we got my now wifes engagement ring here. we were looking for a specific brand and they just so…read morehappened to carry it. having never even looked at engagement rings in person yet this experience was great and fun. they were super responsive via email when my wife was asking questions before we went in. when we did finally go in they remembered her and were ready to go with the items we were looking for. they didnt push us to spend above what we wanted or make us change our mind. they made us feel like the decisions we were making were the right ones because they were the ones we wanted to make. they also answered all our questions and follow up questions that we had when we got the ring. they overall made the experience one we will always look back on and have great memories of. the only reason i wouldnt give them a 5 star rating is the box we got with the ring wasnt exactly what we would have liked. it didnt feel as special as we thought we would have got and we werent the biggest fan of the chocolate brown box for the engagement ring. wished we could have had some say in that. other than that though i wouldnt hesitate to go back here and make another purchase.

I cannot say enough good things about Artelle and the wonderful Stuart and Ellie who own and…read moreoperate it. The short version: amazing customer service, very personable, expert craftmanship with difficult requests with platinum jewelry, all done in a super fast turn around time (like less than two weeks for modifying and making major fixes to four rings). Long version: I came into their shop with a laundry list of repairs and modifications to do to a number of rings, including two platinum rings and a VERY old family ring. Ellie is an absolute dear and even talking to her for a couple minutes makes it feel like you're talking to an old friend. She is so empathetic and sweet. Really just a darling and it's a joy to talk to her every time. Stuart is clearly an expert in his craft. Sometimes you can just tell when someone has really honed their skills in a particular area, not by telling you how experienced they are, but by simply demonstrating deft expertise and earned confidence; that's Stuart. He was so precise in looking over my rings and identifying the problems that I would have never known were there (basically all the accent stones on my engagement ring were loose in addition to one that had fallen out). He was able to explain the sort of work that needed to be done to my ring and explain why in clear terms that made me feel very comfortable and confident that he was really going to take care of my ring. He is not shy about telling you if something is poorly made or not structurally sound lol But I appreciated the candor because I knew the ring would be better off after his work. One of the items on my list was modifying my platinum wedding band that I had gotten made custom through another company and wasn't terribly happy with it. We discussed what a custom design process through Artelle would look like and I know that when I eventually get a new band made that fits my original vision better than what I got, that he will be able to make it happen. In just a couple minutes of discussing the ideas I had and what I wanted, it was clear that he could see the vision I had and would be able to make that a reality. But until such a time as I can commission that, he was able to make some modifications to my existing wedding band to help the design flow better and be more comfortable. I had thought it was a long shot to ask for the sort of modifications I did to the band but he made it work and it looks sooo much better now. One thing that gave me great confidence in Artelle is Stuart and Ellie were clearly not trying to upsell me on services or trying to get money out of me. I had also brought in an older gold ring with a center peridot that has basically never been maintained (old family ring). When talking about trying to clean and polish the ring, reshape, etc Stuart was pretty clear that it would cost more to try to polish the stone than buying a whole new center stone would cost because of its fragile nature. He had said that it could be done, but that it was expensive and probably not worth it outside of sentimental reasons. I was very appreciative that they didn't just say a simple "Sure, we can do that" and quote me the price without explaining the process of what would have had to be done. I tend to trust places that are honest in saying a service that would make them money is not worth the expense to me, the customer. Finally, I had another very old family ring that had never been maintained. As he was examining it, he was able to give me information about the ring that I never knew, like the rough age of the center diamond and the likely time period the ring was made due some details he spotted while examining it that clued towards very old crafting methods. So that was super cool. He touched up the worn-down setting and polished everything up so it looks unrecognizable now after 50+ years of tarnish and daily wear to suddenly glowing and looking new again. It meant a lot that he treated this ring with the utmost care and had warned me of its fragility as well after constant wear without ever having gotten maintenance. I wish I had taken pictures of the ring before I brought it in because it's quite the transformation! So overall, 11/10 would recommend.

Johantgen Jewelers worst work ethics and customer service!…read more Brought in my Citizen Capri watch for repair to Johantgen Jewelers in Crystal, MN. It had stopped working and I had replaced the battery. In the process the hands had fallen off. My fault. I dropped the watch off with the instructions to reattach the hands. A few days later when the watch was returned to me: 1. One of the hands was completely missing. 2. I was told the watch was no longer working. 3. The dial number indicators at 1:00 and 3:00 were missing altogether! 4. The stopwatch feature now zeroed to the 3:00 position rather than the 12:00 position. 5. The second hand no longer ticked at the 7:00 through 12:00 second indicator marks on the dial. I returned the watch to Johantgen Jewelers and was told it would cost another $200 in addition to the $35 I had already spent for the original repair! The owner of Johantgen Jewelers is also the watch repair guy. He proceeded to try and lay all of the blame on me for the list of issues that he himself had caused. He became very upset and defensive when I stood my ground, and started yelling at me that it wasn't his responsibility to correct the issues that arose while the watch was in his care. He obviously knows very little about watches, nor how to repair them. He then hung up on me in a rage. I will be contacting the BBB in an effort to protect others from this type of manipulation.

I found this place online and went in on a Friday afternoon. They were just opening so most of the jewelry was still in the vault. The owner, Ann, asked what I was looking for and I told her a vague idea. She went into the vault, pulled out a ring and said "Like this?". I kid you not, after looking at hundreds of rings, she got it right on the first try. There it was. Exactly what I wanted and under budget. I actually really wanted diamonds and sapphires but didn't mention that at first because it was hard to find. This ring had diamonds and sapphires! It's like she read my mind! Now, it seemed too good to be true so I put a few rings on hold and came back twice to see if she found anything else. Every time I went right back to that ring. She finally said I just had to face the fact that I finally found it. Everyone at the store was so nice and I had SO much fun talking antique jewelry and looking at their collections. It was THE BEST experience and I wish I could hang out there all the time. However, I would come home with more jewelry than my bank account would like. The best customer service. Fair pricing! Amazing selection for any budget. The store is smaller but don't let that fool you. They really just want to help you find the ring of your dreams no matter what your budget is.
