Nobody contacted me before my appointment the next day at 11 am to tell me they were having problems with their machines. When I walked in, M told me that a machine had problems and they could not do the tire rotation. She could have called me or emailed me the day before or anytime before 11am to let me know, to give me the option of canceling, which I would have. Since I was already there I told her to do the alignment and she agreed I could return later for the free tire rotation. Then AFTER the "alignment" was completed, she stated that they couldn't do a complete alignment because one of the four adjustments had to be done a the dealer. She showed me the sheet of the items completed, and the ones which were not. It seems to me that they would known, or could look up the model, in advance, which adjustment required a dealer to complete since this is an ALIGNMENT shop. As I left the shop I could tell immediately that the van shuddered far WORSE after the partial alignment, especially when I braked !!! The steering wheel jiggled even when going straight. So I had paid $150 and the van drives much worse. So now I have to go to a dealer, and pay for a complete alignment and tire rotation. Not to mention the time I wasted. A few days later I took it to Rick Hendrick and had the van tires rotated and aligned. They charged me about $160.00. It drives much smoother. Certainly if I knew it wouldn't be getting a complete alignment at Mavis, I would never have agreed to it. Its like agreeing to a partial appendectomy. It doesn't solve the problem. I paid $150 and for that I got an incomplete alignment and no tire rotation. I feel ripped off and feel I deserve a full refund. I did contact them and never got a response.

So I pull in and Aurora the store manager take a look at my oil level level because I wanted to get a second opinion before I just added oil and added too much and of course, my oil was low extremely low and she helped me Get it back to normal, which that is not something they normally do but right now I'm struggling I need for brand new tires I mean heck at this point I would take even worn out tires cause mine are beyond worn out, but I'm homeless and I'm door dashing as much as possible and I just haven't been able to get ahead to be able to get tires and I just cashed out of my DoorDash just to put enough gas in my car which left me three dollars in my account which is not enough to buy a quart of oil so she truly helped me out with a quart of oil Top in my oil often getting it back to normal so I don't blow up my car and I am so thankful that she extended the extra care and concern to help me. It means a lot there aren't people out there who do care and I guess I need needed that Today because I've been discouraged about the other bills that I have to pay so she truly helped me out so much I get the store and Location five stars all the way across the board they didn't have to do that but she did and it means a lot to me and she knows a little bit about preventive care too so it's kind of good to have another girl know a little bit about cars Because I've been struggling with mine ever since my dad passed away a year ago so Aurora if you're reading this, thank you so much you made my day you save my car and I definitely will be back. Mavis tires should not lose you ever they need to keep you on board and clone you and send you out to the Decatur locations which is not so great over there. The Mavis in Decatur tried to get over on me and I felt coming here that was not any bit of any intention of trying to get over on me so when I do have to get tires, I will be coming to Mavis here on marathon Way. Never had as many problems just trying to get a reasonably accurate estimate from any auto repair shop as this one. The process with four other shops I checked out for the same repairs using same description went smoothly, so not sure why it was so difficult for RNJ. Needed a simple headlight replacement, installation of a new combo meter (circuit board that displays speedometer and odometer), and a quote for an engine swap on a Prius. The woman who provided a two hour quote for the combo meter, Nancy J., didn't know what one was - which is understandable - but apparently couldn't be bothered to look it up. On July 15 promised to get me a quote on the engine swap the next day, then almost two weeks later (July 27) said still didn't have it. Rather than being somewhat apologetic for not following up as promised, her reply was seething with sarcasm. Things rarely turn out well, in my experience, when a company is this careless and puts someone who doesn't understand the fundamentals of customer service as your first point of contact. It's not uncommon for these companies to exercise poor judgment in other aspects of the business as well. Bottom line: Service leaves much to be desired and prices not very competitive. Too many shops out there who are eager to earn your business and extremely capable to put up with this level of carelessness and sarcasm. Is this shop better than a dealership as mentioned in several of the positive reviews? Sure. But that's setting the bar really low. The reason I decided to go to them is that a friend has been using them for a while to repair her older Honda Accord, and they always treated her right. I saw a review by someone else bashing them for lack of service, but I happen to know that a couple of members of their family had some heath struggles a while back, and with this being a family owned and operated business, that was unfortunate and difficult. My guess is that this person got impacted by that, which is a shame, but I can say without question, that it was unusual, and not the way that this business is run. They are honest, and reliable, and that is not only uncommon these days, but it is of great importance! I will continue to do business with them.
