One week ago, there was a reduced engine power message and device engine light on my 2020 Encore GX with 23,061 mi. I called Buick, had it towed to Jim Murphy. They said it needed a battery and did not do the diagnostic testing. We picked up the car, took it to our mechanic who replaced the battery. Today, I get in my car, reduced power message and service engine light again. Battery replacement over $300. Probably didn't need it. Having it towed again to another Buick dealer. He definitely added value to the brand. He was able to discount the price of the new car and he also got us a top trade in allowance for our car. If you ask 1,000 people to describe how, they imagination a car dealer to be like. You would probably get, the same stereotype description that you see on TV. A fast talking, gold tooth cap, slick combed back hair, outdated plaided suit wearing individual, with a gold chain sitting on top of his chest hairs. Even on the TV shows these people can't be trusted, they are always finding angles to rip you off. So I did my research and was totally prepared to go to war with the negotiations. Well it was pretty obvious that the car salesman (Peter) didn't watch the same TV shows I watched. Peter was totally different than I expected. He was genuinely friendly, and attentive to what my needs were. What impressed me the most was the fact he was very honest. Peter explained everything about the cars I was interested, including the details of the price summary. Peter wasn't pushy and he didn't sneak hidden charges on my bill. All this prep work I did to handle these guys, so far was a waste of my time. That is until Peter sent me to the finance guy (Nick). Now I'm ready to handle this guy, heck I figured I have to show Nick I wasn't playing no games. Well again, TV shows I watched was totally wrong about this guy as well. Nick was great, he showed all the options that was available to me. He explained how credit scores work to my son, since we are here for him anyways. He gave my son good advice on how to establish credit and how to get the right kind of credit. Nick just like Peter was nice, honest and wasn't pushy. Brought my 2022 Sierra here to retrofit the heated seats. 1st time they ordered the wrong part. The next day, I had to drive back. On the drive home, the back of the seat wasn't working. Drove back again the next day. They blamed it on a bad module from GM. The next morning my driveway was covered in oil. The oil filter was lose. Someone loosened the oil filter probably thinking it was in for an oil change. The seal was broken. I was told that I had to pay an oil change out of pocket. My new module is still currently on order and my seats still do not work. Go to any other dealer. *update* After expressing my opinion several times that an oil filter does not magically come lose the day after it was in for a unrelated service, my oil change was free. I would have respected the service department had they just admitted fault from the beginning. Everyone makes mistakes. I won't do business here again. read more

I came across a 2014, Chevy Equinox on the website Car Gurus. Car looked very nice online, immediately asked if it was available. Got contacted by salesman Peter within the day. By the next day I was at the dealership looking at the car. Apparently the car had been through "the shop" and checked but it still had a number of issues, and I was told that "there are other people viewing this car" so I should probably put my deposit down. Peter and Corey had me sign the credit forms, I sat there for over an hour discussing them and there was ample opportunity for them to check my form over. Rushed out the door because they already had closed an hour ago at this point. The next day the salesman is blowing up my phone while I'm at work all day, putting the urgency on me to fill out the digital version of the form bc there were things not filled out. I had shared with Peter previously that I have an 8:30-5 job. One attempt of communication would've sufficed, not smothering. The negligence is on them for not checking over my form, why is my phone going off all day at work because of this? I was advised to figure out my insurance by Friday and unfortunately with a demanding job I did not have too much time to do that. I planned to get it done, but it wasn't as quick as I imagined. The questioning me, the hounding me. I understand how car dealerships and salesmen have to be, but this was really too much for me and my anxiety. It got to the point where Peter told me if I don't get this done, he's putting the car back in the front lot. At this point I reached out to Peter's boss Roger who seemed to be much more patient. I was made aware that I could communicate with Roger whenever I wanted to and that he could help me with any part of this. Unfortunately as time went on and this was all within a week, and after talking it over with family, I realized that this was not the car for me or the situation that I wanted to purchase my first car from. I called Roger up on a Saturday, and told him I wanted my deposit back. I was talked in circles, pressured and to the point where I told him I'll talk to my parents and call him back by the time he said he was closing, 