Disappointed today. We have always enjoyed going to Jim N Nick's, but things have changed. They used to have a very good slightly smoky burger...no longer. So I ordered their new "smash burger ", but got served their "southern smash burger ". Saw this BBQ place in jasper. Looked like local place. Was seated immediately but had to move. When they seat you, look for the big air vents above the seats. We had ac blowing right on us. So unprofessional. Came into an empty restaurant on a Sunday around 5:30. I used to live in Alpharetta, Georgia and loved the onion rings at their location off 400. Tried to order some, was told they were out. Remembered they had fresh cut fries, tried to order those, they were out. At that point I didn't bother to eat here and left. Went down to visit my mom so we decided to go to lunch . Upon entry there was no wait but ended up waiting 10 minutes to be seated . The waitress was nice and attentive. It was lunch time so it was slightly busy. The food was ok. Our first serving of the cheese biscuits were hot . The second batch were very cold . I ordered the loaded baked potatoe. The waitress informed me the plate was extremely hot. I wish the food was also. I had to send the potato back because it was cold . The plate hot but not the food . I asked could they heat it up . My husband and I placed an order to go and when we showed up, our order had never even been given to the kitchen. So after waiting an additional 30 minutes, our food came out. Luckily I checked it before even leaving the parking lot. They had not even fixed it right, which included leaving on an alleged item that was specifically told to be left off. Had to ask for silverware after we received our food. Also had drinks with no straws. I ordered the bbq salad and it should have had croutons and bacon but had neither. When we asked for more (complementary) biscuits, we were told that if we ordered some to go, we may get them before we leave. However, she did bring us some biscuits (after about 15 minutes). Passed this place on my way to the hotel and decided to go back and try it out. Showed up @ 7pm for some dinner and the place wasn't too busy but had a 20 minute wait. I ordered the 3 meat combo with chicken and ribs with a side of potato salad and corn. The potato salad was really good and the corn was cooked perfectly. The chicken was pretty good but dang the ribs were so frecking tuff I literally couldn't eat them & since they charge extra for ribs I decided screw it and asked for them to be replaced. Stopped for lunch, and glad for it. I had the pulled poets on a bun and the BBQ sauce was great, fries on the side were good, pork was maybe a touch ch dry but the sauce more than made up for it. It's lunch time on a Friday and the place was almost empty. Nobody but myself to blame for overlooking that red flag. Staff just sitting around in the booths talking to one another, yet we had to wait while the hostess checked to see if the table had been wiped off. We ordered an app of deviled eggs. Who puts chopped onion in a deviled egg? Maybe that's a Northern thing, but still wrong because this is Alabama. I saw on the menu that they had smoked wings with "Carolina white sauce." We asked about it and the waitress said it's a "white-based" sauce and she could not describe it any further than that. WTH is "white-based?" We went with buffalo flavor and bleu cheese dressing. Bleu cheese - here we go again with the onions. It was like the cap fell off the onion powder. Then I made the mistake of using the restroom. (Hey, employees, I found something for you guys to do.) They had two stalls: Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If I had just gone in the floor it would not have made it worse. Literal roaches were openly running across the floor, looking at me like, "What are you doing here?" The toilet brush holder was laying on its side behind the commode with a dead roach inside it. We had a great meal here. I had the pork baked potato. My husband had the half chicken and my child had the grilled cheese. We didn't care for the baked beans but the biscuits were SO DELICIOUS. Yesterday i went to Jim N Nicks, and this was the first time that i was super disappointed! When we first walked in 2 hostesses looked me and my husband in the eyes are walked away from us. I had to walk around and ask them if we needed to seat ourselves, when one came she didn't greet us or anything, she mumbled something under her breath, and walked away. Our waitress was amazing! Ive been in jasper for five days and four out of these five of days I've eaten at Jim n Nicks. Solid three stars. I wanted to like it and rate it higher but three is where it is. I was hungry, no lunch. I ordered the three meat combo, turkey, sausage and baby back ribs. Leaving this review makes me sad. I wish I had a restaurant like this. I would strive to have the best everything. There was a place like that in Ga,, it was so clean you could eat off the floor, the pork and chicken were smoked OUTSIDE, fresh everyday. The sauce was ... oh my gosh my mouth is watering just thinking about it.... it was a hole in the wall but people drove hours just to eat at Mad Dog. The owner Jerry passed away and they closed. I was spoiled by them. It's the only BBQ I could eat. When we moved here I thought I would give Jim and Nick's a try. I bought a chicken sandwich. It tasted smoked, so that was good. The bun was toasted but soggy by the time I took it out of the wrapper. I looked at the chicken. By the time I took all the skin and fat off, I had a little white and dark meat. I poured the sauce on it. It was watery. It tasted ok, it wasn't too bad. I took a few bites and gave up. I buy pulled pork sandwiches for my husband, sometimes the employees act too busy to be bothered. There was one named Cassandra who actually acted happy to explain the menu to me. I do know, as a business owner, good help is hard to find. Every business owner wants everyone to do their job right and to be nice to everyone. Don't always blame the owner. read more

I pass through Jasper once a month and stop here for lunch. Their beer selection has declined the last few months. The board never seems to match what they have on draft. Some of the handles are outdated from October and 2 of the 6 seem to empty. Wait staff is very nice and food is decent. Hope they can step up their beer game the next few months. read more

Easy to find (right off 78 hwy) and phenomenal service! Our server, Megan, was prompt to answer any questions and she made sure our glasses were never empty. The food was fresh and flavorful. I tried the pork potato, which came with a side of ranch that I didn't have to ask for. My friend had the mac n cheese plate with a side salad. Both were great. I don't like that they got rid of the Nachos, but the Pulled Pork and Ribs are always fantastic, so I can't give less than 5 stars. Their wings with Alabama White Sauce (mayonnaise based fyi) were also excellent. Bad service good over all food. Bar-B-Q is very good but portions are tiny for the $ ...used to be the place to get a HUGE piece of Chocolate Pie that was Scrumptious and fresh.
