I'm writing a complete and honest review. If any employee gives you attitude, BEWARE--they might sabotage your car. I came in thinking I had a connection issue. My Corvette sometimes wouldn't start, and I had just had an engine replaced in August. It turned out to be something as simple as the car being a manual transmission with a neutral lock--something no one at Edwards Chevrolet could tell me. This leads me to believe not only are the service clerks (Luci was a great clerk) unexperienced, but the technicians must not be very knowledgeable either. The service clerk Brooks literally told me over the phone, before he acted like a grown man, that no one wants to work on my car. I immediately replied, "Well then let me speak to a manager so I can figure out why." He then changed his attitude and started being professional all of a sudden. That made me suspicious. I told two managers at Edwards Chevrolet that their employee spoke to a customer in that way, and they didn't seem the slightest bit surprised. (Marty Phillips and a Mr. Short.) Manager Mr. Short at Edwards Chevrolet said there were cameras positioned at every bay and he would follow up with me to ensure there was no foul play with my vehicle on 10/16. Since then he's ignored my calls and texts. Marty Phillips didn't even care to investigate. He started mentioning how long everyone had worked there, as if that would prove I'm lying. After reviewing their work on October 16, I found three faults: Drained oil A hose that was detached and not placed back A connector disconnected from my starter I am a 27-year-old United States Army veteran, and I think this business is TRASH. No communication. No accountability. No integrity. I'm ashamed that an American business like Chevrolet is attached to Edwards. Very emotionally charged staff. Very unprofessional. In 2020, I purchased a brand new 2020 Chevy Blazer (Silver) and had an excellent experience. Fast forward to 2026, that vehicle was totaled due to a system issue that caused me to crash into another vehicle. On February 6, 2026, I purchased a used 2022 Chevy Blazer Redline Edition (Black). After having the vehicle for just over a month, the radio and display screen stopped working, and the car completely died, which also caused the key fob to stop functioning. When we attempted to use the physical key inside the fob, we discovered it was not the correct key for the door. After several days of communication with the dealership, the vehicle was finally towed to the service department. The car remained there for almost a week, and after multiple follow‑ups from me, I was finally given a diagnosis. Due to extenuating circumstances, I was unable to purchase the extended warranty, so I understood that the financial responsibility would fall on me. I approved the repair, which totaled $1,085. Today, when I followed up on the status of the vehicle--having now been without a car for a week and a half--I was informed that although the original diagnosis had been repaired and the radio was functioning, the display screen was still not working. I was told this would require an additional $621. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating. I am deeply concerned about how this vehicle passed inspection prior to being sold. I also question why the technician did not identify the issue with the display screen during the initial diagnosis, especially since it was directly related to the radio problem. Based on my experience, I would caution anyone purchasing a used vehicle from Edwards Chevrolet Downtown to secure a warranty immediately. Without one, the experience can be extremely costly and stressful. I am very disappointed, as I previously had a positive relationship with this dealership. I work hard for my money, and I value businesses that demonstrate loyalty, accountability, and integrity. Unfortunately, this situation has left me feeling dismissed and financially burdened due to issues that should have been identified and addressed before the vehicle was sold. Two weeks ago, I underwent major surgery and am currently on medical leave from work, so my finances are extremely limited. After being without a vehicle for a week and a half--and despite requesting a loaner--I was never provided one, nor did I receive a response regarding my request. As a result, I will now be picking up my vehicle in the same condition in which I brought it to the dealership: still not functioning properly. I am already out $1,085 for the initial repair, and I simply cannot afford the additional $621 that was quoted. When I dropped off my vehicle, I provided detailed information, along with photos and a video clearly showing the issues the car was experiencing. It appears that this information was disregarded. Instead, it feels as though only part of the problem was addressed, resulting in an incomplete diagnosis and additional costs. Furthermore, the issue regarding the physical key inside the key fob not fitting the door was never acknowledged or addressed. This has been a difficult lesson, and I will not be doing business with this dealership again. I understand that I am only one customer, and my decision not to do business with this dealership again will not impact them financially. However, I cannot continue to support any company that takes my hard‑earned money and leaves me feeling as though I have been taken advantage of or made to feel foolish and I feel like BOTH! read more

