Don't believe the tag-line "Trained or You Don't Pay" / GUARANTEED Training Results" on the traindontcomplain.com website as it's a total sham. We paid Jim Sosler over $1600 to get help with our dog who had a recent aggression issue and after 2 months of personal sessions at our house his command obedience had hardly progressed and was continually non-compliant for Jim. Jim became increasingly frustrated and proceeded to blame my husband for not doing the 'homework' commands when in fact he was. The last session at our home Jim offered to give us a refund but I wanted to give it one last shot at an alternate venue that wasn't our home. My husband showed up late due to direction miscommunication and when the lesson didn't go well again he suggested splitting the difference of the refund with Jim. He also went on to let Jim know the accusatory emails he sent blaming my husband for lack of progress (totally unprofessional) wasn't appreciated. Once Jim heard that he retorted we'd "have to take him to small claims court to get our money back and he'd subpoena our dog as proof". I officially terminated our training arrangement via email and requested a refund of what I thought was a more than reasonable request --- less hours spent + fuel costs --- to which I have never gotten an acknowledgment. read more

I wish I would have seen Yelp before I hired Jim. I am having the same issues as everyone else here. I am now preparing my small claims case in bonner country. Hired Jim to work with my German Shepherd for cat aggression and off leash obedience. When I didn't agree with his harsh training methods and requested a partial refund $800 of the $1595 I paid him he became rude and hostile. Told me I could take him to small claims court and said my dog was 100% trained. He had 7 total sessions with her where 2 of those I worked the dog. He never once took her leash off nor did he do what we had discussed with the cats. His last session before I ended the training he shocked by dog repeatedly till she was an anxious mess. Mr. Sosler was contracted to train our family dog that needed a little extra training. He to the dog for 4 week and charged almost $4000. After getting the dog home he attacked a passing by walker. My parents tried contacting Jim through email and on the phone and he was less than helpful telling them that they did not follow his rules and guidelines that he set out. Although he has not show proff of this he is posting on his public/business facebook page on that my parents are "dumb asses and can't follow rules. Forced to add a star just to write a review. After reading Jim Sosler's website at TrainDon'tComplain.com, I hired him in May to train our delightful 8 mo. old dog Owen, both on leash and off leash, primarily because Owen likes to socialize with dog walkers on Fernan Hill Rd. and will not come to our command and has a history with Animal Control. We set a training schedule for every Thursday and he did abide by that schedule for 2 weeks and then he started changing the schedule for his preferences. He was hired on March 10th, performed his first training session on March 14. Between March 14 and June 10th (almost 3 months) he trained Owen only 8 times and then claimed the dog is fully trained both on and off leash. During his last session on June 10th while we were assessing Owen's progress, Owen ran off the property down to the road to just say hi to 2 women and 3 children in strollers walking 3 dogs. (While Owen isn't dangerous, he can scare the hell out of people running at full stream toward them.) Jim gave the come command but Owen ignored him just as he ignores me while we are outside. Jim was excessively agitated and irritated when he had to walk down our 300 foot driveway to fetch Owen and then admit that he was Owen's dog trainer and this was not supposed to happen. I believe Jim was embarrassed and maybe he felt inadequate ... or more probably just pissed off at the dog. Whatever the reason, that was the last time we saw him and in his text messages he blamed us and refused to give us even a partial refund. I notified him that we'll see him in court. If I have space on this post, I will send you the exact contents of his last texts to me. Since then I've been doing some research contained on the website TrainDon'tComplain.com. In his info section, Jim claims to be certified as a DTDA-KC professionally certified animal behaviorist. Jim also claims to be a member or a past member of several animal training groups: International Association of Dog Trainers, International Association of Animal Behavioral Consultants, International Association of Canine professionals, National Association of Dog Obedience International and Certified Council for Professional Dog Trainers, among others. I was amazed all of these accomplishments but once I became familiar with his results and temper, I had to ask the serious questions of how he had stayed in business. I decided to call the organizations he claims to be a member of. I asked f they knew what the acronym DTDA-KC meant but none of these professional organizations could give me an answer (now that I think of it, I asked Jim what it referred to when I hired him but he just ignored me and refused to answer). NOT ONE PERSON could answer this antonym mystery and in addition told me that Jim Sosler was NOT a current member of their organizations. They also told me that there is no governing authority over dog trainers and therefore his claims of being a "professionally certified animal behaviorist" are false. Each org has their own ethics requirements, which JIM definitely does not follow. Before I file my lawsuit, I will also confirm his claims of being a FORMER member. If you have had the misfortnate experience of dealing with Jim Sosler, I would love to hear from you to compare experiences. We hired him based upon the info on the website, which I consider to be a binding contract, and if his claims are false or inaccurate, the contract was broken and any other past clients might be able to get compensated. My final comment will be that Jim's contract states "'Trained or You Don't Pay' / GUARANTEED Training Results." In the following text which he sent to me, he claims the guaranty is only for the dog!! I can't wait for him to explain that one in court. Since he also admires Judge Judy, I also suggest she hear this case and destroy his name and reputation to the whole world.
