So, I took my daughter 2008 Nisan Altima in for maintenance, her car has been giving her trouble so we decided to take it to where we know we will get great service. They got us in no time (same day). I prayed it was nothing severe and we would be up and running and back home in no time. Well, to say the least, we did get and estimate in a timely fashion, but was far expensive than expected. Although the car required much work, Dillan was great, he worked with me and explained what was need first. He took the pressure off and helped in break down the essentials. I highly recommend. I purchased the car from Benton Nissan and I was given 2 free oil change cards so naturally I assume that they charge for oil changes. I came to Jim Burke last oil change because it's very close to my job and I needed an oil change and due to traffic I can never make it to Benton during the week. So this time same thing occurred. Pulling up I noticed the sign that said home of the free oil change for life and I was like Wowwwwwww. So to me it's not a decision to be made they do free oil changes and sometimes wash your car as well so I'm SOLD!!!!!! The staff is pretty friendly and attentive. I ask Nissan to fix my brake lights only so they would come on. My appointment was for 12:00 pm and I arrive at 11:30 am but clerk said I had to leave my car???overnight and that the bill would be $869. I was shocked at the charged. I asked why so much, he expIain the parts they were replacing. when I picked up the car the next morning I ask him were all the parts on the bill needed to make my brake lights come on, he said yes. I found out later after researching the parts online that the replaced brake light switch was correct but two other parts -ASCD Assy switch & missing rubber stopper in brake pedal had nothing to do with my brake lights. My parts charges were $123.98 and labor $733. That ACSD Assy involves my high,low beam switch, now it doesn't work right, call and asked about, he said the mechanic said it was sticking. Agree with Allen T. "FREE OIL CHANGE ISN'T REALLY FREE". When I bought my Rogue almost 2 years ago, it was not really being enforced that you had to get ALL service with them to get the Free Oil changes and Wipers. Now they are enforcing it. I can tell you I will not buy another car from them nor any place that offers Free Oil changes, Tires, etc. I went back to my paperwork and found that I was charged about $800.00 through the dealer for the so-called Free Oil Changes. So next time, just take that $800 off and I'll handle my own oil changes. I really like my sales person, AJ. I hate that I will not be able to buy another car from him as he is really a nice guy. read more

Not honest, before I got out of my car, I was hit with a laundry list of service needed, I told the rep, a lot of those things were already done, I then pointed out the errors on the milage for oil changes and things went south from there. They do NOT do oil changes for life. Read the fine print of the fine print. Last visit I paid over 400.00 for brake service, I did not need. I took my 2016 Nissan Rogue on August 8, 2023, for its oil change. I have a lifetime oil change with Jim Burke. The service advisor told me the only way I could get the lifetime oil change was to have my car serviced with scheduled maintenance. I told him that my car had been previously serviced but they could check the filters. At that point he said, you'll have to spend at least $185 to receive the oil change (the oil change was quoted at 79.95). I thought it over and told him that's okay, I would take it to a Nissan dealer near my home since I was required to pay. I took the car to Benton Nissan, got the oil changed at $59.99, received a complete vehicle inspection including cabin filters (which did not need changing), and replaced an under panel in the front of the vehicle at no extra charge. Needless to say, I will never go back to Burke. I really didn't appreciate the service advisor trying to take advantage of me because I'm a female and he didn't think I knew better. read more

This is where I bought my car! I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Everyone was very professional and accommodating. They do claim to be the "home of free oil changes for life," but honestly that's only true to a certain extent. Every time I've been I end up spending up to $200, due to other things my car supposedly "needs." My last car was running very smoothly with over 200k miles, so obviously I take care maintenance seriously. It's just hard to believe my brand new car needs so much done at every oil change which turns into a big bill for me. I'm not sure if the "free" oil change is truly worth it. read more

Showed up for a 9:30 scheduled maintenance, there was about 25 other cars in line when I walked in to check in. I immediately turned around & left without even waiting to check in. Either the mechanics are extremely slow (doubtful) or the service department is completely unorganized (likely). They either over schedule & expect you to wait, or the appointments don't mean anything, because they let random people get in line at the same time as your scheduled appointment. I would recommend finding a more organized & professional dealership. Based on their lack of organization in the front office, I wouldn't feel confident in how they treat your vehicle once they start working on it. Won't be back. read more

I had a stress-free experience buying my car at Jim Burke in October of 2013. I did not feel pressured to purchase the car that I bought and they were very willing to work with me to make sure I got the car I wanted. Leather seats were a must-have for me and they were actually able to install them in the mid range model of my car, saving me about $4000, instead of buying the "luxury" model of my car. I am currently sitting in the service area getting an oil change (they are free for life here when you buy a car) and the service department has been kind and knowledgeable. I have had a bit of a wait, but that is to be expected since I didn't ring my car in until later. read more

