I was greeted by service tech…read moreMalik by what I needed, I told him a synthetic oil change and the he immediately started selling me on wipers (I just replaced last month). He then suggested to replace a couple of air filters which I just replaced back in Feb and did not look that dirty. He seemed very unhappy about not selling me anything. Then after changing my synthetic oil he hands me the new sticker which only had 3,000 miles until the next oil change, not the normal 5,000 miles. When I asked about it he said it wasn't that big of a deal. That's just what the system recommended. I asked to speak to a manager. Then Brandon (the manager) appeared and I informed him my concerns about the sticker to remind me for the next oil change was only 3,000, not the normal 5,000 for using synthetic oil. He said that Valvoline had changed the system at the first of the year 2026. I pointed out that my last oil change was in February 2026 and was good for 5,000 miles?? He had no explanation and told him that lying about the information I brought up wasn't appropriated. When I looked up how many miles synthetic oil should be replaced I found out that the mileage should last 7,500 to 10,000 miles. I find it very sad that Valvoline would hire people of low integrity. I have lost trust in this company and they are hiring people of low morale integrity.

Rico is the primary maintenance technician that I've come in contact with. The first time I visited, he got me in and it took only 5 minutes to get the oil changed. I've been to other locations and I'm there for 45 minutes or more. Rico never over tops the oil and only puts in the correct amount. Yes, the price is quite expensive, but you don't want cheap going into your car because you might be without a car. In this day and age, it's best that you have a car. I feel like I get my money's worth. I've gotten my cabin filter and more coolant changed here. I know I could get it elsewhere cheaper, but I will not remember to do that once I leave even though I would always tell myself that I am. Rico, he is the man that you can trust. I was surprised he even remembered me from my last visit. My car runs smoother because of Take 5 Research Forest!

So to get to the point, there was nothing wrong with our vehicle after Dillon looked at it, they let me know what I could do at the house to address the issue and I left with a smile. I showed up stressed out after dealing with an oil pressure issue overnight on my Ram 1500. I got there right at 7:30 when they opened, and before I could even finish parking, a guy named Elijah comes walking straight out with a smile, like he's been waiting for me all morning. I told him what was going on, oil pressure all over the place, worried it was something serious, and he just said, "Don't worry, man. We'll take care of you." And he actually meant it. No corporate script, no fake friendliness, just a guy who clearly knows cars and actually gives a damn. He walked me through everything, what oil they use, why they use it, what filter they were putting on, even checked my air filter and fluids without once trying to upsell me like every other oil place on earth. (You know the kind, the ones who act like your transmission's about to explode if you don't buy their $79.99 "Performance Package.") Not here. Elijah showed me my air filter, topped off my coolant and wiper fluid, and didn't try to sell me anything unnecessary. In fact, he was so genuine that when he mentioned wiper blades, which I actually needed, I bought them without hesitation. That's how you know a guy's honest, when you want to spend money with him. The shop itself is small from the outside, but don't let that fool you, they've got serious equipment and even better attitudes. It's clean, organized, and clearly run by people who take pride in what they do. I'm not even from Houston (I'm up in Dallas), but after this experience, I might just start timing my oil changes for when I'm down here on business. Seriously. I was going to go to Take 5 down the street, but the reviews there read like a horror story, people claiming they didn't even change the oil, just topped it off. Dodged a bullet. Elijah, man, you crushed it. You made what's usually a chore feel like catching up with a friend who happens to be really good at cars.
