Owner: "Your car is taking up space on my rack and it is slowing us down." - After asking about the status of the repair/wrong part they ordered." I remember taking my Infiniti here for a replacement alternator. They said they 'should' have one in within a day or so and would call me. Several days went by with no word and I called them - The female (owner's daughter I think) said she would check on it and call me back. I never got a callback. The next day I call back in and she said she would have to check on it. I told her I would wait on the phone. She said that it had to be ordered and could take a week or more and that she would call me. Two weeks later, the part comes in, they install it but cannot wire it up because it was THE WRONG PART! Again they need to order the part. Another week goes by and I still have no update and no car. So I call once again and get to speak to the owner. Not only does he not apologize for the delay or ordering the wrong part, but when I ask for ETA, he gets snippy with me saying that my car is taking up rack space in his garage and that it is slowing them down/costing them business. I'll tell you what, jerky... if you hadn't ordered the wrong part, that would not happen. If calls were returned and I was kept up to date, I would not have had to babysit. Not to mention a month of car rental for me because of your mistakes. The experience with this local business was a gigantic dumpster fire. read more

This was my first time using Dan's Foreign Auto Repair. I have an older Toyota 4x4 Tacoma that had a "problematic" issue with the exhaust system (O2 sensors and all that goes along with that). I kinda knew what the issues where before dropping it off at Dan's. It just so happens when I picked it up today, the mechanic was in the office area and explained to me what he did, the problems he found, how he troubleshooted the issue, and fixed it Believe me, they know what they are doing! Great work and a very fair price. I'll for sure be using them to service my Toyota truck in the future (Sorry Dobbs- you're fired!). :) In addition, you couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of folks; 10 stars, A++, Awesome! read more

I called several places to compare price of oil change for an import. I did not want to pay what they charged at the dealership but when I called around, a lot of places actually charged more. Anyway, I found this place on yelp and although it's like 25 miles away, it still cheaper than all the other places I called. They were very nice, as my kid was running around getting into things in the waiting room. They couldn't reset the warning for oil change as newer car companies don't release that information. Anyway, great service and based on oil change, I recommend them. read more

I took my truck here awhile back to get a smog check and had a good experience. So, when my 2000 Ford F150 literally spit a plug and coil out of the head (it's a thing with the 10th gen F150) this week one of the first places I thought of was Dan's. I called them up and Dan knew exactly what I had experienced. He told me one of his techs Bob had allot of experience with this particular Ford issue, which made me feel a little better about the situation. Hell, I thought I was gonna have to replace the heads (or worse) but he suggested fitting it with an thread insert first. Keep in mind the Ford Dealership I called that day immediately wanted me to replace heads ($1750.00+). The next morning I spoke directly with Bob and asked him about the CalVan style inserts and he said he has the same style but by Snap-On. I learned about the CalVan brand and style of insert whilst becoming an internet warrior about the subject the night before. Everyone online (including actual Ford tech's) suggested using this type of insert (instead of the helecoil stuff) if you aren't gonna go through the trouble of replacing the head(s). Bob knew all about these inserts and how to do it right. I had the truck towed in the next morning. While he was in there we agreed to have Bob replace all the other coils & plugs (they've never been replaced on this 200k+ motor), flush the brake fluid as well as replace the front and rear wheel bearings on both front wheel hubs bc I was feeling like the wheels were gonna fall off at some point. I got the old girl back today and she's driving like a million bucks! The truck has NEVER ran and felt this solid, ever. Keep in mind we got her when she was already 8yrs old (in 2008), but still. Much Thanks to Bob for breathing new life into the old F150, and thanks to everyone at Dan's Foreign Auto for making it a painless experience. These guys (and gal) are good people, NEVER did they try to up-sell me or try and make me replace something that didn't need replacing (ie the heads or a full on brake job). On top of that their prices are more than fair. I hope she never needs any (major) service in the future but if she does, I know where I'll be taking her.... :) read more

