In Dreams: A Tribute to David Lynch is an awesome event currently happening at the Roxie Theater, and we couldn't miss it. We attended the 35mm screening of the cult classic Eraserhead, which began with an animated short film, Asparagus by Suzan Pitt, the entire experience putting us in a lynchian mood at the Big Roxie this past Tuesday evening. The historic theater is nostalgic, with just a small lobby and concessions stand serving a limited menu of snacks and drinks, and two all gender restrooms which formed quite a line before the show (the movie, by the way, began 15 minutes after the listed showtime). The seating in the auditorium is simple and comfy enough with lightly padded back and seat cushions, as well as drink holders on the armrests. Great sound and picture quality too. Especially with the range of incredible films shown here, this charming theater is a treasure to have in SF.

INTIMATE THEATER SHOWING "REAL" MOVIES There is a lost connection between the audience and movie theaters. That has to do with the type of movies playing at the theater. I'm not a nostalgic, but I yearn for the days going to theaters. Last year I started going to the movie theaters to watch some classic movies. Why this theater? There was a Three Colors trilogy (Blue, White, and Red) - films that were made in the 1990s and set mostly in Paris - showing in early September. In a span of less than a week I saw those movies at Roxie Theater. Besides the movies to really enjoy your theater experience you need feel comfortable in your seat especially if the movies are over two hours. For those three days I never had complaints. Going to Roxie Theater to watch movies you get a different type of audience who really appreciates exceptional, quality movies whether they're classics or contemporaries such as the Three Colors trilogy.

As I walked in there was a check in right behind the person at the entrance was a large screen with the most dynamic scene of a planet as if there was lava coming through pockets and astroids flying around the atmosphere. The visual effects and the screen size was enormous. Some real strict protocols to enter the theatre, a bit too much in my opinion. People were required to empty there purses and leave there water bottles on the counter alongside the wall. I did not bring anything but after the long wait to get in I was super thirsty and asked if I could find water anywhere. I was advise my best bet would be to drink out of the bathroom sink. I was so thirsty I almost did that since I would be in the movie for another 1-2 hours. Unfortunately the water in the bathroom was on auto sensor which would only turn on for 1-2 seconds. Write turning off. And the water was warm. Anyhow I did survive the movie without getting any water. As I walked into the theatre it was mesmerizing I didn't know what I was walking into. The entire building was very modern and sound system was state of the art. Considering I was in the Dolby Center. The seats were very comfy and the quality of the movie and sound system was the best experience Ever. The movie was good great cinematography and story. The acting was amazing and I really enjoyed the movie. A bit of a tear jerky at times as well as exciting, adventurous, scenic, and captivating. The combination of the amazing theatre made the movie very enjoyable. After the movie the three chairs were set up in front of the movie and to my surprise the main character and the director is the movie walked right passed me to enjoy a discussion with the audience. It was so amazing nothing I have ever experience. What an honor! It was an absolute great evening and experience.

The popcorn and drinks are self-serve, which is located to the left area of the concession stand once you pick up your bucket and drink cups. It's very easy to fill up your popcorn and drinks - for popcorn, there is also the butter valve option here. The escalators will take you up to your theater - my friends and I watched Project Hail Mary and were seated higher up towards to back row section. The chairs are very comfy and I felt relaxed while watching the movie (which is about 2.5 hours long!). The bathrooms are located on the 2nd floor and are well-maintained and clean. I enjoyed my experience here and highly recommend checking it out.

I mean, it looks like a spaceship inside. It's swank and modern. It's comfortable and well-equipped. I did hear a few complaints about the seats being too lean-y and lacking arm rests, but I found them soft and well-spaced, and the sound and projection were great. My stuff looked great on screen. It was the perfect size for a post-show Q&A- 143 seats holds a crowd but not an impersonal one. The hosts were incredibly gracious and caring about the show they were putting on. This place doesn't organize shows like amateurs (trust me, I've done those.) If you're thinking of seeing a show here, it's probably something you wouldn't see anywhere else, so you might not know how to judge it. Consider yourself in good hands. It will be curated with taste. There's tons of great options for eating and shmoozing afterward right across the street, in Japantown's mall full of sushi places. One of my co-attendees is well versed in quality sushi, and called the place we went to one of the best she had found in the city. Pick this theater and neighborhood for a great night out.

Small screen, very uncomfortable seating for taller people, slightly worn restrooms, and challenging parking. Arrive early for seating. In detail: I went to Presidio Movie Theater on a Wednesday night to watch a movie that was no longer available at AMC that week, which was the main reason I chose this theater. The screen is relatively small. It feels standard for a neighborhood theater, but noticeably smaller if you are used to larger cinema chains. The biggest issue for me was the seating. I am 6'1", and the seat back only supported about three fifths of my upper body. Sitting upright while trying to maintain proper neck and back support was uncomfortable throughout the movie. The restrooms were another disappointment. They felt outdated and not particularly well maintained, similar to old gas station restrooms. I purchased my ticket through the Fandango app. There is no assigned seating, so for popular movies or showtimes, arriving early is important to secure a decent seat. Parking was more difficult than usual. Many of the surrounding townhouses have driveways, which significantly limits available street parking around the block.

The place is small, so once they scanned tickets, visitors were piled into the cozy sized lobby waiting till they opened the auditorum 15 minutes before the listed showtime. The classic concessions stand offered a fairly standard variety of menu items including hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, candy, ice cream bars, soda, as well as a range of hot tea options. There are two auditoriums, both located upstairs. The curved backs of the folding seats made them comfortable enough for a (less than) 2-hour event, with cupholders on the arm rests. "Right in the Eye" was such an incredible production, unique and entertaining.
