We work with master gardeners and designers so we don't generally hire LJ for landscaping. The total paid to LJ including labor and supplies was approx $30,000. Many of the projects were completed to our delight, some to our satisfaction, and most recently we noticed a slip in quality. Overall we recommend LJ. And would suggest Ro anyone engaging them to walk everything down - grading, elevation, proper footing, dimensions, methods TWICE. Go over everything twice. Make sure you are on the same page and that the final intended put-through end result is CLEAR. I called several other companies that never returned my call. Donta was responsive and extremely professional answering all of my questions. Naj did a wonderful job at creating a design based on my list of "must haves" and my husband and I were impressed with the results. They were meticulous with the details and followed up for our feedback. This is our second project with them. The first job was clearing out our backyard and completing a full paver installation. The plumbing company left a mess, damaging our tree, crushing bushes, and leaving big pile of dirt in the yard. We called Ridley's. They came out promptly for an estimate, and once we said yes, they came out promptly and did an amazing job. They did so well that our neighbor was watching them work and hired them on the spot to do some grading in his yard. For the grass, they offered us the option of doing sod or seed. We went with the seed, so the (after) picture just shows the straw, but we anticipate having a beautiful lawn next summer. They were highly professional, worked hard, and simply got the job done as it should be done. We talked to another company that seemed cheaper, but they didn't give me the confidence that Donta gave me, and now that the job is done, I can say that confidence was well placed.

I told him and asked him to come back and complete the job and he said it's normal for the weeds to come back and that a lot of his customers have him weed on a monthly basis... maybe a weed here or there, but I paid well for weeding and mulching to eradicate weeds and this was not our arrangement. Did not seem to understand that to keep weeds from growing back, he should have put down weed mat or sprayed - he did not do either and did not raise either as 'extra'. So, $300 for these areas and 2 weeks later it looks like my yard bed is heading back to where we started. Spraying here and there is reasonable as a homeowner, but as a landscaping company, I expected better service and more knowledge. He told me he did his job well and isn't coming back. I wanted to give a chance for someone to come back and correct, but he said no, so I want to leave an honest review for other yelp users looking for a similar project.

We decided to get a quote from Rhine after they did a good job with tree maintenance/ removal and…read moreafter our neighbors recommended them. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. We paid $900 up front for the design document for a screened in porch and paver patio. Rhine doesn't provide design documents as part of the quote. You need to pay for it. Honestly the design document was nothing special; It was a 2D computer generated drawing, which I doubt could have taken the designer more than a day to develop. Also, we were told that we could use the design document with other contractors, but the document didn't include dimensions or measurements. Ultimately we didn't get a lot of value out of the design document, and we consider it a wasted expense. (Thank goodness we didn't pay the full rate of $1,800 for the design document!) Additionally, it took us several attempts to meet with the designer. He was a no-show for our first meeting (he had a personal emergency, which is understandable), but then it took several emails to land on a new appointment time. He was then late to the rescheduled appointment. We also requested design revisions via email, and we had to follow up several times to get an acknowledgment of our request, with additional follow up needed to actually get the revised version back. Finally, the quoted rate for our project compared to local competition was simply outrageous. The project cost range was about 1.5-3 times more expensive than quotes we got from other vendors. Additionally, other vendors provided 3D design renders at no cost as part of their quote. We asked what was the explanation for such a high quote: did this include all premium materials? We were told that the quote included standard materials, and that if we wanted to choose custom / premium materials, the price would go up from there. My sense was that the scope of the project was too small for them, so they quoted us something outrageous so we wouldn't go with them. But if that's the case, the business owner should have been up front with us that they only take on bigger projects before taking $900 for what wound up being a lackluster design document. Overall, we felt that we got little value from our quote process, compounded by lack of professionalism and lack of respect for our time with regard to our interaction with Rhine. If you own a multimillion dollar home and you have deep pockets then maybe Rhine will be more suited to your purposes. But it seems that Rhine is in a different market than smaller jobs for regular suburban homes in and around Ellicott City.

I setup an appointment with the other contractor and they no-call no-showed. I'm glad they did, because Jon contacted me a few days later apologizing for the delayed response on Yelp and asked if I could continue the conversation via email(hence my original note in this review). There was a princess tree or something of that nature that sprouted up last year and needed to go as it was getting out of control, my wife wanted weeds removed, washed rocks, and peonies in front. In the back we also finally decided to finish our walkway with flagstone. Jon was great to work with, responding to both texts and emails for verifications and changes throughout the process and pricing was competitive. Very happy with the end result and how quickly Jon and his team were able to finish everything. I highly recommend Bio Rich Green Care and I am looking forward to working with them in the future.

Yes I've texted him numerous times every time he says Yep, he'll have it to me next week. Yeah you'll have it to me this week. Yes it's coming and it never comes. It never ever comes so. It's just so sad because I did really like him when I met him and I do not have a very good good experiences history with contractors and I thought he was different but of course I think every single person I hire is different right I'm just a complete fool. I do not recommend this company. Maybe if you know you have $150,000 job maybe you'll get better attention I don't know.
