I needed to get an emissions inspection done in order to register my car after recently moving back to Texas. I initially went to a nearby mechanic shop called Take Five, but the line was quite long. After waiting about 10-15 minutes with no movement, I decided to look for another option in the area and found this Jiffy Lube. When I arrived, there were only a couple of cars in the bay, so the wait was minimal. As soon as I pulled in, I was greeted by a very friendly staff member who directed me into the bay and then showed me to the waiting area. The waiting area has chairs (no tables), and there is Wi-Fi available, which was a nice touch. The emissions test itself took about 15 minutes and costs $18.50. Another staff member checked me out, printed my receipt, let me know that everything passed, and even walked me out to my car. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional, and the service was quick and efficient. They also offer oil changes (synthetic costs $110+tax), which are a bit more expensive compared to deals you might find on Groupon. That said, if you need an emissions or inspection test done, I would definitely recommend this Jiffy Lube location for its speedy service and friendly staff. read more

We took our car in after it was vibrating. They performed a check. We were told it was the spark plugs. We were short on time so let them replace them for $300. Five minutes after leaving, the car was shaking again. We were quoted another $200 to fix what they said they fixed. The manager was very nice, but refused to recognize that his mechanic charged us for something and didn't do the work. I stopped by after to chat with the manager, which I believe is important before posting poor reviews. They definitely do not guarantee their work. A complete waste of time and money. I've been coming here for a few oil changes in the last couple of years and I've been extremely satisfied. The people working here are quick and helpful with any questions you have. They're honest and will give you their opinion on what could be done now and what could wait. Jiffy Lube always sends coupons in the mail and it makes it worth it. Coupons range from 15% off to sometime 20$ off oil changes and more. They do check your car for service and give you recommended service inspection for the car. So happy that now I can get my car serviced as well. Recently got a rear differential service and was happy with the work. The guys that work here are all professional and clean. The car gets vacuumed and you can come back for complimentary fluid top off service on vital fluids with their signature oil purchase. Rodney, Ernest and Abian are absolutely fantastic. I randomly picked this location(when I moved here a few months ago) to have my car serviced and they have always been great. However, recently they went above and beyond. I brought my car in a week ago to make sure everything was okay and asked if I needed to replace my brakes. Instead of making up a service I didn't need(I wouldn't have known the difference), they explained that everything was okay and when to bring the car back. Until now, I'm not sure I've ever had much trust in any mechanic! I was floored at the honesty and gave the mechanic who looked at it $40 for being truthful and doing the right thing. I'm not sure how long I will live in Houston, but I will not go to any other mechanic as long as I do. I've even sent a few friends their way. Thank you very much! read more

I went in for a simple oil change a few weeks ago and not only was it incredibly cheap, but the people who were working there were very very kind and professional. I was having a busy day and so I brought my dog in with me and on this day it was particularly cold, and unlike most businesses they allowed me to sit inside with my dog so that I would stay warm. They were very quick and professional, and on top of that they showed my dog tons of love and attention. Do yourself a favor - take your car to a place you know and trust. On November 8th, I took my BMW in for an oil change. Unfortunately it never drove out of the shop. The technician forgot to put oil back in my car. He blew my engine right there in the shop. At the time of the incident, he admitted fault. After 4.5 weeks of back and forth with their insurance company, they have denied responsibility. Unfortunately i now have a car that has been rendered useless. Next step, small claims court. It's really disappointing Jiffy Lube. It would have been really easy for you guys to do the right thing, as your store manager suggested you would. read more

