Been gone for 25 years. Recently back. This place is depressing. "Live less well and be happy about it" seems to be the theme. Every time there are bare shelves, limited supply, substandard produce and sullen staff. I wasted time linking my card to the app so a QR scan would pay as convenience. Yet to find a checker that knows how to do it. Not a big deal but another example of a poorly run operation. read more

I have never been to a Jewel that disappointments. When you walk in there is always a great flower display to welcome you. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. I love that they offer taste testing for new alcohol, beer and wine (with ID of course). The prices are fair for the product and items are fresher than fresh. Highly recommend for your grocery shopping, and or alcohol needs. read more

Standard Jewel-Osco. The grocery store is laid out so you can find things easily. They promote the Cheap Chicken Monday, and all the other hot food like $1 dollar hot dog on Saturday. The food is always ready to go. Other than that pretty standard grocery store. read more

I am a regular customer at the Jewel store in South Elgin. I was there today to get stamps. I only wanted 6 stamps not a book of stamps. so I went to the customer service desk n talked to an employee named Kim. I asked for 6 stamps n so she started to ring me up but she rang up 6 books of stamps. I said no I don't want 6 books of stamps I want 6 individual stamps. I am thinking how hard is that to comprehend. She said she wont give me 6 stamps n had to buy a book of stamps which I didnt want to n she said I had to go to the post office if I only needed individual stamps. She was rude to me n thought it was a joke n thought I told her wrong n never said sorry for the mistake or confusion. She needs to listen better to the customers n actually care n not rush to get the customer out either read more

Regularly has expiring or already expired dairy products such as yogurt faced to the front of shelves. Today, yogurt one month past expiration was faced by staff and all newer piles in the back making you have to remove the front rows to get any. Yogurt also open, warm, leaking.... Other products similar situation. Management doesn't seem to care when brought up. read more

This is a nice Jewel. Friendly employees, great selection of merchandise.

Food quality has gone down prices still high. Cashiers are rude to customers. Even managers treat you like you stole something. Just get better people to work there. Disappointing won't be shopping here again. Way better options at other stores. read more

Tons of unmasked shoppers here and management says they won't do anything about it. They're empowered because they know that management he will not enforce the sign on the door. So they shop here. I'm going to shop somewhere else. That sign doesn't mean anything if there isn't support from the management of the store. read more

The pharmacy is not competent enough to stock vaccines for the appointments they make. Try somewhere else.

Jewel has sunk to all new lows. I grew up on Jewel. I can't articulate the frustration with this store, as we regularly have four or five items on our weekly list unavailable at this store. Just shopped there for Christmas list. Not even half of the items on our list are available. I was spoiled by Marianos for years, then moved here and am stuck with Jewel. Until today. We are DONE! Will go ANYWHERE ELSE! Oh, and the employees in general don't care. Stand in line sometime and listen to the checkers complain openly about their jobs. SEE YA! Go to Caputo's Market, just a 1/4 mile south on Randall. Wonderful, fresh produce, meats, and all shelves are stocked. Bye Jewel! read more

3.5 stars. Excellent ice cream selection. Mexican pepsi and coke, Martinelli's apple juice (large jug was on sale for $3something), pre-cooked frozen king crab legs ($12.99/lb, might be a promotional price). Peaches and nectarines were super ripe when I had went ($2.99/lb). Not as diverse of a selection as the Lakeview Jewel, understandably. Prices aren't the best, even when an item is on sale (ie. Ragu spaghetti sauce for this week: Butera $1, Meijer $1.50, Jewel $1.67). But sometimes, they offer nice prices on certain items if you're okay with shopping around at different places for the week's/month's groceries. read more

There's this larger guy who is always working, a manager or something who always makes me uncomfortable at the self check out. It makes me feel like he thinks I'm stealing. This has happened at least 5 times to the point that I have started avoided going. I don't steal and don't like being stared at in a suspect way...it kind of offends me. read more

This is my favorite grocery store. This Jewel is very organized, very clean, and very affordable. I always like going to shop for groceries because I feel like I don't have to hustle and bustle or get lost in finding what I need. They have their organization down to science. Plus, their staff is very nice. The only reason why I'm giving this Jewel four stars instead of five is because unfortunately when I wait for honey wings at the deli counter, it takes forever. I mean literally forever. The last time I went to get honey wings it took a half an hour. Granted, they did run out of wings, but it was a Sunday and they should have known that everyone would be coming in to buy food for the football games. It's a little obvious that they should have been on top of making one of their best products. Other than that though, I say thank you to this Jewel because my shopping experience has been nice, laid back, and organized. read more