4. I called him back very close to 4 because I finally gained the courage to stand my ground no matter what he would say, and he didn't answer so I left a voicemail that I wanted my deposit back. Crickets. I left voicemails for the very nice finance guy Corey, crickets. By Thursday I called both of them and left voicemails. Crickets. I received text messages from salesman Peter from his personal cell phone line asking for my card so he could refund me. I didn't feel comfortable doing that at this point because I'm not texting my information like that. I wanted to get in touch with either Corey or Roger. I was very specific about this at this point because this whole thing at this point is making me uncomfortable. No call back. I call back myself on Saturday and I get through to Roger, who tells me that "I got your voicemails and I have advised my staff not to take your card over the phone". Okay sure, understandable at this point. But my major question was, If you had already made this executive decision, why didn't you call me back and tell me so I could plan to come down to the dealership again? We talk and after call not sure why he didn't let me know this so I try multiple times to call Roger back through the sweet lady that is their secretary, probably 2 or 3 times? Nobody picks up and I'm hysterically crying because this communication as a whole has been a nightmare and I just wanted it to be over with. The secretary consoles me and was able to grab Corey to speak to me. She said Corey is ready for my call, I vented he listened, he talked w Roger, talked me down and convinced me to come into the dealership. I did, the secretary was very attentive, Corey met me. Smoothly got my deposit back. And 2 hours after going to dealership and getting my deposit back, I get a text message from Peter that says "I will need you've cc # +exp date so I can refund your deposit. Why don't you come in and I can recredit." Haha. I guess Roger never advised anyone of anything. What a joke this entire situation was. read more

The absolute worst place to purchase a vehicle. Two years ago I purchased a vehicle for over $23,000 that had 12,000 miles on it. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have had it towed to Jim Murphy numerous times and have brought it in for work numerous times for the same issue. Service stabilitrak displays behind the steering wheel, My engine power is reduced which means there is no acceleration no matter how hard you push down and the four-wheel-drive is turned off. There is also a horrible noise that comes from the undercarriage. Each time I have brought it there it has been actively displaying these issues. I can't even turn the car off when I go into stores or anywhere because it will not start when I come back out. It will not start for hours or for days, depending on how the vehicle feels I guess. The day before yesterday, My son and I once again had to sit in a car that would not start for four hours in over 80° weather waiting for a tow For it to once again be brought to Jim Murphy. They keep telling me the sensors need to be reset or you need more oil... Just yesterday they told me once again the sensors need to be reset. They have "fixed" it so many times and it has done the same thing immediately after leaving the shop. It is sitting in their shop right now for the umpteenth time. It has been towed to their shop twice in the last two weeks for the exact same issue that it has been brought there for over the past two years over and over again. I have lost multiple jobs because on any day I could go out to my car to drive to work and it will not start. And if it does decide to start, the acceleration is turned off so it will only go 5 mph at max. I have to leave a substantial amount of time earlier than I normally would to get somewhere because of only being able to go 5 mph and having to drive with my four ways on at all times. I cannot even tell you how many times me and my son have been yelled at or flipped off due to not being able to accelerate when the light turns green. It will finally start to move when the light is about to turn red again. Every person at Jim Murphy GMC knows of this issue. Like I said, my vehicle is sitting in their shop right now. But that won't stop them from replying to this post and pretending like they are concerned because they don't want to lose another potential buyer who will turn out to be another sorry loser like me who spent their life savings on what they thought was a fantastic vehicle. They should be embarrassed of themselves. All of those great warranties and service they will offer if anything ever happens to your vehicle is only a subject that is spoken about before you actually buy the vehicle. Peter Sabio was my salesman and apparently a few months after buying the vehicle all of my warranties were expired according to the manager and service shop. Even though I was told over and over that I have the power train warranty until 2021. And when I go on the GMC owner center it shows that multiple warranties are in effect and have been in affect every single time I have brought the vehicle to them. But just like any mechanic, they bully you and tell you that that is wrong and want you to pay for every