Excellent customer service! I recently purchased a '91 Toyota Supra Turbo and had it at another place of business for window tinting. The battery had died and their technicians couldn't get the car to start. A friend referred me to Dan as an expert on older imports so I called his shop and they got Dan on the phone for me. Dan spent 20 minutes talking me through trouble shooting options. I went up to the tint shop and we tried the first option to override the alarm system and sure enough the car started. I never met Dan and Dan didn't make a dollar off the time he spent with me on the phone. If I have a problem with this car I will definitely bring it to the shop. I couldn't thank him enough and the techs at the tint shop were impressed as well. read more

Wow. The best mechanic that I have ever visited. These people are amazing. And I'm beyond grateful for how they helped me and my car today. I drove from Columbia to wentzville for work and I just had 700 dollars worth of repairs the prior week at a different mechanic in Columbia. As I was driving today, the oil light came on, which is not what you want to see 100 miles from home and a week after having an oil change. My dipstick read empty. Long story short, Bob and Dan got me in on an insanely busy day, and fixed it up. These people really made my day and I understand why they have a great reputation. After watching how much care and craftsmanship they put in their work, I'll always recommend this shop. I wish I could give you 10 stars. read more

The heater went out in my truck just before X-Mas and although they initially told me they were too busy to get me in, the owner tells me how to possibly fix the issue on my own (saving me possibly hundreds of dollars). Told me that if that didn't do the trick, bring it in (despite how busy they were) and they'd fix it. Have used dan's on several occasions for my Audi, BMW and Ford. The shop is small and unimpressive, but the service and prices keep me going back. I usually deal directly with Dan and typically walk away having paid less than quoted. The dude is honest and knows what he is talking about. read more

I have used Dan's a few times. They always do a good job on my Toyota pickup. Wished they offered more services:they don't do emissions testing and they do NOT do alignments. They charged the a/c in my truck and when I picked it up the fan belt was making a lot of noise. That's not their fault, just wish they would have mentioned it. read more

I took my car here and they told me it would take a week to get my car in, which I was fine with. I chose Dans because they supposedly specialize in foreign vehicles and I own a BMW. The next 3 WEEKS can only be described as a communicative disaster, plagued by awful service and scratches on my vintage cars that I cannot afford to fix. It took a week and a half to even take a look at my car, they didn't ask my permission before ordering parts and starting to do work, nor did I get a quote on this work. I called to try and get a quote and she said it shouldnt be more than 250-300 dollars. They never called me for updates on my car, I called them everytime. When my car was finally done after waiting for three weeks, I got a bill for $640 and the hood of my car had LONG and obvious scratches that weren't there before I dropped it off. When I spoke to the mechanic while trying to pay the bill, he spoke as though he knew nothing about BMWs, which is a foreign car. He said one of the parts I needed no longer existed, which is untrue as I found that very part online literally minutes after leaving. Overall, my experience at Dans was filled with poor communication, inaccurate information, and less than satisfactory service. If you care about your car, find somewhere else. read more

My daughter's 99 Volvo C70 broke down, major oil leak, on I-70 in Wentzville. It is bad enough when the oil is leaking out on the asphalt near home; many times worse 2 hours away. We had the car towed to Dan's based solely on his Yelp reviews. He treated us so well: got approval before dismantling the front of the engine to find the leak, gave us straight answers, arranged to get the parts from Volvo, got a difficult job done in a reasonable amount of time, and, after getting approval, replaced other critical parts (timing belt, serpentine belt) that could be done for the long-term service at little extra cost. We talked afterwords, and I believe that he will treat you fairly too. read more

I had an electrical problem with my chrysler 300M. I took it to two dealers prior to going to Dan's. The first wanted to replace the instrument cluster @$1300 the second dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the car. Dan found that the positive battery cable needed replaced. i've had the car back for a week.. seems to be fine. Cost less than $50. That is certainly a "wow!" I've taken my Kid's cars to Dan and we've always been satisfied with Dan's work. read more