Took in my Altima on 9/22 as I was experiencing an issue with the engine "missing" and jerking. I also was due for an oil change. So eventually they came out to tell me I needed to replace my transmission to the tune of $5100! They diagnosed this by driving it, as the Customer rep told me nothing coded (it sounded like they hadn't actually used the computer to diagnose, but that was unclear based on how the customer rep spoke) I was also charged 150.50 for them to incorrectly diagnose the issue! I was informed they would happily trade my car for a newer one tho! So how do I know they were wrong? Well, I took it to a reputable mechanic, who actually diagnosed the issue as needing a tune up - spark plugs and an ignition coil-for $375! Seems to me they are under -diagnosing and way overcharging , and/or just trying to sell you stuff you just dont need. I just took my car in for the second free oil change and was told I would receive a $30 credit towards an oil change. The $$ is not the issue, the issue is I was lied to. At no time at the point of sale, nor the first and only free oil change was I told they were not free. Every commercial Jim Burke has highlights this service and it's a lie. Our family bought 2 cars in 4 day period at Jim Burke and I can assure you we will never purchase there again. I will pay someone else for the oil change so I don't have to give 1 cent to Jim Burke. I don't appreciate being lied to. If you lie about something as simple as an oil change I can't imagine what else you lie about to your customers. read more

"FREE OIL CHANGE ISN'T REALLY FREE". Read the fine print. You must have ALL recommended service work done. This is where they get you and actually make money from offering you a free oil change since all other service work is over priced. IF you don't want to let them change your fuel filters (30 min work tops start to finish and $30 in parts) for $200-250 then they simply refuse to do any other work. Its a shame I had bought my last two cars there and didn't have an issue with this until this last oil change. So I was shocked when he told me that and argued a bit to which instead of diffusing the situation the kid working there became agitated and snappy showing me that fine print that is really vague and never mentioned when telling you about the free oil changes for life. It could be that I had been flagged since I had given them a less than glowing review back to Nissan when they kept my new 45000 truck for a month working on it and still didn't get everything fixed while I drove around an Altima that had been smoked heavily in when I needed a pickup and can't stand the smell of smoke. read more

If it was possible I would not even give this dealership one single star. They advertise free oil change and wipers but yet when a repeat customer calls for an appointment they are given the run around. They NEVER have appointments available and when you do actually get an appointment, you get there only to be told it's going to be 3-4 hour wait. This is the second vehicle I have purchased from this dealership and I will NEVER purchase another one or recommend them to anyone. I had no issues with my first car but this one I purchased in September of last year and have had nothing but issues with the service department. Your dealership needs to hire a real Service Department Manager that will get it back on track. I've had to take my car to outside sources to have the oil changed and it cost over $100 both times, I should not have had to pay for service since it was part of the deal when I purchased my vehicle. They also need to offer pick up and drop off service so they can come to your place of employment and pick up the vehicle, have the service done and then bring it back to you by the time you get off from work. IT'S CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE SO YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE SURE YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE GETTING THE SERVICES THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING DONE! read more

Brought my Gr Caravan in because of clunking in the rear and because it has an excessive delay when I press the gas pedal, and it misses when accelerating. They have had it almost a week. They replaced a rear strut ( they should be replaced in pairs). they did NOTHING about the other engine problems. With the gas pedal delay, this Dodge is UNSAFE. They advertise free oil changes for life as long as you have the "manufacture" scheduled maintenance performed there.  HOWEVER, when you get to 16k miles they give you a brochure with the "dealer" recommended maintenance and tell you that you must have it done in order to get your free oil change. They expect you to get wheel alignment and fuel injector service done. At 16k miles? Really?!?  Alignment isn't a maintenance service, it's an as needed service.  Ridiculous. There was also some shadiness with the financing guy when signing my paperwork but I let that go. Go buy a car at BENTON Nissan and get lifetime warranty for free instead.   I would be happy for Burke Nissan to make this right but I'm not holding my breath. My credit is banged up and I was upfront with the dealership about this from the moment I began talking to them. We finally were able to get a deal worked out, despite increasing the cost of the car from the advertised price, and Gary wanted me to give him my debit card number over the phone so he could hold the car. I refused and after several exchanges, Gary's words were: "From what I've seen (speaking in regards to my credit), someone would rather steal my debit card than yours". This is probably the only time I have heard a car dealer have something like that come out of their mouth. The sooner Jim Burke can implode, with the rest of downtown Birmingham, the better.