little thing they do. All they do is "Fix" my vehicle and then it is brought or towed there a week later again for the same issue. It has been towed there twice in the last two weeks... Just imagine how the last two years of hell has been for me with this vehicle. I'm sure the "concerned" manager will leave a message explaining how they are willing to help and will seem like they don't know of this issue, even though it has been there countless times and the manager and everyone in the service shop is aware. If the manager really cared, he would call me directly and explain to me how much "he can help" instead of replying to my post to save face. And yes, they know exactly who I am and what vehicle I am talking about. It is the 2015 white Terrain that is sitting in their shop once again right now. And they absolutely have my contact information because they have called me numerous times over the years to explain that I have no warranties and how much I need to pay them. It is disgusting that in this day and age, mechanics and car salesman are still trying to fool and milk a young single mother for every penny I have. I am not rich by any means, and I work hard every day just to earn enough money to get by and support my child. I feel like they robbed me of over $23,000, and all the money I have paid so that they can "fix" my car. I am truly devastated and disgusted. My life has been hell since I purchased this vehicle. Countless hours spent sitting inside the vehicle in sweltering heat waiting hours for it to start again, even though it will only drive 5 mph once it starts, or waiting for a costly tow truck to take it to Jim Murphy so that they could try to milk me of more money again. Many jobs have been lost because of it. How do they sleep at night. read more

This is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. Leased a vehicle and at time of delivery was given 5 minutes to decide on "additional" insurance coverage. Took it becaues " you can cancel within 60 days with no charge". Cancelled in 30 days and dealership has not processed refund in FOUR MONTHS! I had a pretty uninspired experience with Jim Murphy GMC. Once I gave them a deposit the courtesy went out the window. I felt just about everyone I dealt with did the absolute minimum they could to be helpful. There was an error in the DMV paperwork that I had deal with and received no help from them. Delivery was rushed and a startlingly small amount of instruction on vehicle systems was given, likely because they didn't know. I also thought the vehicle prep could have been much better, including the fact that the all-weather floor mats where installed incorrectly causing the accelerator pedal to catch on it. That's a type of excitement I don't need. The only real positive I can pass along is that I didn't find them to have a high-pressure type sales philosophy. Did not deliver when promised . Salesmen very busy, doing several different things while helping us. We came in to buy. Told him what we wanted, made us think he had vehicle didn't have it but said he could get it from one of their trading partners . But we had to sign a contract and put down a deposit. After confirming it was there . After we insisted to do it while we were their. Said they would have the car by Tuesday . Monday no update. Tuesday No updates. We called . Several times without any success on finding out the status of our vehicle . After leaving a detail message about our intent to take our business else where . We received a phone call informing us they did not have the vehicle yet because the two dealerships couldn't decide on a fair trade. Wednesday salesmen said they where picking the car up and we could come see it Wednesday after 3. To sum it up the vehicle wasn't there . But did offer Delta Sonic car wash tickets for our inconvenience ($35,000 car) When I asked why shouldn't we take our business elsewhere . Jim Murphy GMC did not care about satisfying the customer . The bottom line was it wasn't the salesman fault they couldn't deliver when promised . The Dealership Manager determines when the car would be picked up. And we had to deal with . I took my Pontiac in because it wouldn't start. I was told that the battery is dead, the hazard switch needs to be replaced because the four-ways couldn't be turned off, and that there is an open in the starting circuit that needs to be soldered: $700. Today I had occasion to use the hazard lights, only to find that the switch is sticking! If the whole assembly was replaced/brand new, and correct operation verified after the repair was completed, how did that happen? I'll let them keep the $100 I paid for the switch. read more

seller would not come down on price of vehicle and it turned out to be a lemon, spent more time and money fixing it. not to mention the sales man was very pushy, and not very polite. until i said i would buy it of course. Also I had to bring the vehicle back two days later, because they didn't not replace the breaks and rotors, discussed in sales agreement. They tried to tell me that they did but the vehicle had a very noticeable vibration in the break peddle so that was clearly a lie. instead of replacing them at that visit they just resurfaced them. read more