This has got to be the best Jiffy Lube I've ever been to. I was looking to get my car inspected along with an oil change and was calling around other JL locations to see what their wait time was on a Wednesday afternoon. While this one was a bit further than I'd like to have driven, it was worth it. Upon pulling up to the bay, a gentleman by the name of Rodney greeted us. He opened the car door for not only me, but my kiddo and her cousin. Rodney asked what I needed done and then he led us to where the waiting room was. Not only was the waiting room spotless, but there was also the opportunity to see your car being worked on without having to get up. Obviously, it was not something I went there specifically for, but it was interesting to watch. Before the oil change began, Rodney called me outside to explain what needed to be done in the near future, such as air filters and the like. I simply asked for the basic oil change and inspection. The whole interaction from beginning to end was great. I've never had such great customer service from a Jiffy Lube location. Not to mention, both services only took 30-45 minutes total. There is a Jiffy Lube in River Oaks, as well as one on Westheimer & Gessner. I will continue going to those locations, and you should consider passing this location up and going to one of those instead, my fellow yelpers. I typically roll into one of the two Jiffy Lube locations that I mentioned above whenever my tire pressure light comes on. Being a single woman, I would always vouch for JL, and recommend this option to my single friends whenever their tire pressure gives them issues. Well, this past Saturday, I noticed that my light was on and I was close to this location so I rolled in. The young blonde girl basically looked at me with a blank face when I told her that I was just rolling in to get my tire pressure adjusted. She told me they DO NOT PERFORM THIS SERVICE. I found this strange, since I have even pulled into Jiffy Lubes in Louisiana and got my tire pressure corrected. She unapologetically turned me away, so I went to the Jiffy Lube I should have gone to in the first place, the on on Gessner. Within about 5 minutes, that location had me rolling again with my tire pressure light off. I came here because they were open on a Sunday morning, able to do an inspection for registration renewal, and their emissions testing machine actually worked. Not the case with the Pep Boys or Autozone nearby. Apparently my light bulb for my rear license plate was out. So I failed the test. They tried to fix it for me but couldn't wrangle it out of the socket. So I did it and brought it back the same day. Easy peasy. While I was waiting, they were offering me free coffee and cold water, and their chairs are actually comfortable. They also gave me a $10 off coupon for my next oil change. First of all, the Crews in Jiffy Lube is knowledgeable, they know what kind of engine oil is for my car and just that alone best out most auto service in my city, the price is reasonable and offered me military discount without me asking for it, and during the service the crew checked and fixed while showing me everything wrong about my car, cleaned and vacuumed my car and pumped tire for me as well for free after oil change, I can tell these people who are genuinely love the honest work they are doing and proud of what they are doing, hard to find people like them nowadays. A new find for me, as I normally use the Jiffy Lube closer to home. This is a great location, easy to get to and close to work! I called and spoke with Nikohl to find out an estimated wait time, as I had a cancellation in the office. She let me know how many cars were there, and about how long it would take (of course, depending on what came in between the time I called and arrived). I took a chance, zipped on over and was pleasantly surprised. They completed all of the Signature Oil Change with vacuum, window wash, etc. - found a bulb that was out, and got my vehicle completed in about 15-20 minutes. Arrive at Jiffy lube and was greeted by a friendly young lady. I ask to have an inspection on my Chevy Avalanche and she told me to leave it where I was parked and this guy come flying thru the parking lot like he was upset but she said they were testing the the vehicle and they would be doing my vehicle the same. My inspection failed due to emergency brakes not holding so I had to get it fix and had 15 days to bring it back or lose the money I paid. My issue is that Jiffy Lube is a franchise and I cannot take it to another one to have it inspected and not be charged for the inspection. Overall this facility was very friendly and did not try to sale me something I did not need. Brought truck back to Jiffy Lube for an inspection on my brakes after having Brake Check do some work on my brakes but they wanted another $400 but I just needed my emergency brakes to pass inspection. The guy who inspected my truck the first time came over and check on it and said another guy had to give it the okay . I remember a time when all I had to do was turn on my left and right turn signal, press on the breaks and turn on my wipers and I had my inspection sticker. I went there this past Sunday to get my oil changed. Typical normal quick oil change place. Lots of pushiness to upsell different options. Normally I'm good about saying no to them, but someone else who was there at the same time was being told they needed their tires rotated and transmission flushed every oil change. I was in a rush and didn't think much of it. However, as I was driving later that day I noticed that my nice Leatherman knife which always sits in my center console and never goes anywhere outside of my car was conspicuously missing. Now, I'm not saying it was stolen by the people at this establishment but I'm incredibly suspicious. It's safe to say I won't be returning and will be going elsewhere in the future. read more

