I've driven by this place a hundred times without much thought. I hadn't seen it on anyone's top ten list and frankly just stopped to add another notch to my BBQ list. My first impression was they needed to change the fry oil. It reeked. My second was how popular they are with the locals. The Staff seemed to know everyone on a first name basis sometimes carrying on lengthy conversations. Lastly, phone orders are a must. While my take-out order took forever, a parade of customers came and went. As for the BBQ itself ... decent enough to recommend, but nothing to write home about.

Food prepared with love, I ordered a hot dog, french fries and a sweet tea. The french fries were served so hot you had to dip them in ketchup just to eat them. Awesome! Hot dog was really good, my only complaint was a cold bun. But no worries, if it had been wrapped in wax paper that would have done the trick. Sweet tea was delicious too, great little road side stop in the middle of nowhere land. Seriously! Nice people working, you can tell it's a good little local stop.

The food is very good and most of the time we'll portioned. One of the best Brunswick stews for sure! They are pretty fast even when busy.

Small family run restaurant in Walnut Grove. Not bad pork BBQ but overpriced for the serving portion that you get.

Denied breakfast, I heard those familiar low growls from my midsection. I was hungry. But I was looking for something special. For lunch. NO fast food. NEVER! NO chain restaurants. NOT this time, bud. I wasn't quite sure what I was in the mood for, but I KNEW I'd KNOW it when I SAW it... It was then I seemed to sense the scentual aroma of slow cooked meat over a real pit. Barbeque! YES! THAT'S what I was in the mood for! At that moment, I was tempted to pull over and do my usual online search. But it was still a little too early for lunch, so I ambled on. Mile after mile after mile. Turns out, I believe I was being led by the nose to Covington. I just felt it. Movie town, here I come. Once in town, that is when I hit the web. I sniffed out a place called Bradley's Real Pit Barbeque. Hmmmm. Let's do it! EXACTLY EVERYTHING I EVER wanted in the way of Barbeque!!! I ordered the Half Rack of Ribs, with fries and beans. What I got was a STACK of RIBS...with those delectable fries and beans. Ribs. The HOLY Grail of the grill. The Fall off the Bone smoky goodness carried me to lip smacking, finger lickin, OHHHHHH YEAH ville! Man! Those ribs! (I AM a rib aficionado. A connoisseur of pit cooking). THESE were no fib ribs. FINER than fine with a huge touch of yum. OHHHHH Yeah. I now LOVE Bradley's. Looking for any excuse to drive north, to Movie town and sit down. Like the Terminator said, "I'll be back!"

I knew I had to stop at Cowboy's BBQ after I passed it a few times while looking at houses in Covington. Some of the best food that you'll find anywhere is often attached to a gas station. The good reviews and smells made me certain this was going to be great. At first glance, prices are amazing [more on this later...]. I ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken. I chose fries and mac n cheese for my sides. The mac n cheese carried an upcharge, but this is reasonably common for places to do. I agree with the one diner who said the brisket was amazing. I really enjoyed the brisket. The fries were also fine thanks how are you? Wish I had more good to say about this place. The ribs were very old and mediocre at best. I understand that food can't be cooked to order at a barbecue place, but even barbecue has a shelf life. The ribs that I was served should've long been chopped into a stew special or something along those lines. The smoked chicken was a disgusting insult. At first, I thought I was mistakenly served an additional side instead of smoked chicken. Unfortunately, their service style is off the bone and finely diced. Storing barbecue meats off the bone is a delicate process. You have to take extra care to ensure that it doesn't dry up in the hot box. Unfortunately, no care was taken, so the chicken was dry and tasteless. The mac n cheese was very low quality. I'll happily pay an upcharge for the good stuff that's baked. I'll grudgingly eat Kraft mac n cheese. I will not pay an upcharge for Kraft mac n cheese. Honestly, all of this would've made the experience probably worth 2 or even 3 stars, but they have an incredibly dishonest, unadvertised upcharge for credit cards. The surcharge is definitely higher than their cost to accept credit cards. Some businesses eat the cost of accepting credit cards. Other businesses pass this cost to the customer. Cowboy BBQ uses this as an opportunity to improve their margins by cheating their customers.

I started with the goat cheese pesto bruschetta for appetizers. The flavors paired well together and it was a decent size. The fried shrimp tacos were the best. Shoutout to our waitress for that suggestion! They were crispy, large shrimp pieces, and flavored nicely. We also got the fried fish tacos and the ribeye tacos which were very underwhelming. Unfortunately, the entire taco platter was extremely salty. Even though we drank water throughout, we both left feeling super parched due to how salty it was. This place has potential but I'm not sure I would come back. It might be a good spot to grab a drink and hang out, but I wouldn't come here to eat. Honestly the amazing service is really what stood out and was the saving grace!
