I went on a Saturday where it is free for residents of Bay Area counties. I'm not sure if you can get the ticket the day of in person, but I got mine online a few days prior since these tickets are limited. I might even recommend to get them a week ahead. The pieces inside range from 2D art to houseware to statues and settings. Everything was so impressive. We also made sure we grabbed seats 20 min prior to the organ show as the seats fill up very quickly. Though there is a ton of standing room if you aren't able to grab a seat.

The Legion of Honor is located in Lincoln Park and is a component of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, which also administers the de Young Museum. The Legion of honor is not as big as the de Young Museum, but has a beautiful and exquisite collection of art. We enjoyed seeing the special exhibit of Ancient Italy. The lower level of the museum was the perfect fit for this amazing collection of the Etruscans civilization. There were around 200 examples of bronze and terracotta sculpture, gold jewelry, ceramics, and architectural features, as well as the longest-surviving piece of Etruscan writing. We really enjoyed this exhibit as well as other featured paintings and sculptures, on the main level. There is even a porcelain gallery with pieces from England and Europe, which we enjoyed seeing. They have a really nice gift shop and a cafe. We browsed the gift shop and had lunch at their cafe, which was very good. We would definitely come back to visit again for their next exhibit.

We purchased 3-day GA+ passes and were able to upgrade on Friday and Saturday. The GA+ lounge offered ample seating and dedicated restrooms, although some of the restroom stalls were not significantly better than standard porta potties. There was a wide variety of food vendors throughout the festival but only one vendor was available in the GA+ lounge. Given that the bar never really got busy, there was room for an additional food option. We also visited several VIP areas, which were cool, though many views were partially obstructed by the Golden Gate Club section. An area for improvement would be adding more lockers. Since we upgraded on Friday and Saturday, we weren't sure which lockers to book in advanced due to access. Also, many of the staff members we approached were unable to provide clear assistance. It was frustrating and we eventually had to figure it out. There is a considerable amount of walking and there's some uphill paths. Most areas were clearly named but it wasn't clear where they led to. Another challenge was the number of pathways that felt too narrow for the volume of people moving between stages, especially during peak times. Overall, we made the best of the experience and enjoyed what we could. We were able to watch most of the artists and bands on our list, which made the festival worthwhile.

The Marina Theatre is a family-owned small neighborhood theater that we can bring our kids, friends and family to to see a film together. Hot popcorn smell! Well tiered rows so I'm not craning my neck around someone's head to see the picture. Watching the San Francisco International Film Festival films in Theater 1 was fun. The smaller theater (#2) is more intimate but no less enjoyable. When was the last time you went to see a film and (maybe) eat out at the great restaurants on Chestnut and neighboring streets before or after a screening? Do it!

At entry, a problematic guest in front of me apparently purchased the wrong tickets online. The worker/owner seemed to have no clue how to resolve the issue, and instead of letting the competent people inside, they decided to clog the line, arguing back and forth with the guest. The place is small, so once they scanned tickets, visitors were piled into the cozy sized lobby waiting till they opened the auditorum 15 minutes before the listed showtime. The classic concessions stand offered a fairly standard variety of menu items including hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, candy, ice cream bars, soda, as well as a range of hot tea options. There are two auditoriums, both located upstairs. The curved backs of the folding seats made them comfortable enough for a (less than) 2-hour event, with cupholders on the arm rests. "Right in the Eye" was such an incredible production, unique and entertaining. The delightful works of french filmmaker and magician, George Méliès, shown on the screen alongside an amazing live musical performance, made for a truly enjoyable experience. An awesome collection of quirky silent films and clips from more than a century ago, scenes filled with amusing special effects and a touch of humor. The lighting, sound, and diversity of instruments used (including the theremin, triangle, music box, and waterphone) were mesmerizing and executed beautifully. The setting at the Marina Theatre was just right for a lighthearted feel-good time.