Extremely disappointed with my experience. I live out of state (about 2 1/2 hours away) and had agreed on pricing with a salesperson ahead of time. We scheduled an appointment for me to purchase the vehicle the following day as the vehicle was still in reconditioning. Even though it was the salesperson's day off he came in the following day to complete the sale. The salesperson, who was new, was unfortunately not properly trained, didn't inform me that I needed to sign a pricing sheet and give a deposit to officially secure the vehicle. While I was en route to the dealership, I was informed that another customer had come to view the same vehicle and that management was giving them the first right of refusal. This decision completely disregarded the agreement I had made and the appointment that had been set. It was not only unprofessional, but also deeply disrespectful of both my time and the efforts of their own employee. It's evident this dealership has little regard for honoring prior commitments or recognizing the dedication of their own staff. I was told over 2 months ago. That GM would be doing a Buy back on my 2023 Chevrolet Blazer Lt because i was sold a lemon. I purchased my car on 07/31/2023. Only to discover on 09/21/23 that the transmission was going out in my NEW Chevrolet Blazer. Then, after Edward Chevrolet Service Department, I kept my car from 09/25/2023 until 11/08/2023, telling me it was good at the time . For me to end up returning my Blazer back to them a week later on 11/15/2023 with the same issue the Transmission wasn't fixed properly Then I think 3 weeks after that my Blazer started running HOT and losing power on the road and i was almost hit on the freeway that night . So i had to keep cutting my vehicle off to stop the vehicle from over heating until i got it to Edward Chevrolet that night and i had to leave my vehicle with them to figure out the problem yet again for no apparent reason . Then, the service manager started helping me because she felt bad about everything that was happening to me with my Blazer. She started calling General Motors to let them know what was going on . And that's when they decided to do a so called Buy back on the same vehicle, but the 2023 Blazer for the 2024 Blazer. When I called today, and i found out it was all an LIE from General Motors. It's amazing how I've purchased 5 vehicles from the same dealership and been shopping there since 2010 with them to treat me like I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM EDWARD CHEVROLET AGAIN OR A GM PRODUCT! We had an awesome experience dealing with Wendell Gover! With being from far out of town, purchasing any vehicle, let alone a used vehicle, is a risky and stressful situation. Wendell made it a breeze! We were immediately reached out to after our initial inquiry, and then Wendell continued to respond to questions including sending pics and videos of the vehicle late into the evening. The day of our visit, Wendell stayed on top of our ETA given the long commute; upon our arrival, we found a smiling face and a beautifully detailed car! Wendell made the experience stress free, and I would strongly suggest looking him up the next time you're in the market for a car! Update: I am keeping the initial review above which was done prior to completion of the transaction to show the difference post completion. BUYER BEWARE! This dealership wrote the book for shady deals. I will keep my review of Wendell the same though I am 100% sure there was "good cop, bad cop" on steroids. Here's the playbook: list a price online that is super competitive, get a buyer excited to come in, hope they overlooked the fine print on the list price (must trade in and must finance through the dealer), low ball their trade in versus KBB, charge $1300 in non-essential "Chevyman" line items (pure profit), drag your feet on completing the deal, and then keep financing options from them so they can ensure they make the most off the finance terms...oh, while haggling you on everything along the way. Here is what happened after my review: Gas - they said they would fill up the tank, they haggled over what gas to put even suggesting I blend two grades to save them money. Windshield - there was a crack that clearly I was the only one to notice. They said they would replace at no cost to me and that it could be fixed near where I live. Then for the next 4 hours I had to do with the onslaught of concessions they wanted ME TO MAKE (drive 7 hours round trip to their dealer to save money, cut me a check for a few hundred dollars and let me pay the difference). Not only that, the paper we both SIGNED that said they would replace the windshield was mysteriously replaced with a paper saying they owed me NOTHING when we got to financing. Thankfully my wife caught it and called the out. Financing - not once did they ask me what terms I was looking for. When I got into finance nearly 5 hours later, they had decided for me what works best for them. When I challenged them, I was told all the interest rates for 48, 60, and 72 months were the same...that's not how interest rates work. There's this thing called "term premium". Assessment of Wendell: certainly played the game of good cop. Jury is out on genuine or not, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. If he is genuine, he needs to find another place to work. Assessment of "Wizard of Oz" Sales Manager: worst sales manager I never met because he wouldn't come out from behind his curtain to address me. I get they have a business to run, but this was one of the shadiest experiences I have ever had. I will update this post after my windshield is fixed to let you know if at the very least they made that right...though I have low expectations. read more

