A girlfriend and I had lunch here. Not one other customer was in the restaurant. I ordered two tacos with beans and rice. My tacos were street size $14.50, my friend ordered huevos rancheros, $16.95. they asked her red or green sauce? She chose green. Her dish presented like slop. We both ordered tea to drink. We received the bill and to our surprise, they charged my friend an extra $6 for her already accounted for two eggs and $2 extra for her green sauce. The waiter said nothing about charging more for eggs, then pointed to a sign on the door [eggs may cost more...]. Her meal totaled more than everything on the menu! $24.95. How the heck do you charge $24.95 for two eggs and beans and rice, and to top it off the food was terrible. Our lunch was over $55. Never again!! read more

We have been here the past two days if that says anything at all. We are staying at a friend's house in Valley Center and enjoyed a delicious dinner on Thursday of rolled tacos in a bean burrito absolutely delicious great guacamole great salsa everything tasted really good. Then today I decided to work from our friend's house and for lunch we decided to head back up we did continue to have the roll tacos and a cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans once again absolutely delicious amazing amazing real SoCal Mexican food! Both times we called in the food was ready when we picked it up but I think next time we're going to check out the inside there's a nice little bar attached and it's very ready for Halloween it looks very very cool inside the restaurant the ambience looks right Halloweenish! read more

We came up the hill as a last-minute decision. Reveles is the closest place to us for sit-down Mexican with a bar. Columbus Day holiday meal found us right here, right now . . . and then they started the karaoke. We sat in the dining area because of a mobility issue and happened to sit at the table that got all of the kitchen traffic. But that's ok, because we were never forgotten for any of our service, and the karaoke wasn't too annoyingly loud back there. A couple of menu items of notice. The Jalapeno poppers (first time we ordered) were not very enticing in their presentation, texture or flavor. Probably won't order those again. The Molcajete was a different story. I ordered the pork as the filling meat in the very hot stone mortar bowl filled with some great and interesting treats that surprised everyone at our table. The Molcajete served as the perfect table appetizer along with chips, salsa and guacamole. And where did they find these GIANT carrots. HUGE! Reveles' food seems to always hit the spot when needed. Perhaps it's the conversations we have only a few minutes' drive from our home. Perhaps it's because their food always seems fresh and delicious. The Molcajete and giant carrots deserve the extra star this evening. As we concluded our visit, we went to look at the bar and it was PACKED inside and outside. Had dinner there with my wife. We had the chili Relleno's, enchiladas and tamales. The waiter/ host was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Only thing was it was warm inside the restaurant even though they had fans blowing throughout the restaurant. Completely disgusting at best. We wasted $40. We usually go to El Rey but they were closing soon so we decided to try this place. My pina colada was completely watery to start. Complimentary chips and salsa was like a mini bowl of chips and runny salsa. I ordered what I usually order at el Rey cheese enchilada and Chile relleno. When it came out on a cheap paper plate it looked like it was smothered in watered down canned tomato sauce. I couldn't even tell which was which. Took one bite of each and that was enough. I am giving 4 as the other reviews were pretty unreasonable in their expectations...and the food was good. First, I hate places that gave place to stupid covid protocals...maybe this one did, but they are clearly over it. The chips were absolutely fresh and excellent, but I heard from a friend they weren't so fresh and crisp a week ago. Based on extremely limited hours, staffing, it is clear this place wants to churn out some good eats but is financially conservative after covid...or even hurting. To their benefit, their pricing is absurdly low considering what food and staffing costs, and what we have all been experiencing both at our grocery store and normal restaurants price hikes. That said, the yellow rice was very flavorful, the mojarra frita perfect, avocado perfect but limited...but at least they were perfect...80% of the restaurants think a slight bruised, hazy brown avocado is ok...it isn't. The chile relleno was great! I really enjoyed the salsa..but it would be mild for most people that aren't me;) The service was scarce but friendly, and the crowds were scarce. Consider this in a more remote area when dining. I do believe 30 min to be unreasonable...I did not experience that, but these small companies need our support and can't consistently staff with inconsistent diners. I love this place, the staff and food brings me back again & again. I remember when they were in Escondido on Mission Ave, they were excellent then and continue to be EXCELLENT. I can't say enough about the staff, the most friendly, personable, polite, PROFESSIONAL people. The menu is varying and you can't go wrong no matter what you order. The prices are what you should expect in 2023 in any full service restaurant with a full bar in California. They have a full Mexican seafood menu as well as the other usual Mexican items, full dinner or a la carte. Covid was very hard on the business and they have fortunately survived. I've tried Casa Reveles twice now and the 2nd time is my fault for trying to give a local business another shot during Covid when I already knew their food was not great. This time around, during a cold and rainy day, my wife wanted Albondigas soup and El Rey (which we love) was closed. So I had the not-so-bright idea to call Casa Reveles and see if they had Albondigas. Unfortunately they did so I ordered dinner from them. Soup, Enchiladas, and Chile Verde for $50. A bit steep, but let's support local right... The Albondigas soup was actually ok. I thought it looked store bought at first, but as I got into it, it wasn't bad. Not my favorite, but not bad. As for the Chili Verde, well, there was barely enough pork to make 2 small street tacos. The sauce was not a typical verde sauce. It looked like it had been mixed with sour cream or something as it resembled an avocado cream sauce more than a verde sauce. I guess it was green, just not the typical green I'm used to. It was not very flavorful. I ate 1 taco and gave the rest to the dog. My wife didn't really like the enchiladas either, but I didn't try them. My actual biggest complaint was the service. I called and was told to give them 20 mins. I got there in 10 mins because I was close by. They were very quick to take my payment and then I didn't see another worker for 35-40 minutes. Not a soul. No updates on my order. Nothing. If I had not already paid in cash, I would have left and just went somewhere else for dinner. in the end, my 20 min order took just under 50 minutes to be given to me. And when I got home (5 minutes away), most of it was barely warm. So where were they with my food all that time? Where were the workers? Sorry, I know Covid has been hard on businesses, but this place does not deserve your business. Drive the extra 15 minutes to El Rey or go into Escondido, or try one of the food trucks in town. I certainly will. This one is off my list permanently. read more

