While waiting on a tow from Advance Auto Parts to get my car serviced, I realized that I was starving and bored of sitting in my car so I decided to head over to JG Chicken & Seafood. Although the exterior wasn't calling my name, the online menu and Yelp reviews let me know that it was worth the quick walk over to kill some time. Upon entry, JG looks like a seafood spot. Nothing too special or fancy, but it got the job done. There were over a dozen tables and booths inside, more than enough seating for hungry patrons. When I visited, there was a party of about 5 people, a group of 3 on their way out and a pair sitting inside eating lunch. The menu offers a variety of fried seafood options, wings, desserts and more - a little something for everyone. Prices weren't super cheap for the combos, it was actually interesting because they were all $15 or so across the board with very little variation, lol. The seafood dinners on their own were a few bucks less, pretty reasonable. I opted to keep it light as I knew I shouldn't be loading up on fried food and went with the 3 wing kid's meal with fries, coleslaw and a soda. In less than 10 minutes my number was called and my order was ready. Let me say - it was delicious! My meal was hot and fresh out of the fryer which was perfect because I decided to sit down there and eat. The fries were a big surprise as they were thick with a little extra batter, not soggy in any way and delicious. My wings? Fabulous. I opted for seasoning and their special seasoning was more lemon peppery than expected, but I loved it. The wings were perfectly fried, moist and a great portion. The gentleman who took my order was also extremely helpful and welcoming, definitely a great customer service experience. All in all, I'm glad I decided to wait for my tow truck here and happy I got a great meal while I did so! read more

Once I canceled they charged me the full amount. It's pretty good. I ordered via Grub Hub for dinner last night and the fish was nicely flavored and the jumbo shrimp were delicious. I think you have to order additional sides separately, including okra or coleslaw, which I'm not really accustomed to doing but I understand that now. Everything has a good corn meal batter, just like grandmas. The fries are really good. They arent the nasty frozen crinkle fries everybody else has. They also cooked and served our food fairly quick. The coleslaw was a good size and it tastes like KFC coleslaw. Now that lemonade... THAT MF LEMONADE BABY! Ima just say get the cotton candy lemonade if you want to! This place is down the street literally and I have been driving past it for months. We decided to order some fried catfish nuggets and shrimp for dinner last Friday night and it was very good! DON'T GO!!! Terrible customer service. We placed our orders as you see on the receipt. We waited an hour and when we noticed that people were leaving that came in after us we approached the counter. I asked did you call us and the cashier says "That's not my job." In shock I say excuse me. We asked for a manager from another employee he said well if y'all didn't hear her that's not our problem. They would not give us a manager name. When we walked in he was arguing with another customer. The receipt says Matt but the cashier was a white female at the counter says "I know it was them but that's not my job." This not our first time having a bad customer service experience. Hubby and I stopped by while we were in the area! So the place was relatively clean... some of the tables needed some attention. The two ladies at the register were nice. You could tell one of them was in training. But we kept them laughing... our dood was prepared fresh so the problem I have and reason k had to take off one star was because of the lack of attention to detail. My husband ordered 3 pc tilapia and since I had already eaten and wasn't hungry I just decided to add one piece of catfish to his order. Here's the issue... usually and I'm sure is the case here establishments charge more for catfish. Which I don't mind IF O ACTUALLY GET CATFISH!!! They gave our food to us with all the fish being talapia. I guess either they didn't pay attention or decides to do what they wanted and thought or hoped that we wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Well I'm here to tell you I CAN DEFINITELY tell and was DEFINITELY disappointed! Because I do not care for talapia at all this was my one and only complaint! First visit since opening was great! Food was very hot and fresh. Customer service was excellent! Go for the food, skip the dessert. Ordered Swai 3 piece meal, Whiting meal, Banana pudding, and sweet potato pie. Swai was delicious! Perfectly fried and well seasoned. Excellent option for people who want fish that doesn't have a "fishy" taste. A meal comes with fries, bread and a small cup of coleslaw. I personally loved the fries as they were delicious large, thick, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside fries. Fans of thin and/or crisp fries may want another option. Whiting was okay, maybe it was just because we ate it right after the swai, which was excellent, that nothing could live up to it. Whiting was well cooked and seasoned but it's fried with the skin on so it does have a pretty "fishy" taste. Should have completely passed on the desserts. Banana pudding/fluff is just whipped topping mixed with pudding mix and has a few bananas spottily mixed in and also has mini marshmallows and is covered in a layer of vanilla wafers. I wasn't a fan of the whipped topping, I love a good thick pudding. Sweet potato pie was a slice of frozen manufactured pie. It was good for a store bought pie but you'd be better off swinging by Walmart and getting yourself a whole frozen Patti LaBelle pie. Service was good and even though it was busy with a fairly long line, things moved quickly and the service was great. The only small negative blip from a service perspective was the fact that we had to ask for tartar sauce and then after asking, with 2 large meals purchased, we were given only 2 of the tiniest cups of tartar sauce I've ever seen. My daughter and I went for lunch last Monday. I'm a restaurant owner my self so I was exited to support. We go out to eat on most Mondays. When I tell you it was a waste of $26. The chicken livers aren't seasoned at all. The corn nuggets were cooked to hard with no flavor. My daughter had the shrimp and fries. It had much more flavor and was crispy. Customer service was better in the form of pleasantries. They do still have some work to do though. I get that white bread with fish is a thing, but it's still straight from the bag and this time it was stale. The prices are still a little high. They need to pay more attention to dining area.