I purchased my 2007 Chevrolet Impala fresh off of the showroom floor from Mr. Don Lyles at the Downtown location back in May 2007. I am still driving her! This has been one of the best cars I have ever owned, and for it being a 10 year old car, she has given me relatively few problems over the years. I'll be honest. I haven't always taken my car to Edward's for service, in the hopes of saving money by going to an independent shop. But I guess the old adage is true, you get what you pay for. I would much rather have piece of mind in knowing I have knowledgeable mechanics working on my vehicle that specialize in my make and model. I try to take good care of my baby, and Edward's has a great service department. No complaints there. Overall, I have had great service over the years at Edward's. I expect you will too. I cannot say enough about the outstanding customer service that I have been shown by both management and the service department. These people care so much about their customers! They have gone above and beyond to take care of me and my vehicle. Scott, Marty, and Gary are 3 of the most upstanding people I have ever met. When I began having issues with my car, I took it here to be serviced. Each time they dropped me off at work and picked me up or offered me a rental to drive. They went out of their way to get special approval to expedite the process to replace a part that usually takes weeks to arrive so that I would have my car back in a timely manner. Ugh. This review is fir service only. I really really wanted to give this dealership my business. The retractor for the driver's side shoulder/seat belt isn't working well. It took awhile to get a service person to acknowledge my presence, but finally got a service guy. He told me our truck has to stay over night. He said he could get a quote on replacement or repair, but didn't. I was hoping for an appointment to bring it in and wait. No. They cannot predict when a repair tech will be available. I checked Lyft. It would cost +$40.00 for a ride home. I said this to the service guy. He responded "Yeah". Then stared at me. He said I could bring it on Wednesday to drop it off and leave it. I said no thanks. I will go to a dealership closer to home. I am not paying Lyft $80.00+ for a ride home after dropping it off and going back to pick it up. My vehicle was struck by another driver while it was parked in a parking lot. While the dent wasn't large, it still took my time and money to have the car repaired so of course I'malready frustrated. I picked this place through my insurance, and it is the first time I've had to visit. Besides the unfortunately small parking lot, the receptionist was very kind which brightened my moos. The repair itself took a little longer than what was initially projected, but Wade Ferguson was always available to answer my emails, if not in the same day, by the very next day. He went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of while the repairs were still ongoing since I didn't have an alternative form of transportation and could not afford a rental especially after my (high) deductible. I have never had such an efficient communication pathway and kind experience at any other car shop, and I certainly would never have expected it. If you ever find yourself in an unexpected and troublesome situation like me, I recommend coming here. You can never truly estimate how long it might take to make your vehicle back to perfect, but you can at least have excellent customer service in the meantime. This place has just that. read more

I have a younger brother that is a student in Birmingham. He seems to wreck his car annually and its always my job to arrange for the repairs. The Edwards Downtown Body Shop crew always takes good care of us on the body repairs. They handle the rental car, dealing with the adjusters, and make the car look like new again. They seem to do a good job of keeping me in the loop too, which a lot of paint shops don't do very well. Hopefully I won't need a Birmingham body shop again, but if I do I plan on giving these guys a call. read more

So I don't really write reviews, in fact, this is my first Yelp review. Let me start out by saying, I hope you don't have to visit the collision center because, if you do, it means that your baby was in an accident. However, if you are in need of some repairs, Edwards is the place to go! They worked with the insurance and took care of everything, I in fact was able to take my car out and have the estimate done the day after I reported it to my insurance and they began repairs on it that day! They estimated 5-6 business days and it was right on time, and my car looks like it did the day I bought it! Great work and the customer service was awesome too, Josh was great and even gave me a ride back to school when I dropped it off and offered to pick me up when the repairs were complete. I highly recommend Edwards Chevrolet and if I ever need any more work done, I will be sure to return! read more