The huevos rancheros are served all day and they are freakin' good! - My go to. The hamburger was regular and I'm ok with that at a Mexican food joint. The shrimp app was not too shabby, super spicy and a healthy option. They have a great happy hour. I've tried all the HH tacos and none of them disappoint, and their Cadillac margarita will melt your worries away. One time, I saw this guy order bacon wrapped shrimp with cheesy rice, looked delish! Next time... I have never been disappointed with the service or their chips and salsa. I've taken my dogs and sat in the patio area and the cantina shows all the sports! I went in to order take out. I ordered two pollo asada quesadillas with sour cream and guac inside for my husband and 6 year old son. For me I ordered the bistek rancheros. Paid $40 for all that. Pretty pricey for a couple quesadillas and a plate. When I get home to serve my family I give my kid his food. They put all kinds of stuff inside the quesodillas that I did not ask for: onions, peppers, black olives, cilantro, tomatoes, all of which my kid will not eat. And there was no picking all that out since everything was tiny. Oh, not very much cheese and chicken in it. When you ask for a chicken quesodilla, you expect chicken and cheese to be in there and nothing else. I look at my receipt, they have us the Sergio's quesodilla. I ended up making him a sandwich. My food: bistek rancheros. Horrible! There was like 4 or 5 tiny, skinny pieces of meat in it. The meat wasn't even good: tough and chewy. The side of rice just tasted like salty rice. This place is terrible at mexican food, but great at ripping you off. 12$ for a chicken quesodilla that sloppy and ENCOMPASSES HALF OF THE TORTILLA. I tore most of the badly made quesodilla due to it being mostly tortilla, and it was a mishmash of guacamole, tomatos and 5 pieces of chopped chicken. My wife got the worst of it, it was a bistek rancheros, with 2 to 3 pieces of of finely sliced meat. Either this place was for vegans or there must be a meat shortage. I was at this restaurant tonight and feel compelled to leave a review, as I stand in my kitchen shoving my face. Amongst several other things, newly motherhood has shown me sitting down to eat happens when it happens. Still, I must take a moment to give these guys a shout out. My husband and I get food to go from here fairly often. Going out to dinner really isn't our thing, although I tend to enjoy it more than he does. I was in there tonight with my 7 month old son waiting for an order to go I had walked in and placed. I am leaving this review because of the kindness of the staff. The gentlemen that work there, the owner included, are as kind and good as they come, and to me this is what small town living is all about. I would have stopped there, but the food is equally as matched. I recently stopped eating meat or dairy, and their avocado tostada and bean, rice, and guacamole burrito is incredible. Everything tastes fresh and without additives. Great restaurant for the atmosphere (they even have karaoke on Saturday nights), friendly, warm staff, and delicious food. I used to go here a long long long time ago when it was under different ownership. Casa Reveles feels like an "old school" place. You actually kind of feel like you are in Mexico in the country somewhere. We went here for lunch today after golf. They have lunch specials. The lunch specials consist of carnitas & tomatillo burrito, flautas, shrimp burrito, enchilada & taco combo, tostada, rolled taquitos etc. Each combo comes with rice and beans. As for the drinks, they have large size plastic glasses. I ordered a arnold palmer. We were the only customers at the time. As it hit 1:00 P.M. more people started to trickle in. Salsa definitely tastes home made. Chips were good. Wouldn't say that this is the best Mexican food, but its good for Valley Center and for the location that it is at. Apparently, Reveles goes off for Karaoke. This restaurant is a nice place to have in Valley Center and it has been there for a long time. Check it out sometime. read more
