so it's great they carry it. The produce is just ok. It's not Pete's but then nothing is Pete's. No issues with staff at all. A couple other reviews noted slowness or inattentiveness, but that was right when they opened. I've experienced none of that The parking lot is a nice size. It's right next to a big gym, so you can feel appropriately guilty when you walk out the door with an armload of torrone and panettone. read more

Was looking for a hostess gift and happen to spot Caputo's, a store I'm familiar with from their Grand Ave. location. Happy to see that this iconic market has ventured to the SW Suburbs. I was able to pick up flowers and ice close to the exit. The store isn't as large as the one in Elmwood Park, but they carry all types of Italian specialties that are imported and not readily found in other markets. If you try the San Marzano peeled, crushed or diced tomato for your sauce base, you won't ever bother with domestic again. Our preference is Cento brand. Yes it's that good. Glad to see there are more shopping choices available for my familia in the local area. Grandma was from Italy, we take our Italian fare seriously. read more

I am sitting in the parking lot it is 6:22 PM and I just left this store. Ugh. I do not like this store at all. I have lived in Orland now for over 20 years and this location has been Berkots and Bobaks. This store is never gonna make it like the other ones. There is ALWAYS a line and with three registers open you still have to wait. The self check out is down to two. Had four when they first opened and now down to two but big signs say closed and no bags so probably will never open. The aisles are so small that two carts can't make it down the aisle without crashing into someone and if you stop your cart you create a traffic jam. Thank you to the lady in produce who stopped her cart sideways so no one gets through. I watched people not go down an aisle because there is no room. They gotta be losing business because of this. There is nothing next door to the store EXPAND and get more registers open. I don't care when I come here it's always like this. Oh. And my favorite was the lady at the service desk who asked me twice if I had the app which I do not and then was more concerned about her little counter than getting me rung out. Take some tips from Jewel or even Aldi in Orland Park Caputo's! You can't afford to slip with all the choices now and with a Pete's getting ready to open. I really enjoy smaller grocery stores where you can make a quick stop and pick up everything you need without having to walk across a giant supercenter. I like that the store is clean and neatly organized and typically has everything I need. The couple of times I bought grapes there they're not as fresh as they could be, but that is very small con compared to all the pros. I typically get my fresh fruit somewhere else. Looking for great options for fresh food and pre-prepped meals, this is the place. I highly recommend the pre made pizzas you cook yourself (margarita especially) & their soups and entree selections are actually all phenomenal (but can be pricey). Not everything here is a great deal, but there are plenty of things here that are. A nice store, friendly staff, and always clean. Would highly recommend trying. read more

Love Caputo's first time at the Orland location. Unorganized, under staffed (deli), food in the hot bar was old and moldy looking. I know They just opened... NO GRAND OPENING deals...zero zilch. Parking lot was empty at 6pm today. Lots of open spots. No visible management. Plenty of people not in key areas standing around looking confused. (1) guy in the deli serving a line of 12 people. Not following the number system. Was expecting the usual " Caputo's wow" but left the store disappointed. Will give them another shot in 3 months.... However, will continue shopping at Pete's in Lemont and Willowbrook. They have the wow factor. read more

In so far a this trip to their store I was highly disappointed. The website showed the old sales ad...... and it was a Thursday, the second day of the new sale. Just that wiped out three hours of my time because I don't live close and I spent an hour perusing the old ad. Other than that the store is expensive and hence the wasted trip. I've had a few great experiences shopping at Caputo's. I'm happy with their more expansive fruit and vegetable selection than the average chain store. (And way cheaper that Jewel or WF) Their ready-made soups are terrific - sometimes hard to get - and the desserts we bought for Christmas were absolutely fresh & delicious. I used Angelo Caputo's Orland Park store for catering orders many times and there is always something wrong with the order. The order is either wrong, something is missing, or the catering order is either not ready on time or not available. Today I went to pick up a desert order and the order wasn't there for pick up. I have had to scramble to get catering after Caputo's has not made my order. They are very unreliable. read more

It was our first visit to this store on Christmas Eve. We were hosting friends who have a son with a severe nut allergy. We went over to the bakery and they were so accommodating. They offered to make fresh cannolis that were nut free for us! The woman behind the counter was so nice, she tracked us down in the store after the cannolis were freshly made and then helped us pick out a wonderful fresh pasta for our Christmas Eve meal. Tried for a second time . Don't recommend and won't go back.Stopped at 430 pm. As other reviews state exactly true-hot bar food was old and and dried up - meatballs, salmon , fettuccine not fresh in the least. 1 container was $16.15.Avacados in front for 99c were dried up like prunes and black . No one would buy them.There were some green ones in back , so they placed the bad ones in front. 90% of items were much higher than other grocery stores . Example- same size can of peas at Aldi for 49c were $1.79 at Caputo's huge difference.Meier about 1/2 the price. The selection here is good especially Italian items , but prices were ridiculously high. Hardly no one in the store. I can see why. Great location , nice size store. Management needs to shop other stores for comparable prices because they're missing the boat here . Too bad . Miss managed Pricing.No deals .Nothing even to bring u in.Yellow signs on some items say wholesale pricing = means nothing. Really disappointed in this store. read more

This place is very nice and clean, just what most of us would want. Beautiful displays, nice colors throughout the store, all and I mean all employees are very helpful and pleasant. HOWEVER, many of the brands are unknown, to most, of us. There are many "European" brands, but the ones I tried were not that great. The Bakery has an enormous display of items, but what we bought was very unimpressive, some cannoli "apple...."tasted terrible, do not know if these were spoiled, but just in case we threw these to the trashcan. The rest of the regular cannolis, were nothing in comparison to those in Mariano's. Some of the dates in milk cartons were close to shelf life, but still good, the place open recently and actually is very empty, thus we figure that such was the reason, no people no sales. Everything we bought is being consumed, so no problem here. But for us to return shopping at Caputo's, we will wait a few months and see, if there has been any changes. Again the store is super clean and well supplied there was not one empty shelf, which is seen in Mariano's throughout the store, with not so pleasant employees. Prices are very comparable to Marianos, or Walmart (groceries) but not to the expensive Jewel-Osco, with mostly nasty and disrespectful employees. For our bakery it will always be Whole Foods, Trader's Joe or Marianos, in that order. Please patronize and comment, as others might find this place not so nice. read more
