I agree with Peter M. I started shopping at Jewelry Plus many years ago when I sought after a nice piece of jewelry for my mother after her mother, my nana, passed away. I happened to work right around the corner and wondered in there after work. Needless to say that I have been going there ever since and have developed a lovely friendship with Tony and his staff. Leo is a brilliant jeweler and has some of the most delicate hands. My wife's engagement ring and wedding band was crafted by Tony and his staff as was my diamond wedding band. Needless to say I will purchase my daughter's jewelry from there as well. Jewelry Plus values their customers and sticks to good old fashioned customer service by making friends with all of their customers. I walked into Jewelry Plus almost 4 years ago while walking down Winter Street during my lunch break desperately looking for a birthday present for my girlfriend at the time. Walking into the store I was met by the owner, Tony, who not only took the time to provide several gift suggestions, but also was willing to carry on a conversation about the outside world with me. I left Jewelry Plus with a present in hand. Fast forward 4 months later I returned to Jewelry Plus as I departed on my journey to find an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I spent almost every lunch break for the next 3 weeks visiting tony to look at different diamonds and settings in stock while he educated me on the value of fine diamonds. I also spent some of this time visiting other jewelry stores in the diamond buildings (down on Washington) to meet other jewelers and perform some price comparison. Ultimately I returned to purchase a beautiful GIA certified diamond from Tony at a great price. Since buying the engagement ring and getting engaged, my fiance and I frequently drop in to say hi to Tony and his staff. Always greated with open arms we've returned to buy watches, earings and other gifts with consistent satisfaction. We are currently in the process on finalizing our wedding bands through Tony and will be a returning customer for life. While I'll agree that DTX has turned into a disaster area, I will say that Jewelry Plus is one of the few honest stores left. The year was 1999! And I was shopping around for the perfect Diamond for my soon to be fiance! After hours upon hours of researching and browsing a number of Jewelry stores in Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts, I decided to expand my search to Boston. Again hours upon hours of research and browsing... I was 22 years old at the time and this was going to be my most expensive and most thoughtful purchase of my entire life to date. I found myself in Boston's Downtown Crossing Area and while eating lunch I received a recommendation to visit Jewelry Plus on Winter Street. When I arrived at Jewelry Plus I was immediately greeted by the Owner Tony. He walked me through the entire purchasing process and taught me everything I needed to know to make an educated purchase for what was the most import purchase of my life at the time. He had in stock a stunning diamond that was the perfect diamond at what turned out to be an amazing price. There was zero pressure from Tony for me to make the purchase. I remember to this date how extremely respectful he was and how he went out of his way to make me feel completely comfortable and confident that this was the right ring for my soon to be fiance. He handled the appraisal for me and made the entire process very painless. At the time being so young and the amount of money I was spending and now here we are 13 years later, I still wasn't 100% sure things were as seemed- Until Today- October 25th 2012! My wife and I for insurance purposes had to get the ring reappraised! We ended up going to a local independent appraisal company here in Southern New Hampshire. The appraiser was stunned by the quality of the diamond and every single detail that Tony presented to me 13 years ago was confirmed. In fact, the price that I payed for the diamond turned out to be about $2,500.00 less than she felt the ring was worth back in 1999! She could not believe the deal that I was able to get on this ring and thinking back on the entire experience I had with Jewelry Plus and with Tony directly, I could not be more satisfied as a consumer. I actually called Tony today to once again THANK him and his upbeat professionalism shined as I remembered from years ago! I have bought a lovely and distinctive pendant from Jewelry Plus, and had them do repairs on my engagement ring. I was very happy both times. It was quite clear to me that I was shopping among estate or second hand jewelry when I selected the pendant. It was, in fact, one of the reasons I went - I wanted something distinctive and different for a very unique gift - not something that everybody else would be wearing! I strongly advise anyone against going there. We bought a wedding ring there for my husband. When we got home and had a closer look at the ring (it was a thin gold band) we discovered that it was USED!!! It had an engraving with a name and date. The ring was from 1948! They had made us believe the ring is new, however. When we called they just said they also have new stuff if we prefer something new. We went there in person and said we would like a refund but did not even get one. They offered to exchange the ring, but we prefer not to do any business with them anymore. read more
