Their frozen section is loaded with everything from burgers and hotdogs to jalapeño poppers and a fantastic selection of seafood, all in those big, convenient packs. And it's not just frozen stuff they also carry massive containers of pantry staples like BBQ sauce, mayo, and so many other essentials. My first time at this GFS location, and the store was clean but the service was horrible. As I waited in line to purchase my items, a man lined up behind me (only 1 register open) a male employee told him, " I can take you over here". A second man got in line behind me, then a second employee said, " I can take you over here" at another register. I was the only African-American in the store. I do not want to believe they left me standing and took the other Caucasian shoppers, who was in line after me, because of race, BUT, it SURELY APPEARED that way. Each of us shoppers only had a few items, and the only difference was race. I will make sure, 1. I stay out of that store. 2. I call their corporate offices to report this. read more

I realize this place is more for small businesses that need bulk quantities, but it's kind of a fun place to shop, especially if you're planning a party. I mean, getting a sheet cake really cheap is reason enough to shop here, and the place is super clean and well laid out. I bought a pack of 50 disposable bowls to make oatmeal. Dirt cheap! I also saw some things I'd like to get later. Candy, frozen stuff, paper products, it's all there. Next time I'm planning a bar-b-que, I will stop in at GFS. read more

The woman manager there is horrendous! She has a horrible attitude and absolutely 0 customer service skills. She talks to her employees and customers as if she was their mother. I went in to pick up an order I had placed online. I called ahead of time to see if it was okay that I came by earlier than the time of pick up. The young man I spoke to said yes as it was already being picked and if it wasn't ready by the time I got there I can help just pick the rest of the items. It was 5 bags of bread and 1 case of ribs, nothing crazy. I get there and the young man is helping me. He couldn't find the paper for the order so he asked her for help. She starts questioning me with a horrible attitude. Asking why I don't just pick the items off the shelf and pay for them right there as she couldn't find the order. I explained to her it's a company card and I ordered it online so I wouldn't double charge the card. She tells me "that's not how you're supposed to order for a company". I explained to her many times that we don't use them as our vendor just as a one off thing we forget to order. She continues to lecture me that's not how it's done and I didn't do it correctly. I asked if the order number would help , she tells me "no you don't get order numbers for these types of orders" I tell her here's the email and she said she didn't need to see it as it wasn't on there... she didn't even look. There was so much more but I'll leave it at, she needs another job where she's in a closet talking to nobody. read more

This is a review for the Palatine location on Rand Rd. just north of Dundee Rd. next to the Discount Tire. This place is a life-saver. My senior father has some health issues and requires a new-to-him special diet and they have what he needs. Online, the shipping alone is over $30 since it has to stay frozen (Magic Cup). One phone call to this place and they have a case the very next day. No shipping! The staff has been so friendly and helpful too. Thank you GFS! read more

This location no longers honors the GFS weekly/monthly promotional sales flyers. I was told that the Palatine GFS store also has the same policy. No explanation of why they have stopped participating just that they don't honor the sales listed in the ads. They could at least list on the email flyers they send out that Palatine and Schaumburg locations are no longer participating in promotional sales. Very Disappointed. read more

Went in yesterday to check it out. I get their flyers in the mail so I thought I would finally see what they had to offer. Of the things I would purchase I was able to spot a couple deals, most of the stuff was the same price as it would be at SuperTarget, and some things (like cereal) seemed to be more expensive. The samples they offered were nice. If you want a large quantity of something and don't have a wholesale club membership this may be a good place to go, however, I doubt I'll be back. read more

I wont be missing driving to Palatine as much since this is down the streeet from me. Great location and plenty of parking. They had a nice grand opening welcoming everyone. Staff is great, not used to them yet, as I knew the Palatine staff more. Some transferred over which was great to see a familiar face. The set-up is different, and took me longer than usual to find everything but not bad at all. Their prices seemed to be a bit more but then again Schaumburg is more pricey. 2/2021 Don't make it in here very often any more since Covid. But there are a few things I enjoy buying in bulk here. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Place is clean and sanitary. Miss the demo's they used to do on the weekends. But the products are always fresh and a pretty good value. We do log our purchases against the account for our church which aids them in points. GFS is a restaurant supplies distributor. Know that what you buy there is generally what some restaurants acquire for their menu and jack up the prices. So, be it a quick, inexpensive heat-them-up emergency meals, or staples like towels, oat meal, etc, GFS is a time and money-saver. I haven't done too much shopping there, but a quick jaunt to the cooler section gets me my staple -- RICOTTA and meat lasagna platter. Not bad for $15 where a household of two can eat for at least 4 meals. read more

Decided to browse around this store while we had some spare time. They sell products in bulk packaging. Now while I am sure the pricing is great on these items they didn't have any gluten free options at all. They actually just had very few food items in general. It just was one brand of each designated item. The store we have like this in California offers some items in smaller packages and fruit you can buy by the piece as opposed to a 5 pound bag. read more

Surprisingly I didn't like this one. I actually liked the one in Villa Park better. I only came to this one because it was a mile closer to my home and not to mention, I wanted to make a quick stop at the mall. I love GFS and what it has to offer but I was not impressed by this one. I usually stock up on my sons football snacks and snacks for the kids at the park and was disappointed when I came to this GFS because I will have to make another trip. I went to Gordon this morning.First thing I walked in door of Gordon store I heard welcome greeting from the gentleman wear glasses on the other corner.That was make me smile.Very nice and professional.Then I shopping spent about $150 at the check out ,OMG horrible cashier service. The mid lady at check out (cashier) acted like I came to ask for free things. #1. The tone of voice she said to me..Box or no box..this was the first sentence I heard. I have a service business too. But I am training me employee.. Do you find anything?...Would you like box?...Would you like help with heavy stuff loading in your car?...Thank you for shoping and see you again... This store is meticulously organized and spotlessly clean. We love shopping here as it is so convenient and we can stock up on paper products, frozen foods, great Mosaic coffee k-cups, and fresh fruit and vegetables. We particularly like the fresh cauliflower and broccoli. Dairy products are usually in containers too large for our household, and many of the canned items are huge. But you can't beat the lunch meat and the frozen food like the lasagne and bags of chicken breasts. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Additional savings come in weekly emails. read more
