I called Midas less than an hour before closing, and they told me to come right in. They had me back on the road in about an hour! Tyler was incredibly kind, informative, and genuinely seemed to be looking for the quickest and most affordable way to get me safely back on the road. He replaced the spark plugs first and test drove the car to make sure that was the issue before having me spend money on new coils. Thankfully, I didn't need the coils! He helped get my bill under $400 and applied my military discount. They also did a complimentary fuel induction service. He also made me a whole pot of coffee, let me wait inside with my dog, and even walked me out to my car and opened the doors for me because my hands were full I really appreciated his honesty, kindness, and willingness to help me find the most affordable solution. If you go to Midas, ask for Tyler!

I brought it to Midas because they offer free evaluations, and I was curious what they would find. The outside looked unkempt and run-down. The manager greeted me when I walked in and was friendly. He got the car right in. The other place wanted $1400 to replace the mufflers, flanges, and pipes all the way back to the catalytic converters. The waiting area was filthy. One of the mechanics came in from the shop, walking slowly, spent some time in the bathroom, came out, looked at the vending machine, and went back into the shop. About a minute later, the same guy slowly walked back in again, looked at the vending machine again, and walked back out. He did this 3 times! I didn't get the impression that he was eager to do much work. As the car was getting ready to be lifted up, I went to the bay just to thank the man for looking at it. He didn't even reply. The manager looked at me and said, "Well, you don't have to sit there and watch him. Just kidding." I was sure he was not, and equally sure that I had not planned on watching the man work, even though this is my own vehicle. The manager seemed short and inconvenienced by me the rest of the time. The mechanic looked it over and showed me that the exhaust flange was leaking. I noticed the other one was leaking as well, and he said, "Oh, yeah. That one is bad, too, I guess." I asked him if he could cut the flanges out and weld in a pipe on each side, and he quickly said, "No, we don't do that." He seemed very shaky and nervous. I mentioned to the manager that I remember that they used to do exhaust work, and he said, "We still do." He said that they could do it, but was amazed that it failed for that. I looked up the Missouri code, which clearly states that it would be rejected if the flange is leaking. I gave him my number, and he was to call me later and let me know when it could be done. That call never came in. The next morning, I took it to Car-X, and they said that they would be happy to cut out the flanges and weld in a pipe in their places. This store was much cleaner and better organized. They also put paper down on the driver's side carpet so it wouldn't get dirty, which the other place failed to do. I'm very sorry to have inconvenienced Midas by thanking them for looking at my car and asking them if they could fix it. Needless to say, I won't go back there and would steer others away as well. If someone says they are going to do something, they need to follow through.

The Good: - They were able to get me in quickly. Many places hem and haw about inspections, but I didn't get that impression here. - They have a phone/tablet charging stain in the waiting area. Pretty neat touch, but the cords do not extend, so forget about plugging in your device from the couch. The Not-so-Good - Parking? Forget about it. I have never gotten a decent spot, and usually have to park across the street at the railroad tracks. They have a VERY small parking lot that has been full each time I was there. - My inspection failed because of a leak at the muffler exhaust flanges. Another shop inspector told me that he would never have failed me for this. I looked at the State requirements, and it seems it would, in fact, fail because of the flange leaks. - Here is what I REALLY didn't like. In order to fix this, they wanted to replace the resonators, pipes, and mufflers at nearly $1400. When I asked if the flanges could simply be cut out and a new pipe welded in place, the guy actually LAUGHED at me and said that is not something they would be able to do. Let me be frank... I work on my own cars and am VERY good at recognizing BS when I hear it. His laughter made me feel like I asked a stupid question. At least, it was an attempt at that, maybe. I am extremely well-qualified. After he laughed at me, it changed my impression of this shop... permanently. I am livid about this, and that other people may be prone to not questioning them. - What did I do instead? For a few dollars, I cut out the flanges and welded in pipes. Right... I said, "a few dollars." Not $1400. After the repairs, I brought my car back, and it passed inspection just fine. I had an opportunity to listen to some interactions while I was waiting. I am guessing a "manager" was in the lobby and on the phone while the other worker was trying to talk to customers. It was almost impossible because the manager was being so cocky and loud. I did not like that, either, because it gave the impression of cockiness and rudeness. Would I take my vehicles back here? NO... NO, NO, NO! Laughing at my question is NOT a good response. $1400 for replacing exhaust, resonators (etc.) that DID NOT need it vs. a simple fix I did myself left a permanent negative impression about this business. Making me feel like an idiot was not cool. It left me wondering how many other people fall into this trap and blindly hand out money. FOLKS... Ask questions... Get second opinions! Don't settle for the first answer, and NEVER allow someone to laugh at you and make it sound impossible. I'm sorry guys - No blank check today.

While having my Tahoe literally all day, from 6am to at least 3pm with zero communications I finally called them to be told "I don't know" when asked the status of my vehicle. Furthermore, Tom said he hadn't received the analysis report from the mechanic. Well maybe Tom, you should have at least taken the time to contact them for you paying costumer, but instead he said "I DON'T KNOW" WTF?! We rely on having two vehicles!!! It wasn't until the following late morning Tom called me and again seemed soooo disgruntled and miserable. Like he absolutely hates his job! Or maybe talking to costumers! Either way they did NOT do the work, we took our vehicle elsewhere. As we will plan on doing in the future. Tom, you need to probably find a different job with zero interaction with people.