This jewel is great for a lot of reasons. Food is always fresh and stocked and clean. So I'd love to give it 5 stars. But in the last month I've been in 5 times and each time I notice either a patron not wearing a mask or specifically a stock person (same guy with glasses) not wearing one and eating and drinking on the floor while working!!! I was blown away! Once they were eating a bag of chips and their holding place is a cooler that holds food to sell! I asked him politely to please keep it on. But later saw him on a phone at customer service talking without a mask on. Are you for real?! The second time I came in, same guy! ( who always looks a little frazzled) I couldn't help just observing and he would take the mask off regularly to take swigs out of a 2LCoke same spot! That's completely unsanitary and not to mention scary not only to patrons but the rest of the employees there really making a clear and concerted effort to stay safe and keep masks securely on. Back to the other two customers tho, this again happened on two diff occasions. I asked management to take care of it and both times (both men)they made it seem like they really didn't care and did nothing about it. It's pretty scary to think we're all being cautious only to go somewhere where they don't even enforce safety with their own employees or when a customer brings up an issue. Which really sucks because again I love this store. I hope they really get it together, because I'd hate to take my business elsewhere. read more

I love the flower selection here but sadly I will no longer shop here. There are always long lines and people waiting to get checked out. I went in for flowers and I was waiting for 25 min to check out. There is no self check out and the express check out is just as lengthy as waiting in a regular line. My cashier actually stopped during my checkout to say hello to someone they knew and see how they were doing. Then she made a comment about how they were short staffed today. This cannot be the case because it is the same way every time I go there which is usually once a week. I will find my flowers elsewhere moving forward. read more

I did come here to buy some vegetables, total is $15 but i love to use self check out. It's looked fun to me. So I tried it, and the machine was not running well in put in the bags part( un-scan item...., but I really scan all of them). Then the machine call to hep when I was finished everything, just the payment part - one staff came to scan to let I finish and pay, and that guy opened my bag to check the items and count how many I have, check is that match with the machine or not like I steal something else. OMG it's never happened to me before. I've been shopping with Mariano in 4 years, Walmart .... but never see it before. It very terrible customer service. Bye bye! read more

Store is clean and staff friendly. However, the fish odor emanating from the meat department is a complete turnoff. FRESH FISH DOES NOT SMELL!!! We moved from Schaumburg 6 months ago and the first time I encountered this I thought it was a fluke, but it has continued. Neither of the 2 Schaumburg stores ever smelled in the 25 years we shopped there nor has any any other Jewel store failed to project anything other than a very sanitary image. It's a shame that the management at this location seems to be unaware of this problem. read more

I've now lived in this area for about five years and am in this store at least three times a week. I have NEVER had anything but a very favorable experience here. The employees always give one a smile and say hello; always say excuse me if they even come close to impeding your progress, and in general are helpful and courteous. What a great place!!! I love the way you can judge the say, cost per ounce, pound, etc, per item, and can always find the expiration date (as opposed to say, Costco). And their pharmacy discount program is unbelievable!! No, I'm not related to the company or anyone working here. I just appreciate a great retail experience and believe this effort shoud be acknowledged. read more

One of the worst places to shop. This Jewel has major issues with it's workforce and prices. The prices are absurdly high, even when the products they sell are on sale. When products they have go on "sale", it's the regular non-sale price at other stores like Walmart, or Meijer. Also, the customer service is abysmal. The managers there are no help at all and seem to have the worst look for customers. If you've been going to shop here for a long time, I recommend going to Target or Meijer. They seem to be much better on prices than Jewel. read more

Thank God Target got self check-outs installed right around when you took them out ! It's 2017 and you are implementing backwards thinking. Your cashiers are more concerned with each other, than the customers. They often chat while ringing up a customer. It's rude. You should tell them they need to be as fast as I would have been with self check out. Someone should notice how slow and distracted they are. Meijer and Target have the check out process mastered. read more

Witnessed two female managers berating a young male employee for not going outside to retrieve carts. Employee apologized many times, but these two continued to humiliate him in front of everyone who was in the check-out lanes. Corporate retraining is needed as no employee deserves to be reprimanded in public. Store clean and efficient; but if it is run by power-hungry managers, the store will soon deteriorate to feed their egos. BTW, these managers did nothing while I was watching except to stand with arms crossed, glaring at everyone. Happened on 12-18-2016. read more
