Grew up in So Cal and currently live on the east coast. Great experience, great food we can't find out there. Stopped for a breakfast burrito on our way to the airport. The chorizo and egg burrito and sausage and bacon breakfast burrito were huge and exactly what you want a burrito to be. Ended up getting 5 carne asada burritos to fly back to the east coast for family. The service was great and when I told them I was going to fly with them they took extra care to wrap it all tight so it would make it back. Nothing fancy or trendy or crazy. This is your standard hole-in-the-wall Mexican eatery (which I say lovingly). It's a chain, and there are two of them with the same menu and prices in Escondido, so you know what you're getting. As far as the street tacos go, they always end up being a little dry, particularly the cabeza. But the burritos are always stuffed, and the enchiladas and camarones are cooked well. The negative being the enchiladas ALWAYS spill from the takeout containers unless you have them perfectly level. The caldo de res is really delicious, albeit a little salty. It's excellent if you're under the weather and need a comforting soup like my tia used to make. The prices have definitely gone up in the past few years, but it's still worth it IMO. Late night favorite for sure! Our go to is the chicken rolled tacos and bean, cheese and rice burrito. The rolled tacos are never short on guacamole and cheese. I mean they are slathered. If you're looking for a burrito about the size of your forearm then this is your place. I also appreciate the ratio of beans to rice to cheese as well. Some places are mostly beans so it's nice they aren't like that. The salsa bar has a good variety from mild to hot and I love the carrots!! The service is friendly and fast and the place is always pretty busy it seems no matter what time you go. The vibe is typical fast food with several tables to eat at.
