Great BBQ! Out of town stopped to meet some family, it was quick and very good! Little spot hooked onto the local grocery store. This is a small barbecue restaurant attached to a supermarket. The food is good, not great, and competitively priced. Well it seems that the steak sandwich is the most popular item, I opted for the chicken dinner with baked beans and corn casserole as my two sides. I also had both the red barbecue sauce and white barbecue sauce, both of which I spread liberally on my chicken. The baked beans were better than the corn casserole, go enjoy both sides. I also enjoyed the white barbecue sauce more so than the red. Next time, I will probably try the steak sandwich. read more

Sons Smokehouse is the best place for BBQ or steaks. The service is great a very friendly staff. They make you feel like family. I could eat there every night they are open. The place just feels like home. Great place to catch a game as well and enjoy some wings or any other smoked meats. This was my first visit and I do not plan on going back anytime in the future! First of all, the young kid at the counter just stood there looking at me and never said a word. No hi can I help you, Nothing! I ordered the wings, beans and banana pudding. My husband had the beef brisket. When they brought our food, my wings looked like they were left over and reheat from 2 days prior, not to mention they were tiny and shriveled up. Not at all freshly cooked. The beans tasted like they were just dumped from a can. The banana pudding was pretty good. The brisket was very good. I spoke to the girl serving food when she walked by and told her that I was very disappointed that they would serve anyone those wings and she said she was sorry. No one from management even came out to speaker to us. They were all in the back laughing. Very disappointed in the service and food. The staff needs to be educated on how to treat customers. The food was not cheap and I will not be back. read more

We are visiting from Oregon and looked for a BBQ place on our way from Little Rock, AR to Montgomery, AL. The GPS gave info about this and we stopped. Boy, am I glad we did! The owner greeted us and took our order, and other patrons were friendly. The entire place was spotless and the restroom clean enough to want to stay. My son had the pulled pork with corn casserole and coleslaw while I had brisket, baked beans and potato salad. All of it exceeded every expectation and the portions were generous. The owner even came to offer my PTSD Service Dog water. Nothing but stellar. Stop by and enjoy! read more

Was in Jasper, AL today, decided to pick up some BBQ to take home. Stopped by Son's smokehouse and gave it a try. I picked up a Boston butt and some banana pudding. The whole but was fresh off the smoker and wrapped in double aluminum foil for travel and then placed in an aluminum pan. Super easy to reheat when I got home. The meat shredded easy with my fingers and left a nice clean bone. A crisp layer of dark bark led to a nice juicy fat layer. The meat had a nice smoke ring inside with a warm pink center. This was the best pork I have had in a while. No wonder when I was leaving another customer said: "Hope you enjoy, it the best meat around!" Banana pudding had a nice vanilla pudding with large chunks of bananas plenty of vanilla wafers. Will make sure I stop by again, next time I am in town. read more

Food was good but not what's expected. Wait time was a while but the customer service was good!

Meats are solid. Pork is always very good and the smoked wings are excellent. The smoked chicken is good as well. Brisket is usually dry. Banana pudding is very good too. Sides are awful. Straight up bad. Green beans are passable. Baked beans are not good. The mac n cheese and corn casserole are absolutely flavorless. Go for the meats/sandwiches and get a bag of chips. read more

I ate here because it had a high rating, must have been the employees doing the rating. I ordered 1/2 of brisket, which was 3 thick slices. Served with no sauce or knife to cut this large pieces with. When I asked for sauce they gave my a half filled bottle that was sticky all over the out side. The meal was mediocre at best. This is an unusual place on the day de of a grocery store. You order outside and then go eat in a very rustic dining area. I lived in Texas a long time and much prefer beef barbecue, but good luck with that in the south. I had an outstanding pork sandwich, yummy potato salad and good banana pudding. Love my hometown Son's BBQ Smokehouse cook'n! We were out and about in Jasper between errands and decided to stop in for a quick bite and catch some Auburn/Georgia/Tennessee football. I also love the fact it's a local, Mom & Pop operation that figured out a way to fight back against small business killing Walmart, and discount/off brand, low end Aldi's. Way to go Sons! In my opinion, some of the best BBQ in the county! Love the bright, smoky sauce and the meat is always tender. Plus, they sell the bottled sauce and white sauce for chicken as well. A regular BBQ sandwich is very filling but save a room for the banana or pineapple pudding. And of course, Son's staff is top-notch! They are adding seating which should be open soon. Hard to say much other than you can't ask for much better bbbq than what Son's Smokehouse serves. Whether it be a Whole Butt, some ribs, or pork it is the best you can buy around here. My Wife Got the BBQ nachos Sat Night and it had ZERO BBQ meat in it ! WoW! 10$ nachos and ZERO meat ...how do people keep going there?