Soon after I was seated and offered coffee, I was approached by a woman who took me through the process of ordering the services I wanted. She was friendly and clearly knowledgeable. At the very end, after my vehicle was completed, the man pulled it out front and managed to get the dashboard change oil light off. My car is old and I wouldn't have doubted if this was just a car malfunction but he kept at it even when I told him he didn't have to worry about it. Then he shook my hand and I was on my way. I went to this Jiffy Lube in southwest Houston this afternoon to use a Groupon I had for an oil change and to get a annual state inspection done on my car. I usually change the oil and perform service and repair on my own cars because I have a lift and all the tools to do almost any job and I have seen enough problems come out of repair shops that I hesitate to trust most places unless I have to. They pulled my Infiniti G35 into the service bay, opened the hood and had me come out to point out a few things that they wanted to go over with me. The Groupon I had covered the standard oil and filter and they gave me the hard sell about why I needed the high mileage oil. I built a few motors when I was younger and have maintained machinery my whole life and it is my opinion that the high mileage oil is nothing more than a marketing gimmick to coax a few more dollars out of your wallet. I declined the high mileage oil and the next thing she was adamant about was that I needed a new air filter. I installed a new air filter about 5,000 miles ago and she even had the filter box open where you could see the filter. It was only VERY slightly dusty and was far from needing replacement. I think it embarrassed her when I called her out on it judging from the look on her face. She also pointed out that my coolant overflow bottle was low, which was correct, but they wanted $5.99 a quart to fill it and I'm sure they would have put as much in as physically possible for that price. All this would have been okay as I expect to get the hard sell when I go to an oil change place (it's why I usually avoid them), but where things really got ugly is when she failed my car on the state inspection for the parking brake not holding enough. After I walked out, I set the parking brake and while you could overpower it with the engine, it was working properly in my opinion. The parking brake is only made to keep the car from rolling and you can overpower it on almost any car by giving it a little bit of throttle. I took it to another reputable shop about 15 minutes later that I checked out on Yelp first and asked them to look at the parking brake. Their mechanic went out and started the car and tested the parking brake and came in to tell us that there was nothing wrong with it. I went ahead and told them to do a state inspection on it even though I could have gone to Jiffy Lube and had in reinspected for free because they wanted me to fix something that wasn't broken. I took my freshly passed car and the paperwork to prove it back to Jiffy Lube to let them know I wasn't happy and the manager essentially gave me the brush off and told me he wasn't willing to give me a refund. I intend to file a formal complaint tomorrow with the Texas Department of Public Safety. If you're not car savvy, stay far away from this place because they will try to convince you you need a bunch of expensive services that you probably don't need. I have documentation to prove everything if anyone is a skeptic. UPDATE: I met with the Texas Department of Public Safety official that oversees this Jiffy Lube and several other service stations in the area. he got in my car and tested the parking brake and determined that it was in good working order. He called the shop to ask them to refund my money but made it clear that he couldn't make them give me a refund. I drove back down to the Jiffy Lube and the manager refunded what I paid for the state inspection. While I am glad he agreed to give me a refund when he probably could have told me to pound sand, I did have to spend a lot of time, gas, phone calls, etc to get the mess they created straightened out. While it was only about $42, I was more interested in making a point since I feel that they treated me unfairly. read more

My biggest issue with my visit was more so the lady working inside . She was very rude , unfriendly and unhappy . She seemed annoyed by everyone . I always go to Jiffy Lube for my oil changes and I'm pretty much always pleased. Today was my first time at this particular Jiffy Lube and it was a nice one. Clean, efficient, professional. I like that they don't pressure you to buy things; they just suggest and if you say no, they leave it alone. I also like that they clean your windows, vacuum your floors, and air your tires. On a Friday at lunch time, this location was pretty busy, but I think they handled it well. read more