Had my truck in Edward's service department for a recall last week. They fixed my issue and a few that I did not know about that were covered under warranty. They even sent me out in a loaner car since my job depends on having transportation. All of this for a customer who did not even buy from them. I will be back as long as I have a Chevy. After service dissatisfaction with Hendrick Chevrolet in Hoover, AL, I decided to try the service department at Edwards Chevrolet in downtown Birmingham - a company with a long history. I regret making that decision. I had an appointment at 8 a.m. on 12/08/16. At 3:30 p.m. I still had not heard from the service advisor, Wade Ferguson. I contacted Mr. Ferguson by text and was advised that there was a service back-up from the previous day and that my car had not been evaluated. He further asked if I would leave my car overnight with them. I was greatly displeased that my car had been in the service department ALL DAY and had not been looked at. I did leave my car overnight. The next day Mr. Ferguson advised me of the problems and the repair costs. I authorized the repairs and arrived around 11 a.m. to pick up my car. Mr. Ferguson was not available. I talked with Gary Varner, the service director, and expressed my extreme dissatisfaction over the delay in attending to my car and over Mr. Ferguson's unapologetic manner. Mr. Varner offered his apologies. Additionally, Mr. Varner informed me that a part had to be ordered for my car and I would need to return to the service on yet another day for the repair to be made! At no time did Mr. Ferguson inform me of the need to order a part or of the delay of repair. Mr. Ferguson offered to waive the cost of labor on the installation of that part, and I accepted his offer. When I returned a third time for the last repair, Mr. Ferguson informed me that the service technician was waiting on my car and the repair should not take long. After 2 hours of waiting, I asked Mr. Ferguson to advise me of the status of the repair. Within 4-5 minutes he advised me that my car was ready. I had to wait 2 hours for a repair that should have taken less than a hour, and I suspect that my car was ready long before Mr. Ferguson advised me it was available. I wonder how much longer I would have been made to wait had I not asked Mr. Ferguson to give me a status update. I was wholly dissatisfied with the service I received at Edwards Chevrolet. It is apparent that the delay I experienced was common practice because the cars that had appointments on 12/09 were bumped behind mine and any other cars that had been left unseen on 12/08. I discussed this without satisfaction with Mr. Varner. In my opinion, Wade Ferguson should be fired. He not only failed in communicating the status of my car to me, he never once offered an apology for the delay or for my inconvenience. His demeanor is a poor reflection upon the Chevrolet brand. I will never again return for service at Edwards Chevrolet and because of my poor treatment in the service department, will not even consider purchasing a new vehicle from them. read more

I pulled up at the dealership Saturday afternoon after leaving another one who said the vehicle I wanted from this lot had already sold. I met with a nice manager by the name of Benjamin Lee, who I explained what happened to. I asked him to please link me with a salesman who isn't going to give me the run around, waste my time and lie to me. I was introduced to Don Lyles. I handed him the stock number of the vehicle I was told from their partner dealer that was sold to discover it was sitting out front. I told him I wanted to purchase it and gave him all of the details about payment, my trade, etc. and he promised he wouldn't waste my time. After a little but normal back and forth he did the best he could. I was then introduced to Sales Manager Terrance Wray. The numbers didn't quite add up to what we needed but after a little discussion, Terrance was able to make things work out just as we needed them to. During my conversation prior to paperwork with Don, I asked him was a cargo shade in that truck, he says no it doesn't come with it. I said well if you can get me one of those since it is very important for me to have one, we have a deal. He says "I can do that". While waiting on the paperwork portion, Don explained that since it was late in the evening he wouldn't be able to get it detailed but I can come back next week. He added that he would be at work every open day next week so I could come back and go over features and get the detailing done. The next day, I realized I didn't receive the cargo shade and was missing what's known to me as standard, a front tag plate and all weather mats. Monday, I arrived back at the dealership for the detailing and other items. Don says he didn't know I was coming today and said he wasn't sure about the timing (how long this would take). We went into his office and I asked about those 3 items. About the front tag plate, he says 95% of the vehicles come with it but this one didn't so I could purchase one for $15. At this point, I have a strange look on my face. He then says the cargo shade and mats also didn't come with it and asked me if I looked on the window sticker to see if it was on there. I said that I thought these items would be standard as they've been in the past, like with my Toyota I traded. He tells me "Well this is Chevy not Toyota and we don't add these things and if we did you would have saw it on the sticker and I'm not about to go steal it either" I told him, well I would like to get those things out of my trade since they aren't "standard" and you're saying I paid for them with a Toyota whether I know it or not. Do says "well you should have got them before you signed it over to us, it's ours now" At this point, I am totally upset, I get my "paid for" cargo cover out of the Toyota since I'll need to sell it to purchase myself a nearly $300 one from Chevy. He then asked for my keys for the detailing and at that point I didn't want to be at the dealership another minute with his smart mouth lying self, so I left. Since I have to pay for everything else, might as well pay for a detail somewhere else too! Typical salesman, get my commission and all of a sudden get amnesia. I dropped my car off at Edwards Chevrolet on 9/4/18 for a bumper and tail light repair. I called several times for an update on my car, messages were taken but nobody ever called me back. I called my insurance adjuster on 9/11/18 and was told that my car would be ready on the following Monday. Still no word or call from Edward's. I then went down there on 9/17/18 to see what was going on. Everybody looking confused and crazy. Finally, Midge gets Josh to come in and she asks him about my car.......he has no idea. He goes to get my paperwork and tells me that all the parts have come in but my car still wouldn't be ready until Wednesday (today). Well, no call so far. I will never ever in my life take my car or any car to this place ever again. And I will be sure to let all of my friends and family know not to ever use them. EVER!!!! read more

They do not deserve any stars. They had my son's car a few days shy from a month. Work is yet completed. My son had to go out of state for college and was unable to. I spoke with the GM and he tried to resolve this issue and of course had to be on their side. This body shop lack communication. If days were push back or parts were on delay, they can at least call us to let us know. Instead of waiting for us to call. To say I am irritated with this dealership or its service dept. is an understatement. There is a lot of detail that went wrong with this service. And now we have requested them to zip tie the bumper and align the car and we will take it as is. Its pretty sad when you expect your car to look normal, yet drive off a body shop with zip ties holding your car together. There is nothing this dealership can do to make it this experience better. So please if you need work on your car for any reason, reconsider where you take it. read more

Where should I start with this review. First I took my car there to get the check engine light fixed and they fixed no charge bc of my warranty. Two weeks later I take the car back because of the same problem and now they can't fix it and say I have all these problems I guess they "didn't" see the first time. On top of that the problems are not covered under the warranty according to them. Trash those cards they send you in the mail about purchasing your vehicle . Out right scam should be illegal. they will dog your car out then tell you maybe you should keep it. I was very upfront and honest with them that I just purchased the vehicle. Save your self some time Unless you are looking for a place to trade your car I would NOT recommend this place. I highly recommend you take a longer drive to Chevy premier in Bessemer. The service department is "ON POINT" and that' ALL THE TIME!! Wouldn't trust anyone else to service my car other than Edward 3rd Avenue. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it is like "pulling teeth" to get someone to answer the phone in the service department in the evening time. This would be ok; however, not when you are trying to reach someone to arrange for a Taxi ride back to the service department to pick up your car. It never fails. I will have to call the service number(s) at least 10 times before someone finally answer. I am sure that they are busy, as they are the "BEST", but really how frustrating! I sure I am not the only person that is having this issue. I am of hopes that the Manager will read this review and address this issue. It would be nice to have the phone rerouted so that someone can answer the phone lines between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. As I am typing this review, I am anxiously waiting for my desk phone to ring letting me know someone got my message. smh :( read more

One never has to ask a second time when dealing with this dealership/location! I traded in for a dealer demo just under 3 months ago. I have been back 2x since. The first time was for their GM to help me out with my radio...I'm a bit tech challenged and couldn't figure out how to use it. Not only was Marty great, he sat with me and made sure I knew what I was doing before I left. The next time was to have an oil change. Saw Craig...super sweet man and kept his word of when I'd be out of there. In fact, they finished sooner than he said they would. For starters I took my car in for a simple issue with an appt., they did not get to my car that day or the next day and end up putting me in a rental after I complained after a total of 3 days and no repair I was very upset and returned the rental, in which they made me pay for gas. Well I wouldn't have even needed a rental if they had repaired day 1 or day 2...it was three days before someone could tell me that the part had to be ordered and would not be in until after the wkknd. I was not satisfied with this matter and complained to a service supv., who said they would repair Monday and in addition wash the vehicle at no charge, well when picking my car up not only did the tech leave a piece off from the inside my door off they still did not wash the car as they said after they had told me it was ready for pick up. I brought this to their attention and said well we can't get to it today once again another bummer! Needless to say the car finally got washed the next day, but I am not happy with the service as a new customer to Edward Chevrolet. I am not sure about taking my car back after this ordeal.
